spit on me with your words
Who: Kol Mikalson, Niklaus Mikaelson and latter Davina Claire
Where: Somewhere around the hall that the Original ladies and Kol resides.
When: Feburary 9th
Rating: R - violence, foul mouths, and death.
Summary: Niklaus can piss off, basically.
The Story:
[ It had been a week, a week of him searching for Davina - even with the help of his sister they had had no luck. Every step of the way he'd had to keep his temper in check which only proved to make him angrier on the inside. Niklaus had had his fun, teasing and taunting Kol about it which struck a paranoid chord.
What Niklaus had done to the last witches that helped him try to defy the Hybrid made Kol far too suspicious. There was the possibility of her simply returning back to The Big Easy but that seemed like the simplest answer and with them, it rarely was. Nik had the horrible habit of taking all of Kol's things - people included - away from him.
Once again, Nik was going to get exactly what he wanted, as per usual. Perhaps the Middle Child Syndrome was far too strong in Kol but he couldn't stand to have that happen again. Without Davina all of Kol's plans fell away to nothing - to losing.
It was no secret to Kol that this elder brother had been lingering closely to Cami - be it due to the threats Kol spouted or something else, he didn't care. What Kol did care about was the fact that it had been a week, a week where his main ally was missing and his main enemy seemed to be rubbing it in his face at every turn.
It hadn't been planned, not exactly, to run into Klaus and not be able to hold his tongue any further. In retrospect he should fear his brother more, but that's a mindset he can't get into, not right away.
Of course it had been a bad idea to actually corner the hybrid in one of the hallways, but Kol was just full of bad ideas. ]
For someone who's clueless to the whereabouts of Davina, you've been rather prevalent around here lately. I find it a bit strange.

Of course it had been a bad idea to actually corner the hybrid in one of the hallways, but Kol was just full of bad ideas. ]
For someone who's clueless to the whereabouts of Davina, you've been rather prevalent around here lately. I find it a bit strange.
[ Davina had made it no secret that Klaus was public enemy number one. ]

There is the problem of the other witch - overly familiar, full of secrets. An annoyance, one that's stopped him in the hallway. In response to the aggression, Klaus relaxes, his expression almost pleasant if it weren't for the sharpness of his eyes. ]
Do you make it a habit of accosting others in the corridor often? You might find yourself in a painful situation if you aren't careful. [ He takes a step closer, mouth curving up into a cold smile. ] Unless pain is what you seek, then I would be more than happy to oblige.
[ He's a giver. ]

Lay a finger on me and you'll lose it.
[ When his older brother steps closer, closing what little distance there was between them Kol responds without even moving, and almost immediately the Hybrid will feel his blood burn to life as if it'd been replaced with concentrated vervain. And while that might be a fun test in the future, the spell wasn't as elaborate - instead his blood bursts to life into a boil to burn him from the inside out. ]
Back off, Nik.
[ Normally the worst he would consider doing was giving him a migraine he'd feel for a century, but Davina was missing and any attempt at a locator spell had been blocked by some more powerful source. This was anger, the temper that had been allowed to flow free when he was a vampire - and even though it might have dimmed after becoming a human, old habits die hard. ]
You're her only enemy here - I've waited the week I was informed would clear your name and she's still missing.

Bloody witch. [ He growls, the wolf in him begging to come to the surface. Being a hybrid means control over his most aggressive side, but in this instance why should he keep the control? This stranger, who insists on being obstinate and accusing, has been nothing but a pain in his ass since arrival. ] If I were going to take her down, I would have at last given you the pleasure of finding her flayed corpse.
[ Despite the pain, he surges forward, hands reaching out to grab Kol's shoulders and shove him into the far wall. ]
One last warning, and then I have myself a meal. It's been too long, after all. [ The glint in his eye is manic, and his control is slippy in the wake of the attack. Damn any consequences, he will not sit by and let a witch take him down. ]
tl;dr just for u
Whatever transpires is on him - not that he sees it that way.
It never actually occurred to him to worry about determined Niklaus trying to kill him. He might've thought it through a little more if his brother didn't know exactly what to say to make his own blood boil just as hot.
If I were going to take her down, I would have at last given you the pleasure of finding her flayed corpse.
The logical part of his brain says that
That means Nik did not kill her.
