All my loving, I will send to you | OPEN
Who: Tohru Honda [
breakthecurse] and OPEN
Where: The diner (in the morning) and then out for deliveries!
When: Saturday, February 14th (backdated)
Rating: PG
Summary: Tohru's made Valentine's chocolate and she probably has some for you!
The Story:
It occurs to Tohru at some point that maybe, perhaps, she went a little overboard.
For most of the morning, there's an entire section of the counter populated by dozens of treat bags in perfect rows. When it became clear that there were no murderers running around (like last year) and that the mansion itself would not be doing anything to them on Valentine's Day weekend, Tohru set to work! She's spent the last few days making heart-shaped chocolates and caramels and now...
...well, now she has a lot of them. But she supposes it's better to have way too many than not enough, right?
Anyone who comes into the diner in the morning or early afternoon will be enthusiastically given a treat bag (each of which has a bag of chocolate and a bag of caramel inside) and wished a very happy Valentine's Day. Around three in the afternoon, Tohru hangs up her apron and leaves the diner to Souji and/or Mr. Ned for a little while. She has some deliveries to make!
When she asks the closet politely for something to help her carry the remainder of the bags, it gives her a little red wagon, which is absolutely perfect (so long as she's careful with the stairs). From there, Tohru sets out to make deliveries to all of her friends, as long as she knows where they live or where they might be. She has more than enough for the entire mansion though, so if she bumps into someone the the hall or anywhere else, she will probably (and happily) give them a treat bag as well, whether she knows them or not.
[ooc: Prose or [action brackets] are fine; I'll match!]

The chocolate angel appears.

Happy Valentine's Day, Hana! I brought you some valentine's chocolate, and there's caramels in there too!
no subject
I should kidnap you and take all the chocolates for myself.
no subject
But then there wouldn't be chocolate for anyone else! I might have extras though. I...I think I might have made too many without realizing.

no subject
[It isn't even a question. The extras would have gone to Hana either way, and they would certainly not be wasted.]
Have you had a good Valentine's day so far?
no subject
[And with that delightfully creepy nonsense, she goes into her room, picking something up from the bed - Saki hanajima actually baking or cooking probably won't happen for a while, but she did 'ask' the kitchen for help on this. She holds up a kitty-head-shaped chocolate.]
Besides, loving you is more than enough.
no subject
Aww! Hana! Oh my gosh, it's shaped like a cat! It's almost too cute to eat...
[She follows Hana into her room (leaving the wagon out in the hall, of course), and very gently takes the chocolate. She looks as though Hana just handed her the keys to a car.]
Hana, thank you so much! I really love it! You didn't have to go through so much trouble for me.
no subject
It's hardly trouble when you live in a place that gives you what you ask.
[Have another hug.]
But I am glad you enjoy it. I thought of doing an entire chocolate cat, but that might have been too barbaric.
no subject
I love it so much! Thank you, Hana.
[It's wonderful in so many ways. She's really been missing the Sohmas lately, and Kyo in particular. Even aside from that though, she's always loved cats and it's a very thoughtful gift. It means a lot to her.]
I suppose that's true! I don't know if I could eat it if were an entire chocolate cat. That seems cruel, somehow.
no subject
... Too bad this place doesn't celebrate White Day. You'd be in a mountain of riches after that.
no subject
It's okay! I know most people here haven't heard of White Day, so I wasn't expecting anything, really.
[She just really likes to be able to give things to the people she cares about, that's all.]

I wouldn't mind the company, if you aren't busy. It will be fun!
no subject
She notices Tohru moving down the hall, head tipping to the side a little to look at the wagon she's pulling as Lydia stops just before her door )
You look busy.
no subject
[She makes a determined fist as she says this. She is on a mission today!]
Ah, you have really good timing though! I have something for you too.
[Tohru picks up one of the bags carefully and hands it over with a wide smile.]
Happy Valentine's Day, Lydia!
no subject
( Lydia gives Tohru a curious expression until Tohru pulls out on of the bags and hands it to her. That and the wish are a very cute thing. Oh Tohru )
Thank you, Tohru.
( It's put a smile on Lydia's face anyway )
I wish I had something for you. I've been busy planning.
( Maybe she'll add little gifts to her party for attendees )
no subject
That's okay! You don't need to give me anything. Besides, I know you've been busy getting ready for your party. I'm sure it's going to be a lot of fun!
[Honestly, after how horrible Valentine's Day was last year, Tohru can't say she's expecting anything from anyone. She's always enjoyed giving out Valentine's chocolate to her friends though, and she's never worried about what she would get in return. It's just nice to have someone to give things to!]
no subject
( And Lydia was glad that someone seemed to be looking forward to it. She hadn't heard from anyone else about it but it was a busy day )
Maybe there'll be something at the party for you.
no subject
W-What? Really?
[She also sounds genuinely surprised, as though she wasn't expecting anything at all. So, of course, she shakes her head. She's always modest to a fault.]
U-Um, I don't know what to say! That's very kind of you, but please don't go out of your way on my account.
[What if she put her on the spot by giving her a gift and now she feels like she has to give something in return to the point where it interrupts her party preparations? That wasn't what Tohru intended at all!]
no subject
( And she'd probably now do one for everyone that attended. It had been a nice gesture when Vanessa had done it at her party and Lydia had felt as touched now that Tohru had thought of it )
It isn't any trouble.
no subject
[She's slowly learning that refusing too much can be just as rude as accepting right away. She really is touched by the gesture though. She really wasn't expecting anything in return, and it's nice of Lydia to think of her in return.]
I'll be absolutely sure to come to the party then! I-I mean, I was going to anyway whether there would be anything there or not, of course! I'll definitely be there!
no subject
( There's a big smile from Lydia at that, and she rearranges her notebook in her hand to put the little present in the same hand )
How many more people do you have to give gifts to?
no subject
[Tohru glances back at the little wagon behind her, which is still mostly full.]
...A lot of people, I think. Either that or I made too many to begin with, which...might be what happened.
[She kind of went overboard making candy.]
no subject
If you left the spares in the kitchen with a note I'm sure people would enjoy them.
no subject
[It's entirely possible that she might have made more bags than there are people in Wonderland. It's hard to keep track sometimes.]
I left some in the diner already, in case anyone there would like one.
no subject
( Looking forward to trying them? YOU BET. She might go to the kitchen for a second bag maybe )
Did you make them all?
no subject
[She's being modest. She's spent a month practicing and they're probably very good.]
no subject
( And even if they're not it's definitely a very sweet thought and that is what counts )
I wouldn't have known where to start on something like this.
no subject
[It would be awful if they weren't!]
It wasn't too difficult to learn, if you ever wanted to. I borrowed a book from the library about it. It was a little bit tricky when the closets weren't working correctly, but once they were repaired I just practiced the recipe until it came out right.
no subject
( Watching an expert? You bet. And maybe some taste testing and nice conversation too )
no subject
[It might be fun to show someone else how to make them! It hadn't been too hard to learn, and they would probably have a good time.]

