The monster mash, it was a graveyard smash
Who: April Ludgate-Dwyer and everyone ever
Where: Realside Ballroom
When: HALLOWEEN
Rating: PG-13?
Summary: ITS A HALLOWEEN PARTY
The Story:

[it's no secret that halloween is april's favorite holiday - she'd been planning this since her network post in september. she'd been ignoring the network and the tapping on her own mirrors in favor of just having this one stupid thing, and she really does go all out. it's a testament to the fact that when april puts her mind to something she can do anything she wants (with the help of a few gracious wonderlanders, and the magic here) and somewhere, leslie is just so proud, she's probably exploding. gross.
when characters arrive, they'll find the ballroom transformed into a creepy halloween paradise - tons of pumpkins, fake spider web (or is it???), fake dead bodies (or are they???), and a plethora of other decorations carefully handpicked by april. she didn't just ask the ballroom to do this, she worked out every detail.
there's an open bar and more candy than you ever needed in your life, plus a bunch of different Halloween themed food (spagehtti for brains, apples for bobbing). there's a dance floor playing a mix of mostly halloween music but also some other stuff even she can concede her taste in german death reggae isn't for everyone. and honestly, she actually wants people to have a really good time.
april is dressed up as moritica addams from the addams family and will actually be around mingling with people and being sociable - maybe that's the true horror of the holiday.]

Lily Potter | OTA
While James and Sirius had cleverly dressed to match, Lily opts to do something different, though she still spends a great deal of her evening with the dog and stag in question, unwilling to drift too far from James in particular. He needs to enjoy himself and smile tonight more than anything, and she can be seen pulling him out on the floor to dance with her on more than one occasion. Otherwise, she'll be happily making the rounds, as bright and social as she can manage while still keeping a worried eye on her husband, and can be found almost anywhere in the ballroom throughout the night-- though she'll be giving those corpse decorations a slightly wider berth.]

To others, he probably seems like himself, fluttering through the crowd, but to his friends it may come off differently - he's nervous. He's nervous, and he feels silly and unlike himself for worrying, but every Halloween has been bad thus far. He wouldn't put it past Wonderland to strike him dead just for laughs.
But he refuses to think about it. No. Instead he returns to Lily's side, two drinks in hand and offers her one.]
Having fun, Princess? [It's not among his usual terms of endearment, but since she dressed up as a fairy princess she should really expect it by now.]
no subject
Tonight was not the night to dwell on it, difficult as it might have been to put it out of her mind.]
It's no Hogwarts Halloween banquet, but it is something.
[April's gone all out, that's for sure.]
What about you? Even without real ghosts to mingle with, it's still pretty good, isn't it?
no subject
Mm, it is a bit odd without ghosts around, but I suppose it makes sense there wouldn't be any in a place where death doesn't stick.
[As though ghosts might come out just for the occasion. It treads a little too close though - he doesn't want to talk about death. Not when he feels a half a step away from being the only ghost there. He shifts away from the subject smoothly.]
All things considered though, it's a fantastic party! April really came through. Nothing compares to the banquet, but it's certainly better than anything we've had in Wonderland before.
no subject
She really did go all out, didn't she? I can't say I'm disappointed.
[Even if she had bristled, initially, not getting April's sense of humor in the least.]
Wonderland could really do with more parties, don't you think?
no subject
But James smiles against her mouth and turns to plant a kiss on her in the same place, at the corner of her mouth.]
It really could - more parties and fewer events would be fantastic, honestly. Or no events. No events and lots of parties. That sounds good, doesn't it?
no subject
[One she'd fully support-- although some of the events have been fun, here and there. Not many, but enough that she's not sure she'd want to abolish them completely.
The nasty ones can sod off, however, and the memory-siphoning? That can go, too.]
So, am I to call you Padfoot for the rest of the night, considering your costume? That could be very confusing.
no subject
No, I think that'd be a bit much. Then Padfoot would have to start calling himself Prongs and how would you ever tell us apart? Granted, you are absolutely the most brilliant person I know, but even you might have some trouble.
[Yes, because certainly no one can tell them apart in their ridiculous costumes. What accurate disguises they're wearing. Such a challenge.]
no subject
[That would be truly awful, no question about it.]
I think your costumes might be a bit too good.
no subject
[Another man might be jealous but James just laughs along.]
We'll just have to stick together then, won't we? That way you'll always know which Prongs is your Prongs.
[It's a little silly though - after all, he'd planned on sticking by her side either way. It's just another excuse to do so.]
no subject
[She links their arms together, sliding closer to him so that their hips touch.]
I don't think I could have come up with a better solution myself if I'd tried.
no subject
Hm...maybe not, but I'm sure you'd've come up with one just as good if you wanted.
[This one is just fine with him though - close together with the love of his life, making what's scheduled to be the worst day of his life something happy, comforting, and full of love.]
no subject
Ah, there's that infamous James Potter ego.
[It's not nearly what she'd felt it was when they were much younger, but his own teasing merits a bit in return.]
What do you think, Mr. Potter? Feel like dancing?