The Ragin Cajun part of his brain says Fuck Nik and his damn high horse. The younger Mikaelson had no intention of killing his brother, especially since he'd learned that death was not permanent here, and while that might make it appealing, he'd rather have a dagger.
Kol is about to open his mouth to let out some sharp witted comment, perhaps even a threat, when Klaus startles him by all but slamming him into the wall with enough force to knock the air out of his lungs for a second.
A couple gasps later and Kol is frozen still, staring into his older brother's eyes with perhaps the same fear he'd had in his eyes when he'd tried to get out of the Gilbert house the night he had a stake in his heart.
And if the elder of the two pays attention, he'll notice that the heat in his veins stops. For the moment his attack seems to stop.
He speaks, voice surprisingly even. ] You're counting warnings now before you turn people into meals? Cami's suggestion, I assume?
[ And perhaps Kol has seen the error of his very own ways, perhaps he's backing down...
The invisible force that wrenches Klaus' hands off Kol's shoulders with the snapping of fingers and yanks Klaus backwards with enough force to send him through the wall into one of the empty rooms says otherwise.
Hope you don't get any splinters, brother. ]
She's fully gone and domesticated you, or tried, hasn't she?
[ Cami who he'd held as a hostage for all of five minutes before getting fed up with her and dismissing her. ]
You're the one she hates, you're the one she wants to use the stake on. [ The stake that he has every intention of continuing to talk Davina into not bringing here through one of those vendors. Not just for Klaus' sake but the rest of his siblings' as well. ]
tl;dr right back atcha
Or as humbled as Niklaus Mikaelson can get.
His control has always been shoddy, his impulsiveness prone to having him react instantly to anything with violence and force. In the past, there's been no need to keep it at bay, but many things have happened in the past few years. Things that have him seeing the world differently, his humanity slowly returning to him. This didn't mean his arrogance or ego were in any way diminished, which is why the implication that he's been 'domesticated' has him growling under his breath, the veins under his eyes darkening.
He has no chance to snap a retort, or to sink his teeth into the irritating witch. The force pushes him through the air, the wall giving way with splintered wood and he lands on the floor, sliding until his back hits the opposite wall.
There's a chuckle from him as he stands up, the ache from his landing fading almost as quickly as it appeared. ]
Domesticated - I suppose you would know what that's like. [ He sounds confident about this, stepping over some debris as he draws closer to the hole in the wall. ] After all, it appears Davina's got you on a tight leash. Lashing out, threatening a woman she considers her friend...sounds as if you've taken a page from my book, mate.
[ And it really does. Klaus is not above the same tactics, though now he would actually take the time to confer with others before going on any sort of rampage. Small changes make huge differences.
Differences that don't matter at the moment - there came a point where he craved violence, the euphoric feeling it gives him. Whether that's due to his vampiric nature or just his own personality, there's no telling, but right now he craves that feeling. The moment he takes a life, watching their eyes go blank and body go slack. In his mind, if anyone deserves it, the witch in front of him would be the winner. ]
kol likes the sound of his own voice im sorry
Awh, come on, you're still angry about Cami? She made more of a fuss than it was worth, I didn't hurt her. [ After all, he could have mailed Nik her fingers or something, instead of simply scaring her. Despite what it seemed, there was some rationale to his reactions, one being not actually hurting Cami because she was Davina's mate.
They share almost the exact book. But then, Kol is the Wildest Mikaelson, his book is a bit more unpredictable and hedonistic. ]
Domesticated? Me? I'm only out for myself, darling. I do what I want. [ Kol aims a smile at his brother, albeit it was far too malicious to really be considered a smile, perhaps it was more in the sneer family. ] I'm just not a fan of when people take my things and you've got quite the habit of doing.
[ It was quite the problem, and whilst he didn't want to kill Klaus, he wanted to make him pay. Perhaps it made him weak, it decided how this fight would end, he was showing weakness in his restraint of trying to all out kill his brother. They were family after all. ]
So now, when something of mine disappears, I have to assume it's you due to past experiences. I intend to get her back and everything else you've taken from me.
[ The façade of calm amusement that he tries to force up fails, and instead blossoms into his anger. A temper that he hasn't had to control for most of his life. ]
If people get hurt... [ Aah, his favourite doppelgänger's philosophy. ] Better them than me.
