Wherever I am you'll always be more than just a memory | OPEN
Who: James Potter [
pottershotter] and OPEN
Where: On the grounds
When: 5/22/15, afternoon
Rating: PG?
Summary: James has been feeling a bit moody about things since the last event, so he's off wandering around as a stag.
The Story:
[James' least favorite events are the ones that play with his head, and even worse are the ones that manipulate him into believing he can't trust anyone. He prides himself on his unshakable faith in the ones he loves, so to have that faith shaken so terribly always leaves him feeling a bit sick to his stomach when the event is said and done.
It's more than just that though. There are people missing again, but not just the usual people who seem to flutter in and out of Wonderland ever so often. George and Coach Beiste, two people who had been in Wonderland has long as he has, both managed to vanish in the same week. It's been some time since it happened, since their rooms reverted to their original state and any sign of them disappeared.
Frankly, it's left James a little shocked that he's still here. It's hard not to shake the feeling that he could leave at any moment against his will, and while he does want to go home more than anyone...they have to figure out how to keep their memories in tact first. He has to remember what he's learned in Wonderland, or they will just repeat their mistakes. They'll put their trust in the wrong people all over again.
Then there's the wedding. There's less than a month until the wedding, and while they've been planning on inviting evveryone...many of the people James had wanted present have left Wonderland. It's hard not to worry that he or even Lily could vanish between now and then, and part of him just wants to get the whole thing over with and marry her now, today, while they're both still in Wonderland. But, no. They need to do this right. It's their chance to have the sort of wedding they might never get at home, due to the war.
There's been a lot on his mind since the last event ended, not that he cares to admit it. Instead, he's decided to go for a walk and stretch his stagly legs. He'll be out on the grounds, strutting around and eating grass and interesting flowers, but most importantly he'll be reveling in that slower stag mind where everything seems to stretch forever. As a stag, complex emotions are broken down into something much simpler and almost meditative. He'd much rather sort himself out as a stag than do all this fretting and worrying. Worrying is awful; being a stag is clearly the way to go.
But this stag is unusually friendly, and he's more than willing to come say hello to any curious spectators...and to run far away from anyone who might try to hunt him. Threat of hunters has never stopped him before.]

He knows how that feels. He knows how lonely that can be. But he's limited in the ways he could possibly comfort her, so he decides to just lick the side of her face like an over-sized, antlered dog. There, there. It's gonna be okay.]

[She won't go so far as to think she could possibly make friends, though. That's something she's decidedly bad at -- making friends. She keeps people at a nice distance, letting few close. And fewer still ever see her as she truly is. Her walls are impressive, even though they may keep her lonely in a place without Kat or Renard or even Ysengrin.]
Oh, right... I'm Antimony. I wish I had a name to call you other than "Stag". I fear I'm not very creative with names.
[Well, it's not the worst name you could give a stag.]

But, because she's been so kind, he decides to put in a bit more effort than he usually does while he's a stag. Usually he doesn't mind if people just refer to him as the stag, but he wants to introduce himself...well, "properly".
However, he also doesn't feel like changing back just yet, so he steps back and slowly looks around until he sees what he's looking for - a nearby patch of dirt. He strides over to it and then, in messy, wide letters, he writes out a single word with one hoof.]

When he's done, she looks over the result.]
Prongs...? Oh, your name! Your name is Prongs!
[She smiles a genuine smile, delighted that she's learned his name.]
That's a lovely name for a deer. It's very nice to meet you, Prongs.

Plus, it's worth it to see her cheered up a little.
He bows his head in her direction. It's very nice to meet you too, Antimony.]

Now, Prongs, I'll be back to see you once I find anything out. I suppose I'll have to check the library first, to see what sort of books on magic it may hold. I doubt it'll be so easy, but it may be a start. I'll find a way, though, I'm certain of it.
[She could just be saying that. But she has to believe.]
