"Was?"

[ Oh. Her face falls a little, but it... makes sense enough. Ten years is a long time and Wynne hadn't been a young woman during the Blight. Still, Robyn is less enthusiastic than she might have been when she moves on to discuss the Antivan rogue, her mind still on the mage. ]

Ah- Yes, Zevran. Teryn Loghain sent him after us, but we were able to best him, and he was impressed enough to join our party. It was in defiance of both his contract on our lives and the Crows; he's a noble ally and has a very good heart. I'm not often grateful for death threats, but that one worked out just fine.

[ Beat. ] He also had a penchant for flirting with just about everyone.

I meant in what I had heard back home. [ He's quick to offer although she's probably caught him out anyway. ] It's hard not to put that in the past tense when we're here now.

Funny how things like that work out. [ Brennan chuckles as he watches the elven rogue interact a moment. ] We had business with him, briefly. I've never met him in person, but he contacted us once. He feared he'd accidentally offed one of Leliana's agents, not realizing who the man worked for and assuming the worst. His letters didn't go into a great amount of details, but he seemed to be having some difficulty with the Crows. Leliana arranged assistance for him to get out of the Free Marches, if I recall.

I... yes, that makes sense.

[ Though it does make her wonder how all of her friends are faring, at least the ones she hasn't heard so much about from the others. ]

The Crows came after him once they realized what he'd done. But, I think he found our company somehow more agreeable and wouldn't return. [ She seems a little more somber, watching Zevran. ] I'm not sure how friendly he was with the other assassins, but we had to fight against them to move on our way. I can't imagine it was easy.

[ Robyn still isn't entirely sure why he'd given it all up to join them on their hopeless quest. ]

I imagine it's hard not to find your company more agreeable than the Crows. Not that I've had a lot of interaction with them personally, I merely know them by their reputation. Leliana, however. I think she took a bit of a fiendish delight in her agents outmaneuvering theirs a time or two, just for the sheer challenge of it. She's a bit terrifying, I hope you know.

[ He's grinning as he says it, his glance shifting to where the bard sat beside the fire. ]

Leliana? No, not at all! [ Robyn laughs, shaking her head and grinning, eyes also trained on the redhead nearby. ] She has her... past, her time as a bard, and I've no doubts on what she did then and must do as your Spymaster. But, she's incredibly sweet. Loving, generous, and...

[ The Warden tilts her head slightly, studying the other woman in her memory. ]

She's really special. [ She says finally, with warmth. ] Leliana taught me a lot about the world and about myself that I don't think I would have ever learned otherwise.