[ He stalks towards the room he'd thrown his brother through, blue eyes lingering on the splintered wood for a moment. What a lovely tool to hurt but not kill his brother. ]
I'm sorry, did that hurt? [ He doesn't sound sorry, not at all. ] I'm gutted, I have to settle for tossing you through walls, I didn't think to bring something like a baseball bat. Quite fun, you should try it sometime. [ Maybe he hadn't exactly confronted his brother expecting a physical fight. ] Don't think I won't hesitate to brain you until you tell me where she is or who has her, if not you.
its a mikaelson trait
Not that he cares to - there are a rare few important enough to remember in his lifetime, and obviously whoever this is didn't make the cut. ]
While I appreciate the assumption that I am all knowing, I've no idea where the littlest witch that could vanished off to. [ He makes a show of brushing himself off, a gesture that radiates arrogance. ] Feel free to find yourself weapon - I'm sure you'll need it.
[ Within an instant he's shooting forward, grabbing Kol by the shirt and twisting his body to fling the witch into the room he'd been so gracefully flung into himself. ]
CRIES ABOUT THESE TWO
The first impact of Kol vs Wall he hits it hard enough to go through what remaining wall there was, and if he wasn't bruised before, he certainly is now. The second impact of Kol vs Wall ends just as violently with him tumbling into it hard enough to give him whiplash when he hits it with a loud bang.
He can't help but sit there for a moment, trying to reorder his world so it's not spinning - obviously not taking being manhandled as well as Nik did. The younger Mikaelson doesn't get up, not yet, instead blue eyes scan his surroundings before bits of wood are sent flying in Nik's direction, whether they hit him or not is another story. Kol begins muttering something with what little breath he's managed to catch and if Nik cares to listen it sounds creole - a spell.
Immediately cuts begin forming on the older brother, cuts that take far longer than they should to heal, but they do. Cut after cut and it's obvious Kol is attempting to bleed his brother dry to slow him down. It may be familiar to anyone whose come in contact with a certain dark object he helped make. ] Like a dagger, or maybe an indestructible white oak stake.
[ He wants to yell at him, tell him he doesn't want Nik dead. All he ever wanted was acceptance from his family, not to kill them. ]
Tell me, Nik! [ There's a laugh that's cut short by a wince. ] How does it feel to have everything you've ever wanted?! [ He finally pulls himself to his feet, ignoring the warm trickle of blood, the pain of what he assumes is a bruised rib and all the other bruises making themselves known. ] I wouldn't know, everything I ever want gets taken away from me! By you, by Elijah, by Rebekah, even me own mother robbed me of happiness! You're sitting pretty with family, a pretty girl, whatever you want, whilst I'm always the outcast, the one no one ever cares about!
[ He doesn't try to close the space between them just yet. ] Then I find someone who cares, evidently someone you wrong, repeatedly, and now she's gone!
CRIES ABOUT HOW SLOW I AM I'M SO SORRY
Except for the wood that flies at him, cutting through his arms like knives and a piece embedding itself right under his collarbone. He grunts, stumbling a few steps back - regardless of the fact typical wood won't kill him, it can still injure him. When the spell is being cast, he's in the process of pulling the piece out of his chest, grimacing with the pain of it. Pain that grows tenfold when the cuts appear, eliciting a guttural yell from his throat as he falls to his knees.
The ranting of the witch, combined with the cuts on his skin, make it difficult to truly focus on his words. There's that familiarity again, as if Klaus should know him, but that is drowned out by the pain, and the boiling rage that's building inside him. ]
I've not done - [ He lets out an agonized sound, interrupting himself as he looks down at his arms. ] A thing to the bloody witch!
[ Focusing his thoughts, Klaus forces himself to stand despite the pain. He's got plenty on the tip of his tongue to say, but that would break his concentration. In a blur of motion, he bends down to pick up a stray piece of wood and chucks it in the witch's direction, not going for the kill but trying to disable. ]
nooo shhh it's worth it bab
The collision was enough to make him dizzy and a bit sick, halting his attack on Nik for a moment of trying to regain his bearings. The pain keeps him off his feet, a concussion no doubt - bastard. If Niklaus had wanted to kill him there would have been a lot more force to that throw. Which meant that he intended to hurt him more and get revenge for the assault. A thought that has Kol shaken.
No, no, that's definitely something he doesn't want. Nik was sticking to his story of innocence, that meant he probably was at least in regards to this.
