Who: Sam and Maxine
Where: The hot springs after dark.
When: Dated back to the hotsprings event
Rating: PG-13 I guess, for language.
Summary: Sam and Maxine take time to relax and enjoy the novelty of being able to soak in hot water
The Story:

The last few weeks have taken their toll on Sam and he's been one of the least affected, at least physically. But it's reawakened instincts, paranoia, that Sam had been working to ignore. It's all flared up again, the wary watchfulness that only comes when you're used to being hunted.

Not having any proper clothes to wear does make make this any easier.

But for now, he's found a pool that's a little secluded but still in sight of the Inn, for him and Maxine to enjoy. He's still worried about her. He's been worried about her a lot recently, unsurprisingly, between mind control and London and demons, he thinks he's allowed to fuss.

It's good to see her laugh. He hasn't seen enough of that recently. There hasn't been a lot to laugh about, here or at home, going from one emergency to another.

"Absolutely. They deserved everything they got!" Going off to get laid they were totally asking for the radio booth to be invaded.

"Uh... no. Not a clue. I remember throwing up the next morning though."

Catching her breath, she grins, opening the bottle and passing it over.

"Yeah, let's try to skip that part this time."

Sam takes a swig and it's nicer than anything they usually have at Abel. Way better than moonshine. He puts the bottle down between them.

"Yeah, it would be pretty embarrassing and I don't want to wake up Billy and Teddy by throwing up." That would just be... mortifying.

"Oho." Grinning, she takes her turn at the bottle, regarding Sam with bemusement the whole time. "So you three are rooming together?"

Sam flushes, staring intently at the water he's splashing with his feet. "Yeah, we are."

"Having a good time?" she nearly singsongs, leaning forward into his field of vision.

He scowls at her, looking steadfastly away when she forces herself into his field of vision. He can't help the small smile that curls his lips though. "Absolutely fine. They're good roommates."

"They make you happy?" Yes, she's absolutely going there, and smugly as anything. But even then there's a care, a warmth to the question.

"Maxine." It's a whine, embarrassed but affectionate and he likes that she cares enough to check. That her first reaction isn't anger that he's having fun instead of working. "Yeah, they really do."

"Then stop being so embarassed about it," she chides, stealing another nip before nudging the bottle back toward him. "You survived the end of the world, Sam! Are you going to let something like dating a couple get to you?"

"I'm not exactly used to this! I've never dated a boy before, let alone two." It's strange and unfamiliar territory right now. "But you're right. I mean, I am also having a baby with a couple so..."
