Entry tags:
the morning that i was born again
Who: Antimony (
fireheaded) and OPEN! Feel free to tag in even if we haven't plotted anything for the event!
Where: Anywhere around the mansion
When: the 12th-15th
Rating: PG13 - R for cannibalism and that sort of general gruesomeness!
Summary: Antimony is a ghoul. She is telling herself she can absolutely kill people. She absolutely can't, but that won't stop her from trying.
The Story:
[In some ways, Antimony wishes she were better at making friends. Maybe if she had some, she could easily get alone with them and take a bite. Then again, if she were friends with a human...
She couldn't imagine ever eating Kat. The thought upsets her. Maybe it actually is for the better that she can hardly make friends. Then she doesn't have attachments, and she can eat without guilt.
Guilt. She has so much guilt. Guilt over being born like this. But she can't dwell on that now. She has to survive, and to do that, others must die. That's just the way of things. That's the way it's always been. She can't do anything to change that now.
Once she manages to burn her way past Elsa's ice wall, she takes to the rest of the mansion. Looking for humans. Looking for food. She stops at the coffee shop first, to gather her thoughts with a coffee and perhaps scope it out for human patrons.
Later, she goes to the diner, where she eats a slice of cherry pie, thinking of when she ate cherries with Kat. She had to throw up later, then, and she'll have to throw up again now. But it's a good cover for finding real food. Plus, if she's seen eating pie, then no one can think she's a ghoul.
She can also be found wandering around in general, perhaps drawn to the library or the gardens.
She's absolutely determined to find food. She can't be driven mad by hunger. That would expose her to the entire mansion.
No, she must do this carefully. She will eat. It's just a matter of who.]

6/14 (?)
When he returns to bus the table, he gathers the plate and tilts his head at her.]
Should I get you anything else? Water? Coffee?
no subject
...Ah, oh, coffee sounds nice.
[She forces a small smile, a polite one.
She didn't even think of it before, but the easiest meal here is actually... him. She already knows him, at least a little, and he probably wouldn't be suspicious if she wanted to get him alone.]
Thank you, Souji. When Miss Chuck told me about the diner, I didn't realize you worked here, too.
no subject
[And somehow, it became a full time job.]
Let me get your coffee.
[He disappears for a moment and comes back with a mug of coffee, a small bowl of individual creamer and sugar packets, and a clean spoon. He sets all three items on the table in front of her, unaware that she probably doesn't need or want two of them.
Straightening, he puts a hand on his hip.]
Are you feeling alright? You look kind of out of it.
no subject
I've, ah... been having kind of a difficult day. [It's not a lie. Normally she'd insist she was just fine, but now she wants him to stay with her. She has to come up with some excuse to get him to follow her out of here.] I came here to get my mind off of things, but maybe that's not so easy.
no subject
Fortunately, that passes without any further temptation not to be a Nosy Parker and he tilts his head, looking at her with a hint of curiosity and a hint of concern in his otherwise neutral expression.]
Is something going on? [Maybe she's homesick? Having trouble adjusting? She hasn't been here that long, after all.] Or just one of those days?
no subject
No, she needs something that might get him closer to her. Maybe something that's also not entirely untrue.
She sighs and takes a moment to gather her thoughts, before she starts speaking, a little unsure.]
I was just... I was meant to be spending the summer with my best friend. But now I'm here and... she's not. I don't really have anyone here. [She wouldn't dream of revealing thoughts like these under normal circumstances. But this is dire. She needs food. And what better way to get it than to say...] I'm just lonely, I suppose.
[She forces an uncertain smile.] It's silly. Plenty of people are here alone. I know that. But they find new people. I fear I'm not very good at that sort of thing.
no subject
[As easily as Souji generally gets along with people, he doesn't actually have many friends in Wonderland anymore. It's hard to keep track of people, and there are many whose names he doesn't even know. It's kind of an odd feeling--it seems like he used to know everyone.]
You know me, though. That's a start.
no subject
I suppose I do.
[Oh right, she's supposed to be trying to kill this boy. She looks away and swallows, forcing the smile not to fade as she contemplates what she's actually doing.
She's hunting. That's what she's doing. She's just... doing what she can. Trying her best. So what if that means hurting someone who's nice to her. Who would have no reason to assume she would attack him. That's just the rule of her existence.
She looks back at him and the smile is a little easier to slip into. She doesn't think of the implications behind that.]