He forces an eye shut as blood drips down through his eyebrow and then over his eye. And while the thought hadn't scared him as much before, that was before a rather bad blunt force to his bonce. Head trauma and witchcraft never went well together. ]
Your word - give me your word! That you haven't done anything to her.
[ This time his journey to his feet is a lot more haggard, finding a nearby wall to support himself with an outstretched arm. ]
If Elijah's right, and there is actually an ounce of something redeemable left of you [ Not in him, because Kol doesn't care about that, he wants to cling to the memories of them when they were younger, when Nik was a good person. ] - give me your word!
no subject
And it won't be his own.
The demand for his word has him snarling. Who is he to make any demands? Who is he to mention any redemption on Klaus' part, as if it affects him in any manner.
Reaching the witch, he reaches to grab him by the neck, lifting him up effortlessly as Klaus braces him against the wall. ]
Here's the trouble with that, mate. I give my word to those who deserve it. [ He has very limited criteria on who qualifies for that special distinction. ] You've yet to prove you deserve a bloody thing, other than the loss of your life.
[ A part of him craved the torture, the prolonged misery that he can give until the witch is begging for death. Unfortunately, that would give him time to cast one of his spells, and Klaus might be impulsive but he is no moron.
Without another word, his face transforms, his eyes turning gold and his fangs making their appearance. With a growl, he's forward and biting into his neck, intending to drink from him until his body is drained dry. ]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McDgDlnDX0Y
Instinctively he reaches up to wrap hands around his brother's wrist, knowing it's pointless to try to get free. ]
You - never even said - a thing. [ The words are choked out and hard to understand, in honesty he's not even sure he wants Nik to understand.
The only thing that's comforting about the whole ordeal is Davina told him he'd come back to life - told him the people in charge didn't like their captives dying and staying dead. For a moment he actually thinks his brother may spare him and simply snap his neck, but then he sees the change on Klaus' face and can't help but try to struggle - fear that had been schooled away becoming prevalent in his eyes, not at all wanting those fangs in his throat.
So when he feels teeth sink through his flesh like it's butter he lets out a strangled noise of pain, almost immediately feeling his grip on Nik's wrist get heavy as the hybrid taps into a major artery.
It's temporary. It's temporary.... It's temporary. He tries to remind himself of this as fear of bloodloss takes over; Davina herself had come back. ]
/gently slides in here like a wrecking ball
She couldn’t lose someone else she cared about. Even if death wasn’t permanent here.
There’s a hum of magic in the air, almost palpable as she approaches - already pooling and channeling what she can glean from the mansion… Not caring who or what she’s pulling it from as long as it’s not Kol. Any fight she might have expected, though, halts when she comes upon them.]
Kol! [It’s screamed more than anything, hands surging forward to send a wall of power at Klaus. The name slips out without a second thought, not having bothered to call him Kaleb for what feels like a mixture of months, though it's only been days from her new memories. It's a confliction she hasn't had time to think about, much less resolve. Not when there are lives, once again, hanging in the balance. She needs him to let go so she can grab Kol and take him somewhere safe. There’s a lethality to her words, anger with a tinge of panic shining in her eyes. He would be okay. He has to be. Klaus can’t take someone else she cares about… Cami said he wouldn’t do this to her again and like a fool, she’d believed her.
All of her rage and hurt pushes against Klaus, ignoring the pain radiating from her ankle and neck. A warm feeling should start to work its way through Klaus’s body - the feeling of his blood beginning to boil… Getting hotter and hotter with each passing second.]
Let him go now!
the most gentle of wrecking balls
Instinct demands he turn on her, tear into her to stop the pain, to force her to explain just what the hell she's doing calling out his brother's name. She has fully incapacitated him, however, so the only thing he is capable of doing is feeling fire race through his veins. ]
(✿◠‿◠)
Always alone. Everyone she risks caring about being torn away from her, doomed to watch them die and not be able to stop it.
There’s a wave of her hand as she forms a barrier between Klaus and Kol, pulling the latter closer to her. With another chant, the body moves into her room and the wall shifts as she steps back into it. It blocks him from even attempting to press at her door, at least long enough for her to ward properly before the magic dissipates. There’s a final jab at Klaus to leave him a hint that she’s not as weak as she was before she got sent home, finally stopping the hell she was raining down on him and focusing her attention on Kol.]
