Movie Night!

Who: Anyone who wants to come watch Dinosaur movies
Where: The Movie Theater, Fourth Floor
When: Friday April 8th, 8pm
Rating: PG-13 for Raptors
Summary: Jurassic Park Movie Night
The Story:

As soon as people start showing up in the theater, a gentle song begins playing in the background. They will see the obvious screen on the back wall, but what's more, the seating is surrounded by prehistoric foliage. And in that foliage, stands a hand full of herbivorous dinosaurs. They seem to be grazing on the vegetation without a care in the world. If someone reaches out to touch, the holograms will destabilize as their hand passes right through them only to form back together once the disruption is gone. Even the vegetation seems to be a holographic projection along with the imitated grass floor and night sky. In the four corners of the room, set into the ceiling, are small domes that flicker ever so slightly as they cast and regulate the projections. The occasional T-Rex roar will echo in the background of the music, making the small herd of Parasaurolophus look up with a fright, then lower their heads back down.

The lights dim and the movie begins, the noise surrounding the holograms quiets as to not interrupt from the movies, only to return during the short breaks between films.

If you stray over to the refreshments table, thick brush and tall grass will conceal a deadly pair of raptors lurking. Appropriately themed snacks are set up on the table, including a few sweet treats courtesy of Darcy (including jello shots).

Occasionally, an unwary snacker will come to a fright as one or both of said hunters will pop out of the grass with a sharp, chittering cry. Lucky for the unfortunate victim, the jumpscare is all there is to worry about. The tricky little raptors will slink back down into the grass and lie in wait for their next victim. Don't spill your popcorn, its just an illusion.

You're welcome.

Before

[It feels like forever since they had one of these. And it's sorely needed in his opinion. The last event had been one of the rough ones and they need the help right now.

Besides, Jurassic Park is a classic and awesome and holds up pretty damn well.

Sam shows up early, helping to set up the cinema that's become a familiar place of safety now. There foliage is a nice touch, and Billy's decorations are always awesome. He spends plenty of time chatting to people as they arrive, and lingers around the snack table.

During

Sam settles down with a large bowl of popcorn. Some bits still manage to make him jump. But it's more comfortable than anything these days, like sitting down with a book that you've read a hundred times. It's part of the old world and he appreciates that more than ever. Who knows if there will ever be another Jurassic Park movie?

Sam beams when Billy comes to sit next to him, and shifts up a bit to make sure he has space on the couch. "Go ahead," he said warmly. "It's good to be doing this again."

"Things have been kind of weird round here for a while huh," Sam replies. The events had taken their toll and it had just never felt like the right time for movies and popcorn.

"Nothing here is really normal," Sam replies. "But yeah, it does seem to have been worse recently." He has no idea why that is, but the events seem more brutal. Could be due to the place, or maybe they're just getting people from worse worlds these days. "But this is great," Sam adds, giving Billy a warm smile. "We need this."

"For some people this is hell," Sam shrugs. "That puts people on edge. I can understand it. You start to feel guilty for enjoying yourself. But you can't feel like that, because otherwise you'll never have fun. And that's no way to live." The guilt would eat you alive, even though the people before would never wish that for you.

"It does seem to enjoy throwing stuff at us," he agrees. "Feels like being in limbo, I guess. I know it's not terrible for me but... it still feels a bit stagnant. Things can't change here. Not really."

"Seems that way. I know I didn't remember a thing when i went back," Sam says. It's disappointing. He hates that if he goes back he'll forget Billy. It hurts thinking about it.

"Maybe not. We're getting a bit meta here. I've never been into philosophy."
