OPEN | well, i don't know where they come from but they sure do come
Who: Everyone and some adorable, rolly polly, purring kittens.
Where: Ballroom.
When: April 4th.
Rating: PG? It's kittens, how bad can it get.
Summary: As advertised, Anders wished for some kittens, now there are kittens, please adopt a kitten, kittens everywhere.
The Story:
[In the ballroom with plenty of space for them to romp around, Anders and Alistair set the kittens loose.
When he'd been thinking about them, Anders had had a particular image in his mind: a bunch of kittens sitting in a padded wicker basket like something out of a graphic illustration or inspired by a toilet paper brand. Who wouldn't find that adorable? That's exactly what he'd gotten, and exactly what they load the kittens up in to move them downstairs. Once the basket is deposited in the center of the room, some stay napping in its cushioned confines, others tumble out to explore.
Anders takes the time to bring up food, water, and litter. After some internal debating, he scatters some cat toys around the room, too. Welcome to Wonderland's one and only kitty daycare, for a limited time only!]
(OOC: Don't worry about threading with Anders or Alistair if you want to join in just for kittens. Consider this a mingle log where you can make your own posts, tag around, etc.)

Emma Swan, new victim in all of this. [Maybe not new to the realm, but the idea of cat ownership? Definitely. If she had just stayed out of the room...] Is there anything I need to know about her? And would you know if there was?
[She's clearly happy with the kitten, holding her close to keep her from having to test her ability to climb, but there are a lot of cats in here. How could they possibly be keeping track of all of them?]

[He's still working on what to call said club - the name is either going to be 'Don't blame me for this' or 'the Grey Pawdens'. As for her questions?]
Probably yes. And no, not a clue. [He manages to sound rather proud of his ignorance on proper cat care, standing there surrounded by scampering kittens who are hopefully staying inside the ballroom and only climbing a few things they shouldn't be.] But it can't be that hard. The old mouser I knew growing up never needed looking after. Except for one time when he got hurt but most days he'd claw anyone who came near him.
[So, by that logic, any cat should be easy enough to look after, even young ones. Hopefully. He can offer-] He liked it when I gave him my ham at dinner. So food's probably a good place to start.
[Isn't he Mr Helpful?]

So stay away and feed her?
[Staying away is going to be difficult. Her little furball doesn't seem like the type to claw at anyone who comes near her. She's using her paws to see how far she can climb across her new owner, but thankfully the kitten is small enough that one hand against her back is all it takes for Emma to keep her from taking a tumble.]
I don't think cats are supposed to eat ham.
[That much, Emma knows. She's a natural.]

[Because he's pretty sure he still has scars from that old tom but he thinks Emma should be safe from such a fate where her new friend is concerned, given how happy it is to climb her without causing harm. Unless the cats are secretly magic and going to transform into huge, blood-thirsty monsters. Which seems unlikely.]
No? He liked it well enough. [Because cats are great at knowing what is and isn't good for them. But hey, Emma already has some idea what to do so.] But if you know that then you should do just fine!
[Really. It's that easy. Trust him. Now onto the important business.]
What are you going to call her?
no subject
[She's never had to name anything. Henry's probably lucky he ended up with Regina, she's not sure what kind of name he'd have gotten stuck with if it had been left up to her. He's the one who decides the codename of every mission they fall into, because things like Operation Pumpkin just don't sound half as good as Operation Cobra. If she's going to ask anyone for help, it's probably going to be her son.]
My son's a little better at that kind of thing, I'll probably ask him for advice. Why, any suggestions?
[If there's something they've already been calling her, Emma will probably go with it. As long as it's not something that's likely to get her confused with every other cat in the place, she's not opposed to keeping an existing name.]
You think the wardrobes will spit out something she can climb?
[You know, other than Emma.]

[He may be the better option for naming the cat. Alistair has fantastic taste in names, just ask him, but they're not always to everyone's tastes. His own cat has been dubbed Purrlock, a joke only those familiar with the darkspawn will get, but he thinks it's clever which is all that matters. But coming up with a name for Emma's aspiring mountaineer requires some thought. The cat is going to have to live with whatever name she gets the rest of her life so it has to be a good one.
As for supplies, that at least he can answer easily.]
I don't see why not. [They can make just about everything else it seems.] But she seems pretty happy with what she's got. [And she's not hurting Emma so why spoil her fun?] You could just let her ride your shoulder all day, it'd be great.
[What harm could possibly come of letting a kitten ride her about all day?]
no subject
[No shredding the sweaters, no claws in her shoulder, no growing cat to worry about? Great plan. Perfect plan. All of this is obviously going to work out well.
She has to wonder if the kitten is going to grow into a cat here, too. Henry says no one's aged. Does that apply to animals or is it strictly people? Perma-kitten might be a possibility, and if it is, it's one she'd like to be ready for. She knows Lucky has been the same size the entire time she's known him, but was he smaller when Henry got him? Emma doesn't have the memory of that to know for sure. Maybe it's something she should ask him.]
I'll figure it out. But if you think of a name, feel free to send it my way. I'll run it by Henry.
[ The kid gets the final say. He's never steered her wrong.]

The question of whether or not the kittens are going to be getting any bigger is a good one though and not something Alistair himself has considered. He's been told he doesn't need to worry about getting old in Wonderland. Even though he still needs to shave which is weird. But magical products of the mansion? Who can tell. At least if they do stay kittens forever it won't really be a problem. It wouldn't be like coming here with a baby and knowing it would never grow up.]
Alright, I will. [Or perhaps not. Naming their new pet seems like a nice thing for a mother and son to do together.] Is it just the two of you here? Or is your entire family with you? [There's perhaps a slightly wistful note to his voice as he asks but no more than would be expected from most people who might have been separated from their family by Wonderland.]