After Kol's return
His brother. Kol is alive, in the body of a witch, and Klaus had killed him. There are many who would insist that guilt was no familiar friend of Klaus', but they would be wrong. There is guilt, something he covers with anger and outbursts. Derailing everything so nobody can truly see what torment lies beneath his skin.
All the comments, the insistence on the nicknames, the cocky personality - all of it was Kol. He should have known sooner, but his rage made him blind. His arrogance made him blind.
There's a barrier on her room, one he cannot penetrate after numerous attempts, so he settles down across the hall, sitting on the floor with his legs stretch out in front of him and waiting. At this point, he's not even contacted Elijah or Rebekah about this new development - this is a conversation that should be between just Klaus and Kol for the moment. ]
sobbing tbh i have a lot of feelings don't touch me im sorry
He'd drifted in and out of consciousness multiple times as he lied in bed with his protector, waiting for her to fall asleep, whilst trying not to fall into too deep of a sleep himself. When her breathing finally slows to one he'd memorized not weeks prior that meant she was asleep, he slides himself out from under her, placing a pillow where his chest had been so she has something to rest her head on.
Quietly and a bit stiffly he heads to her closet to pull out a dark green button down, anything to cover up the bruises and the scrapes littering his skin. Not for Niklaus' sake, Kol doubts he even feels bad, but for his ego's sake. He hovers by the door, trying to get the buttons into the slots with cold fingers, ah the joys of severe blood loss.
A hand moves up to the first barrier, and he begins chanting something under his breath - ah, and the dizzying feeling returns of being over exerted. Two simple spells before and he'd about passed out. This one makes the room a bit wobbly as he struggles past breaking down every single layer to the spell. She'd done well, and it would make him proud if he weren't struggling to break it down.
Finally, he breaks through the last layer, his hand falling past the invisible wall to land on the door with a soft thump. Practically silent to Davina but probably ridiculously loud to Niklaus. Finally he pushes the door open, staying in the safety of her room where his brother was unfortunately uninvited. Only does he notice the warm wet trickle of his blood from his nose after he's connected his gaze with his brother's. It's almost jarring how not okay Klaus looks for someone who heals in mere seconds, but he doesn't say that, he stays silent as he rubs under his nose with the back of his hand.
He hadn't meant for the secret to come out as it did, if anything he'd have preferred it not to have happened at all - the fact that he wasn't Kol Mikaelson kept him off his siblings' radar. He'd outed himself to Rebekah on accident, and Davina outed him to Klaus. And now he has a parasitic hybrid latched on to the possibility of his presence.
He's angry, but more tired and relieved than anything to shove any harsh looks at his recent stalker. Instead he stands there, looking down at his older brother through tired blue eyes. His voice is low, quiet and a bit rough from the short moments of sleep he had gotten. ]
I'm fairly certain I'm going to spend the next waking hour convincing her not to barter with the vendors for the white oak stake. Again. [ Which means he's done it once before. ] So, tell me brother, why are you risking the harvest witch's wrath to stalk me?
never apologize omg
He should have known. There's a half second that he's flooded with so much to say to his little brother, the one killed in the Gilbert's home. He'd intended to avenge his brother, his rage at the doppelganger and her brother blinding him to the approach of one Bonnie Bennett. After that, the cure had taken presence over everyone's life, with Silas making his own appearance to Klaus specifically. Life, as always, moved right along with one change after another, until he was in New Orleans and learning he would be a father.
He inhales before speaking, and he decides to go with slightly annoyed. ]
You should have told me. [ His expression is dead serious. If he'd known it was Kol, things would never had turned out like this. Klaus has daggered his siblings through the centuries, partly in punishment, partly to keep them safe from a father who chased them (chased him) through the ends of the world. He would have never initially killed any of his siblings, especially in the way he'd drained Kol of his blood.
Well...Finn, perhaps. ]
If I'd known it was you - [ He stops, shaking his head before pushing himself up to stand. ] How is it possible?
no subject
[ He keeps his voice down, but the annoyance is obvious.
There's no way Klaus could have known, and Kol doesn't hold it against him, even though he doesn't know how to feel about his own older brother knowing who he is now.
