The Story:



As soon as people start showing up in the theater, a gentle song begins playing in the background. They will see the obvious screen on the back wall, but what's more, the seating is surrounded by prehistoric foliage. And in that foliage, stands a hand full of herbivorous dinosaurs. They seem to be grazing on the vegetation without a care in the world. If someone reaches out to touch, the holograms will destabilize as their hand passes right through them only to form back together once the disruption is gone. Even the vegetation seems to be a holographic projection along with the imitated grass floor and night sky. In the four corners of the room, set into the ceiling, are small domes that flicker ever so slightly as they cast and regulate the projections. The occasional T-Rex roar will echo in the background of the music, making the small herd of Parasaurolophus look up with a fright, then lower their heads back down.

The lights dim and the movie begins, the noise surrounding the holograms quiets as to not interrupt from the movies, only to return during the short breaks between films.

If you stray over to the refreshments table, thick brush and tall grass will conceal a deadly pair of raptors lurking. Appropriately themed snacks are set up on the table, including a few sweet treats courtesy of Darcy (including jello shots).

Occasionally, an unwary snacker will come to a fright as one or both of said hunters will pop out of the grass with a sharp, chittering cry. Lucky for the unfortunate victim, the jumpscare is all there is to worry about. The tricky little raptors will slink back down into the grass and lie in wait for their next victim. Don't spill your popcorn, its just an illusion.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't done the same myself on more than one occasion. [Though he might refrain from mentioning how recent some of those incidents have actually been.] You managed to put it out rather quickly-- that's more than can be said for some.

Entirely understandable. It's quite an adjustment for most of us, no matter where you're from. Luckily, practice makes perfect.

[Though let it be known that he's always been perfect without need for practice. Pass it on, tell your friends.

He smiles warmly, though instead of taking her hand to shake, he bows and lightly takes hold of it to brush his lips against its back.]

[ at first, bonnie jumps a little, mouth falling open as her eyebrows lift in surprise. she blushes a little, and then composes herself when he offers his name. ]

Oh! It's you! I'm-- I know Brennan. He said you study magic from other worlds.

[ he'd also said that dorian would make an impression. file brennan under SUPER DUPER TELLS THE TRUTH, then... ]

Do you? I suppose that makes things simpler, then.

[His smile blooms wider-- Brennan seems to have been making all sorts of friends lately.]

Yes, he's quite right-- I'm quite interested to see what other worlds have to offer, especially if it might help us crack a few of the mysteries this place has presented us with. What else did he tell you?

[Certainly that he's devastatingly handsome, he's sure.]

He said you'd make an impression, and that you'd spend as long as possible picking my brain. He wanted to introduce us, but with how things have been lately...

[ not to mention she spends a lot of time holed up studying. ]

Ah, yes. The opportunity simply hadn't arisen.

[He doesn't seem too terribly troubled by that, at least-- but he does lean in a bit further, looking her over with interest.]

Well, while I'll admit that it might not be the best idea to try and 'pick your brain' during the film, you will have to let me do it sometime. Your magic-- is it a natural gift?

Yeah. It's hereditary, actually. That's how I was learning, since we don't have schools.

[ omg he's already starting this is adorable and sort of intimidating. stop slouching, bonnie bennett!!! ]

I'm in the magic studies room a lot. Or we could talk over coffee sometime?

I've become fond of the study myself-- and I certainly wouldn't say no to the latter.

[Please teach him about how coffee has changed over the years, Bonnie. He will be delighted.]

[ bonnie smiles, and firmly nods once. dorian might get the feeling that if she doesn't hear from him, his adorable ass will get hunted down!!! and then she hurries into the theater proper. ]
