Movie Night!

Who: Anyone who wants to come watch Dinosaur movies
Where: The Movie Theater, Fourth Floor
When: Friday April 8th, 8pm
Rating: PG-13 for Raptors
Summary: Jurassic Park Movie Night
The Story:

As soon as people start showing up in the theater, a gentle song begins playing in the background. They will see the obvious screen on the back wall, but what's more, the seating is surrounded by prehistoric foliage. And in that foliage, stands a hand full of herbivorous dinosaurs. They seem to be grazing on the vegetation without a care in the world. If someone reaches out to touch, the holograms will destabilize as their hand passes right through them only to form back together once the disruption is gone. Even the vegetation seems to be a holographic projection along with the imitated grass floor and night sky. In the four corners of the room, set into the ceiling, are small domes that flicker ever so slightly as they cast and regulate the projections. The occasional T-Rex roar will echo in the background of the music, making the small herd of Parasaurolophus look up with a fright, then lower their heads back down.

The lights dim and the movie begins, the noise surrounding the holograms quiets as to not interrupt from the movies, only to return during the short breaks between films.

If you stray over to the refreshments table, thick brush and tall grass will conceal a deadly pair of raptors lurking. Appropriately themed snacks are set up on the table, including a few sweet treats courtesy of Darcy (including jello shots).

Occasionally, an unwary snacker will come to a fright as one or both of said hunters will pop out of the grass with a sharp, chittering cry. Lucky for the unfortunate victim, the jumpscare is all there is to worry about. The tricky little raptors will slink back down into the grass and lie in wait for their next victim. Don't spill your popcorn, its just an illusion.

You're welcome.

[ And snatch it she does. Once it develops, she looks it over and almost immediately groans, agonized. ]

Oh, come on. This is awful. [ Then, in case there was any confusion: ] My face, I mean. I look-... I dunno. Crazy.

[ Like, about to stab a fake dinosaur crazy. ]

You really don't mind if I just... never let this see the light of day again?

[She wants to say, "You always look crazy," but decides there's been enough teasing for the last five minutes. Maybe she'll hold back on the jokes for the next five. She just smirks slightly.]

Hey that's a good shot... [She likes to think so, anyway.] That's at least worth showing around.

[ RUDE, max!! ]

Uh, obviously you think that, since you took it. If you'd made this face, you'd probably tear it up.

[ She doesn't do so herself, though... yet. ]
mypartnerintime: (Thanks for the morning grope)

[Come on, young girl in the midst of the post-apocalypse, fight for survival? You have to be a bit crazy to make it out of something like that.

In a week or so Max will be really sore that she hasn't probed Ellie about the outbreak.

But obviously she's not bring that up. And hey, it's basically Ellie's picture now, she can do what she wants with it. So Max shrugs, even though it'd hurt a tiny bit to see it ripped up.]

It's good for at least a laugh a month from now.
backpacking: (joy and misery)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-04-17 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's more "cynical" or "vicious" than "crazy," but, sure! ]

Alright, alright. [ If somebody else had asked her not to do it, she probably would've done it anyway. Ellie heaves a sigh, pocketing the picture. ] Happy? It's safe now forever. Probably.

[ No promises, though. She might regret this later. ]
mypartnerintime: (Better than I remembered)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-04-18 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's fairly certain that it'll never see the light of day again. Who knew Ellie would be embarrassed about something like that! Max holds up her arms in fake surrender, smiling widely.] Okay, okay. I'll never mention the nasty picture again.

[It's kinda nice how Ellie didn't rip it up. She should be nice.] I can take a totally cool one of you with the raptor, though. [She gestures at the hologram hiding in the bushes.]
backpacking: (put out the fire boys)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-04-21 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hey, she may be an Apocalypse Kid, but she's still a kid. ]

You can mention it, I guess. [ mumble mumble ]

Oh! Wait, yeah, do that! [ Ellie moves to stand next to the raptor, making her hands into claws and baring her teeth before growling for as long as it takes Max to snap a shot. ]
mypartnerintime: (I hope I still like photography)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-04-21 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Max readies her camera and takes the picture after a moment- but this time it's quickly followed by a second flash, just so she has two copies. The pictures slide out of the camera, one after the other.

