Who: Katherine Pierce + YOU
Where: Various locations
When: 06/05
Rating: PG
Summary: Katherine tries to take advantage of her freedom now that Klaus isn't around.

The Story:

[from learning of klaus's departure from wonderland, katherine finally feels like she can actually breathe. she has never truly had the chance to rest because of her life on the run, the constant fear and looking over her shoulder in case he found her even in this place so it's something she's glad to do without for a change.

for the first time she feels like she can relax, free to do whatever she wants without feeling like there is another threat to her life. she knows that klaus could just as easily come back but it'd be stupid not to take advantage of her freedom while she has it.

she starts off in the mansion, wandering the floors for anything interesting she might come across as well as finding herself a new room to settle in instead of switching up every few days like she was previously doing. when she finds herself getting bored though she will head to the bar to get herself a drink or outside towards the gardens. it was amazing how much more she felt like she could tolerate in this place now and that shows in not only how approachable she is but the good mood she happens to be in too]

[ Joshua hasn't quite had his fill of exploring, and likely never will. On this Friday, he's exploring the grounds rather than the mansion. When no one is looking, he lets himself dare to test his powers - an extra flower blooming here, a blade of grass shriveling up and dying there.

He straightens up from where he's been playing with the fish in the fountain, turning his head at the sound of footsteps. He's never seen this woman before, and so he grins at her with the cheeky smile of a fifteen year old boy in paradise. ]

Hi there!
messiahwithagun: (Huh?)

[personal profile] messiahwithagun 2015-06-28 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Joshua sits down on the edge of the fountain, beaming for all the world like this was a normal place full of normal strangers who were all normal. ]

I haven't met you yet! What's your name?
messiahwithagun: (Not bad.)

[personal profile] messiahwithagun 2015-07-01 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Joshua's hardly normal, himself, but then again... Who here is really normal at all? Either way, he seems unfazed. ]

New-ish. I'm Yoshiya Kiryu, but people call me Joshua. How long have you been here?
messiahwithagun: (Think he's got a thing for you?)

[personal profile] messiahwithagun 2015-07-04 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I take it there's no real getting used to it, huh?
messiahwithagun: (Dibs on the rainbow.)

I prefer to think of it as "full of potential." But I can imagine it gets scary.
nascensibility: give me a reason to hurt you why don't you (hold the fuck up what u say)

[Evelyn, who understands the advantages of pure, unfettered freedom, has been spending much of her early summer out of doors. With warm breezes and sand under foot it's almost enough to remind her of the dig sites in Thebes, Luxor, and Philae, inviting environments in an arid climate she misses just a little too much.

Today being one of those "check the test pits" days, Evie is dusty (if satisfied), picking her way back up from the beach and taking a detour through the gardens. Unequivocally friendly the casual sighting of a veritable stranger sees her offer a polite smile, conscious that she appears bedraggled but seemingly unapologetic about the fact.

As is to be expected.
]

Hello. I don't believe we've met.
nascensibility: but at the end of the day he was a broody sad nerd (Byron said a LOT of things)

[Katherine.

The name seems oddly familiar but Evelyn is hardly one to go back and analyze the details of every conversation she's ever had (except for when she is), and it's not polite to stare awkwardly while trying to put one and one together. She moves forward as per the norm, first and foremost friendly.
]

Evelyn. Have you been here long?

[Not that long, or they would have met sooner.]
nascensibility: it's just harder than it looks (no no I can be casual)

Likewise.

["A few weeks" explains it - Evelyn is accustomed to meeting newcomers because newcomers outnumber those of them who have been in residence for far longer. It's not polite to mention how much gilded prison time she's had simply because it is discouraging to others who would rather not be trapped in Wonderland.]

I suppose you're settling in as best you can?

[The garden had been something of a refuge in her time here, a place to clear her head and ground herself. Katherine wasn’t the only one taking a deep breath with Klaus’s departure, especially after the threat Kol told her about. It didn’t mean she should let her guard down, though.

Instead she focused on preparing herself in case he came back or something… or someone worse showed up. Like Mikael again, or their mother. There was no such thing as a break. So, she’d started a little garden off to the side with herbs, basic things that tended to be better fresh from a plant than the closet. With her hair half pulled out of her face, she’d settled in for the day with the grimoire Kol had given her and a few new plants that were ready to go into the ground.

Looking up from where she is, there's a slight wash of magic as she gives the new person a once over before holding out a hand.]

Could you hand me that small pot of African Violets?
unhand: (smarmy bastard)

[It's not that much of a surprise that she runs into Killian at the bar. It is his most common haunt, after all. He's sitting with rum and ruminating over the gloomy future he's witnessed, the one no one else from his world have lived through. It's a terrible burden, knowing what he can share and what he shouldn't.

Which is why it's all the more jarring to see something that's so rare in these parts, especially these parts that serve alcohol. Someone who looks like she's in a good mood?

Killian offers her a charming smile, even if his heart isn't in it.]

Funny, you don't appear to be drinking away your sorrows. That's unusual in these parts.
unhand: (Rum solves everything)

[personal profile] unhand 2015-06-28 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you, now? [Killian raises his glass to her.] Cheers, then. Care to elucidate?
unhand: (well this is awkward)

Ah, always a reason to celebrate. [He clinks his against hers and swallows deep.] They certainly aren't particularly discerning in who they bring here. [Whoever--or whatever--they is.]

[ The great thing about his little vacation away from Wonderland (though he would hardly call it that) is that Hannibal's reservations about coming into the open have calmed over time. For him it had been months after all, and before that he had been keeping his head down long enough. He wasn't so reckless as to wander down to the library or the kitchen at a decent hour, and he was sure to keep a weapon on him at all times, whether hidden in his sock or under his cuff for easy access. Still, he's out and about now, even if the hours he keeps have shifted markedly.

Tonight, at 12:10 AM to be exact, Hannibal Lecter decided to go for a swim. A shark doing his laps, one might say. With a brisket braising he has the time, and the benefit of a brisket is that he doesn't have to stand where he is more expected to be by those who want him dead for very long. The sound of water lapping against his the tile of the pool and reverberating against his ear drums is peaceful, and he can understand intimately how Will Graham could find such joy in it. He always has himself, in the calm of the water and in its tumultuous nature.

The problem with water though, is that it does absorb sound. He didn't hear Katherine walk into the pool, and he continues to swim, absorbed in his thoughts and in his exercise. ]