The question has Kol narrowing his eyes at his sibling, looking more angry than tired for a moment. ] Dear old mum seemed to be the only one that noticed when I died - she offered me and Finn a way back as the Other Side collapsed. Not me original body, but it'll do.
[ His hand moves up to rest over the bite marks on his throat. One he'd endured from Niklaus and the other he'd stolen for Davina's own neck through a spell he was glad she hadn't leaned how to replicate.
Kol's bare feet stay planted behind the safety of the bedroom limits, keeping himself from Nik in case he is feeling peckish again. ] She had me being her gofer - but, seeing as she's not here, I can do whatever, I want.
[ He pauses, eyeing his brother with suspicion. ] So you've either come here to threaten me or press me for information - but I've got a bit of a headache - see, I've got this worthless sod of a brother who gave me a concussion and then drained me of my blood so I'm not looking to be very helpful - actually I was hoping to get some kip in. So why don't you get to it.
[ He may be a bit worried as to what Davina would do to his older brother if she woke up and he was still outside huffing and puffing and trying to blow her barrier down. ]
no subject
Which is why he surges up when Kol speaks, his expression a picture of rage. His eyes narrow as Kol continues on, and it's only when their mother is mentioned that things fall into place. Understanding lights his eyes, all of it making sense. His brothers, back from the dead - their mother. The woman who reached through the grave in order to end his daughter's life just as it began.
It's any wonder this family drives him to the brink of unholy anger and murderous tendencies. ]
I don't want to dagger you, bloody moron. [ There's a roll of his eyes here, as if Kol had no justification to have that sort of assumption. Hypocrisy, thy name is Niklaus. ] If you'd just told me who you were to begin with, none of this would have happened. Instead, you preferred the route of being a pain in the ass.
[ Which should have clued him in. ]
And now you're telling me our mother has returned. The woman who wanted to punish us all for her foolhardy decisions. I assume it wasn't for some heart warming family reunion.
[ Not if Mikael is there. Nobody in this family will stay dead, save for the one who probably deserved to live the most. ]
no subject
Maybe you deserve a pain in the ass. [ Literally five year old Kol Mikaelson. ] And every other time in my life you've wanted to dagger me, so forgive me if I'm not that willing to trust you.
[ The witch stands his ground even if there isn't really any ground to be stood from behind a safety net. But he still fixes his brother with a look that clearly means he's trying to be tough and unaffected. ]
She wants to transplant us all into different bodies. Example: Me.
[ If he were feeling better he might have gestured to himself, but he's too busy making an attempt to not look like the utter shit he feels like. Thanks, brother. ]
She claims she just wants to give us the lives we wanted. [ He doesn't know what to think, the only thing he really knows is he doesn't like how his mother treats him, and dislikes his father even less so.
But he's alive and if he can just get his dagger and make like a tree and get the hell out of dodge, well, he's not going to bother wasting his time questioning it. ]
Finn's going by the name Vincent. I told your keeper to stay away from him but she doesn't trust me, instead she feels the need to patronize me. [ God, your lady friend pisses him off, Nik. ] Finn's targeting her as a pressure point I'm sure. [ Technically, he's not lying. But Finn's a scumball and for all the times he's used the tactic of applying pressure on someone's loved ones, thinking about it now, and thinking of someone doing that to Davina, it makes him ridiculously angry at the thought. ]
no subject
There were other times, though, when Mikael was close and Kol or Rebekah were being particularly stubborn, that he did it for their own good. To keep them close and safe, rather than out there and vulnerable, perfect bait for their father. It was always Klaus Mikael intended to kill, but time has shown the man was not above hurting his own children in order to get what he wanted.
Klaus takes a moment to inhale, taking a step so his back is against the wall again. Whatever his intentions, he knows now that protection is not enough to make up for years lost, years he made them lose. He won't apologize, though. Apologies are meaningless. ]
The lives we wanted? [ The very idea of it has him barking out a laugh, a hand going up to rub at his mouth. As if Esther would know about such a thing. The mention of Finn posing as Cami's adviser has his attention fast, a quick narrowing of the eyes before he speaks. ] She had mentioned you said something to her, I don't think she really doubted what you had to say. The situation probably had her defensive.