Maybe it's the years in Hell talking, but after being murdered, and terrified, and generally pushing around by non-human forces more powerful than himself, Adam's first reaction hadn't been to act like Mother Teresa. Seeing Tohru out and about doing... nice, seemingly innocent Tohru things... is always a little strange to him.
Today it's even stranger.
If not for other people celebrating the 14th as Valentine's Day, Adam wouldn't have even remembered it's a holiday--it's just another day of the month, one Jo is having a hard time with. It's easy to forget that it's supposed to have a happy origin.
That is, until the moment Adam passes by Tohru. She brings it all back, trundling down the hallway with her wagon and her heart bags.
Holy Christ.]
Don't tell me, it's Valentine's Day.
no subject
She beams when she spots Adam though, and gives him a friendly wave. He's definitely someone she had been planning to look for either way. He was so kind after everything that happened with Angelus...giving him chocolate today is the least she can do.]
It is though! Ah, hold on. I have something for you-
[She reaches down and picks up one of the bags, and then holds it out to him.]
Happy Valentine's Day, Adam!
no subject
Something for me? You know, you really don't have to--
[But it's too late. Tohru's obviously been busy.]
You planned this.
[He wonders for how long. He doesn't know what he's doing on any given day--he can't wrap his head around plotting to get enough chocolate and gift bags together to feed the entire mansion.
Hell, he wouldn't even want to feed some of these people.]
... Uh, thanks, I guess. [After a second, he takes the bag, though he looks a bit awkward about it.] You shouldn't have.
no subject
It felt really good, to be honest. She's only ever bought chocolates for people before, and she would never say so, but not having to go to school gives her a lot more free time than she's used to.]
It's okay! I wanted to. You've been really kind to me, especially after everything that happened...I know it isn't very much, but I wanted to do something nice for you in return.
[In other words, Adam is someone she had planned to give a valentine to from the start - he isn't just receiving an extra package she just happened to have. He was always going to get a valentine, even if she had to leave it at his door. Talking to him after she died helped a lot, and it had been nice of him to check on her anyway, to make sure she was holding up okay after all that.]
no subject
[Laughing uncertainly under his breath helps give him time to think up a response. Someone he hasn't been that nice to thanking him for being a good guy makes him draw a complete and utter blank.
Adam hasn't been able to do much for anybody--that'd be true before the Apocalypse, and it's true now.]
You've got it a bit backward. This is a pretty fancy thanks for me not doing much.
[He peers into the bag. If he could help put some of the mansion's monsters down for good, then that would be worth some thanks, he thinks.]
no subject
Oh no, not at all! You've done a lot! You might not think it's very much, but it really meant a lot to me.
[Just being there for her had been enough. She feels lucky to have a friend like Adam in Wonderland, and it's sad to see him sell himself short like that.]
Perhaps it seems like a little bit much, but...my mom always said we should cherish the people we care about, and to never be shy about telling them we do because you never know how long someone will be in your life. I think that's doubly true in a place like Wonderland, where we don't know when people will come or go.
[She laughs a little bit, softly.] I'd rather it seem over the top than to not get the chance at all!
no subject
Did she ever tell you not to care so much?
[He asks a little satirically, not really meaning it. The sentiment isn't what bothers him as much as that it's like listening to someone describe something he'd known once and forgotten along the way. For him, it had become hard to care. To let himself feel enough to be betrayed--or in Tohru's case, be moved by gestures of kindness.
Looking down at the bag in his hand, he shakes it a little, deciding then and there it's time for a topic change before they go somewhere he's not sure he wants to be.]
Well, thanks... for these.
