Movie Night!

Who: Anyone who wants to come watch Dinosaur movies
Where: The Movie Theater, Fourth Floor
When: Friday April 8th, 8pm
Rating: PG-13 for Raptors
Summary: Jurassic Park Movie Night
The Story:

As soon as people start showing up in the theater, a gentle song begins playing in the background. They will see the obvious screen on the back wall, but what's more, the seating is surrounded by prehistoric foliage. And in that foliage, stands a hand full of herbivorous dinosaurs. They seem to be grazing on the vegetation without a care in the world. If someone reaches out to touch, the holograms will destabilize as their hand passes right through them only to form back together once the disruption is gone. Even the vegetation seems to be a holographic projection along with the imitated grass floor and night sky. In the four corners of the room, set into the ceiling, are small domes that flicker ever so slightly as they cast and regulate the projections. The occasional T-Rex roar will echo in the background of the music, making the small herd of Parasaurolophus look up with a fright, then lower their heads back down.

The lights dim and the movie begins, the noise surrounding the holograms quiets as to not interrupt from the movies, only to return during the short breaks between films.

If you stray over to the refreshments table, thick brush and tall grass will conceal a deadly pair of raptors lurking. Appropriately themed snacks are set up on the table, including a few sweet treats courtesy of Darcy (including jello shots).

Occasionally, an unwary snacker will come to a fright as one or both of said hunters will pop out of the grass with a sharp, chittering cry. Lucky for the unfortunate victim, the jumpscare is all there is to worry about. The tricky little raptors will slink back down into the grass and lie in wait for their next victim. Don't spill your popcorn, its just an illusion.

You're welcome.

I'm not about to argue.

[ Steve has done what he can to accept that to most people, he's more of a myth than a person. Pushing past that barrier hasn't always been easy, but Natasha has never made him feel like he's in a glass case to be studied.

Neither of them, in fact. When Steve had first met his Natasha on the helicarrier, she'd hardly seemed to send him a second glance. Now he knows her well enough to realize she had probably been studying him closely all the same. ]

But hey, if you've only seen it once, this will be pretty new to you, right? [ They can try to enjoy it together, if she decides to stick around. ]

A crack about my observational skills, Rogers?

[ It's a trap, of course, but Natasha climbs calmly into the seat next to him. She's not tactile — not in the way she's seen him need, but she presses her palm to his forearm all the same. ]

[ Steve glances over at the touch, not entirely sure what's meant by it. With Natasha, every touch is purposeful, but maybe she's just trying to set him at ease. ]

If you want to get defensive about it, sure. [ He's teasing, a smile forming at the corner of his mouth. ] I just mean that at least it won't be too boring for you.

[ Then again, she probably wouldn't have shown up here if she thought it would be, right? ]

[ Smiling back, ]

Me? Get bored? Never.

[ There's all kinds of people here to observe, and well, she's sitting next to her friend, which is a gift in itself. ]

Good.

[ With that settled, Steve leans back into his chair, easing some of the pressure off of his back. He lets out a breath and then hands his tub of popcorn over to Natasha. ]

A lot of people die in this movie, right? I'm guessing that's kind of the point.

The point is you shouldn't try to bring back dinosaurs.

[ Aw boo. She felt better taking the popcorn from him -- old predatory habits. Natasha pops a few into her mouth. ]

Don't play god, yeah.

[ It is kind of disappointing, though. Imagine if they could actually bring them back. Sure, it's probably a bad idea no matter how you look at it; Steve had seen science go wrong so many times. Even so, he can't help but wonder. ]

How about I predict who dies and who survives?

There's nothing to bet here, anyway. He's gonna be disappointed.

Don't underestimate him. Come on, how many deaths can Rogers predict, let's have it.

[ The douche lawyer is already dead, so that's out. Granted, that one had been obvious anyway. ]

I think both the kids and the woman will be safe. [ Even movies tend to shy away from that kind of violence. ] The guy who keeps going on about chaos theory is probably going to die, though. I'm on the fence about the head paleontologist.

[ He glances over and raises an eyebrow. ] How am I doing so far?

[ The smile reaches her eyes. Natasha's body language otherwise is unreadable. ]

Oh, I'm not telling.

Fine, be that way.

[ Steve smirks at her and then looks back to the screen. ]

I'm not sure about the Hammond guy. He seems like the obvious one to kill off, but he has grandkids, so...

[ And now he reaches over to take popcorn while she holds the container. ]