It's a pretty good shot- the raptor's head is at an angle just over Ellie's shoulder, the beady eye staring at the girl. Max chuckles to herself.]

Good one.
backpacking: (we have no chance)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-04-25 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it look cool? [ Ellie sort of bounces over to the other girl, grinning. ] Wow, that one's much better. Glad we did that.

[ Maybe she can forget about the Ultra Embarrassing one now. ]

So, was your official job to snap shots of people getting scared, over here? For shame, taking advantage like that.
mypartnerintime: (You are such a dork)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-04-25 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's an opinion, Ellie. The embarrassing one and this one are about equal in Max's eyes. She hands over a copy to the younger girl.] I'm glad we did too.

[Max shrugs with a smile and a slight eyeroll.] Okay, okay. I'm sorry about the picture. I just thought it'd be funny. [Which it was, by the way. And judging from Max's smile, it still is.] At least I'm not plastering it on the network.
backpacking: (coming and going)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-05-02 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Ellie sticks the copy of the nicer picture (in her Opinion) into her pocket with the other, more unfortunate one. ]

Nah, it's alright. [ No, wait, she'd just be berating Max for it. Damn. ] Yeah, if you did that, we'd have a problem. I have a reputation to uphold, here. A basically nonexistent, relatively unknown one, but, you know what? We all have to start somewhere.
mypartnerintime: (It'll be used awesomely)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-05-02 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Max chuckles.] Maybe someday when you have your name in lights, I can tell everyone about the time Ellie got jump-scared by a fake raptor.

[Not that Max is one to talk. She gets 'jump-scared' by teachers calling her name in class. Not that Ellie has to know that- Max has a 'reputation,' too.]
backpacking: (i did not choose him)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-05-05 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
You won't have proof, 'cause I've got the picture.

[ Sorry, Max. She's not giving it up so you can blackmail her later. ]

And it looked real! Or-- it was loud, okay? It's just a totally automatic reaction to somebody who has some freaky thing shrieking at them.
mypartnerintime: (Cute robot panda keychain)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-05-05 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe you. It's not like I'd have reacted any better. [Chances are it would have been much worse. But no one will ever know, now. Thank god for that.]

Man I can't wait for you to see this movie. I get the feeling you'd love it. And you'd probably end up liking the raptors. [After that bad first impression, anyway.]
backpacking: (bring your buckets by the dozen)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-05-09 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[ No one will ever know... unless Ellie sets up a weird, holo-raptor scare of her own. Maybe a Jaws one would be a better bet, for Max. ]

Hey, rude. [ She laughs, though. ] I'm excited, too. I didn't get to see a lot of movies before this, so... now I'm trying to see them all.
mypartnerintime: (The universe is taunting me)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-05-10 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[No it would kill her, and that wouldn't be fun for anyone!

...She would seriously scream at least.]

Jurassic Park is a really good start. Trust me. [She tilts her head to the side as she realizes something.] I didn't see you at that Twilight Zone one we did a few months ago.
backpacking: (joy and misery)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-05-16 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
There was another one? Aww, man! [ Ellie looks genuinely disappointed, because... well, Twilight Zone sounds like a cool thing, whatever it is. ] I don't know if I heard about it, or... what happened. If there's another one, let me know, okay? So I don't miss it this time.

[ She's one for two right now, which is a failing grade. ]
mypartnerintime: (You are such a dork)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-05-16 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. I'll make sure to shoot you a text. [She smiles and gestures back at the theater seats.] Make sure you get a good seat for the movie, or you'll regret it. And I'll see you around?
backpacking: (bring your buckets by the dozen)

[personal profile] backpacking 2016-05-18 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Text. [ Because that's a thing they can do in Wonderland and that 'normal' teenagers do in worlds that have no Infected. ] I definitely will. To both, I mean.

[ Because no way is she missing the next movie, and of course she'd stay in touch with one of her closer friends in Wonderland. ]

Alright, see ya. [ Ellie says, scooting off toward the front row with a curt wave. ]