When does your shift end? Perhaps we can spend some time together.
no subject
He glances around to find that only a couple of tables have occupants now.]
Ned should be able to close up without me. Give me about fifteen minutes?
no subject
Fifteen minutes gives her enough time to go to the bathroom and get rid of the pie she ate, too.
After she takes care of that, she stands by the door, arms folded behind her back, smiling to herself. Souji really is very nice.
Of course, she's going to have to eat him. And that's not the best start to an actual friendship. Plus she's going to have to figure out how to deal with the fact that people who die come back, here. He'll know she's a ghoul once he does.
Maybe she can just... kill him again before he can tell anyone? He has died three times. If he dies two more, who knows what'll happen to him.
She suddenly realizes this is a terribly morbid conversation to be having with herself in her head and that her smile has long faded.]
no subject
Where did you want to go? It's not completely dark yet, so it might be nice outside.
[He suspects nothing she might be planning. Ghouls have never seemed to be a problem in Wonderland--though he can't say with certainty that he knows who is one and who isn't--and he hasn't gotten the memo about the closets yet.]
no subject
[It's not as private as she'd like, but it's not as if she'd get away with inviting him to her room. She'll just have to be very careful, and wait until they're definitely alone.
She starts leading the way downstairs, realizing that she's actually going through with this along the way, and telling herself she can really do it in her head.]
no subject
When they reach the front doors, he pulls one open, letting her go out ahead of him. Then joining her outside, he stretches his arms over his head, fingers interlaced. Several of his vertebrae pop, but he ignores them, looking around at the garden in front of them before looking at Antimony.]
Which way?
[He'll let her lead, since she's the one less acquainted with the area. She can use it as an excuse to explore, he supposes.]
no subject
She picks a random direction.]
I suppose we can just start walking this way... until we find a bench?
[And she leads, letting him follow beside her.]
So what is your home like? Do you live in Japan?
no subject
I'm from Tokyo, but I lived in a little town in the country before I got here. I liked it there a lot.
What about you? Where are you from?
no subject
[They turn a corner, and come upon a bench. Antimony motions for Souji to sit down first.]
no subject
How old does that make you?
[He takes a seat, looking up at her.]
no subject
Fourteen.
[She looks at him, and her eyes turn black and red, kagune erupting from her shoulders. It flickers and dances, giving the impression that she's on fire.]
I'm sorry, Souji.
[The flame-like kagune erupts, shooting projectiles at him before she pounces at him.]
no subject
Sitting on the bench, he doesn't have too many options for movement as it is. At such close range, it's impossible for him to dodge the initial onslaught from her kagune, which rips into his torso and limbs.
He manages, mostly by reflex, to lurch sideways as she leaps at him, but that's about it. The movement sends ripples of pain through him, as though she'd shot bits of her kagune at him a second time. It leaves him gasping for breath, which makes him choke and cough on the blood in his throat.]
no subject
It's him choking. Feeling what she did to him. Look at him. He's already bleeding so much. What is she doing?
She's eating, that's what she's doing. She needs to stay on track. Don't get distracted. If she shoots again, she might be able to kill him. He might not be able to dodge, injured as he is.
But she can't do it. She can't actually go one step further and try to kill him.
She'll dwell on the whys later. Now, she needs to eat. She's so close now. She pounces at him one more time, teeth bared, aiming to land on him and take a bite through his clothes.]
no subject
The pain fades somewhat under a surge of adrenaline and he reaches out with one hand. Not for Antimony, though. He needs to summon and attack. He can see the glowing card in front of him. All he has to do is grab it.
Something makes him hesitate. He can hear her eating the chunk of flesh she bit out of him--it's a wet, nauseating sound--and he can't help thinking that she needs to eat. She can't help that.
He lowers his hand again and the card in front of him vanishes.]
no subject
She stops to wipe her mouth with her sleeve -- pointlessly, as there's too much blood all over her chin to just wipe away. Really all she succeeds in is to smear blood onto her cheek. But before she can go back to eating, she catches a glimpse of his face and she drops him like he's shocked her.
She stares at him for a while, then slowly climbs back up onto her feet and backs away from him. The logical part of her brain is telling her to kill him now, get rid of him before he can tell others about her, but the rest of her is just focused on the image of him in pain.
She opens her mouth to say something -- then just turns and runs away, leaving him there on the ground.]