[ Klaus gives Kol a knowing look. If anything, they are related, and they tend to have similar tactics, and they excel at bringing the defensiveness out of others. ]
no subject
What shocks Kol further is instead of stepping closer and trying to force his presence on Kol - he does the opposite and steps back, giving him space. That alone gives the witch the small and probably dumb confidence boost to step over the threshold, and close the door behind him, leaning against it tiredly for a long moment. ]
Plunging a dagger into my heart and leaving me in a box for countless years?! Stealing my life away from me the same way mother and father did?! [ He pushes himself off the door to step closer to his brother but it doesn't seem to be in anger or intimidation, no it looks as though he's trying to find some sort of connection or common ground. ] You claim to be better than them but you use such similar tactics. [ He's not angry, not at this moment; the yonger Mikaelson is sad. ] Trying to control us. Look what you've become; before those daggers you would have protected me by helping me destroy my enemies.
[ He swallows and blinks back the wetness stinging and welling into his eyes. ] You didn't do it to protect me, you didn't even care when I died, don't feed me rubbish to try to justify your anger. It's always been your way or a dagger to the heart.
[ Trying to calm himself down, he finally breaks eye contact with Klaus, looking past him at Rebekah's door. God, he hoped she wasn't listening. His voice softens. ] I wanted to live a witch, brother, I spent so much time looking for a way out of being a vampire. You kept daggering me and making that impossible.
[ Kol wets his lips, trying to work past the upset and the headache and the feeling that he was going to pass out right there. So he focuses on something else. Cami had been defensive, she always was around Kol. His upset seems to melt into exasperation. ]
She was defensive with me from day one. It's tiring to make nice with someone like that.
[ It's true, he has better things to do than to try to convince Cami that he was a good guy. He moves a hand to rub through messy locks, not even fussed about his appearance anymore. ]
Everything I've told her about Finn and Davina has been the truth. [ He looks up to watch Niklaus carefully. Davina is a dangerous topic that he doesn't exactly want the hybrid even touching. ]

Looking away from his brother, he inhales through his nose before letting the breath go. Regardless of his reasons, he knows now they don't matter. He never claimed to be a rational being, far from it in fact. ] My actions in the past were only borne out of a wish to protect my family.
[ It's as simple as that, even if his understanding of protection was vastly different from his siblings. He won't offer up excuses, or promises that he's completely changed. He just knows it's not an action he would take again. Rubbing his jaw, he glances at Kol, brow furrowed as he lets it sink in - his brother always had a fondness for witches, but Klaus assumed it was always to gain some sort of power. That's what everything has boiled down to for himself, at least. ] Seems as if you've gotten what you wanted now.
[ If Kol's happy, then Klaus doesn't really have anything to deter him from that. Forcing himself to relax, there's a slight curve to the corner of his mouth as he imagines Cami's defensiveness toward Kol. ]
She has reason to distrust people like us. [ There's a slight raising of his eyebrows at that - people like them, who have goals and are willing to do what it takes to reach them. Cami's very good at reading others, even if she might not know the intentions behind their behavior. ] I believe you. Finn presents a problem I hadn't expected.
[ In a rare show of tact, he doesn't voice his opinion on Davina. He's made a promise to let the witch be, and that's his limit. ]

The surprise and confusion on Klaus' face is evident, and Kol shakes his head, his own anger boiling back up. The depression he'd spiraled into had been obvious to him, drowning it in his bloodlust to feel something. ]
Maybe if you'd cared you'd have noticed. No bloodlust, no extreme emotions... I'm just me. [ He likes it, and whilst he hadn't anything against vampires like most witches, he did enjoy being a witch far more, even if he was more fragile now. ]
And yet she still fancies you, curious. [ Is she brave or dumb. Perhaps both. ]
Finn's dangerous, he's powerful. He's been learning out of Mother's grimoires. Don't take him lightly. I know more than him at this point, but he could be a powerful witch if he wanted.
[ Kol pauses, expression shifting to something else entirely. ]
And Nik - if you ever try that again, I will kill you next time. [ He hadn't been trying before, he had just been angry, but that was something he never wanted to experience ever again. He tilts his head to the side as if considering something. ] And then let Davina kill you when you come back. [ There's only so much getting along that they can have, especially after the murder when Kol's very philosophy is an eye for an eye. Nik will get a break on this one though since he hadn't known who he was. ] You hadn't known who I was, and I understand that. [ That's the closest to "I'm letting you off the hook" that Niklaus will be getting from his younger brother. ]
