Who: Mettaton and YOU, WONDERLAND!
What: Mettaton’s birthday!
When: August 16th, 7pm to 9pm
Where: First floor, Room 50/52
Rating: W for WILD PARTY (Ok no more like PG-13 just in case)
Summary: Mettaton has a birthday party that involves creating an entire theater for his first ever Wonderland performance!

The Story:

On every wall in Wonderland (and quite a few statues and pillars) citizens will find a poster bearing the beautiful visage of resident robotic star, Mettaton! Emblazoned across the top of it are the letters M-T-T in sparkling gold inks, surrounded by an oddly rectangular robot, with one wheel sticking out the bottom. Anyone who knows will recognize that the arms look the same as Mettaton’s regular arms and could hazard a guess that the rectangle is supposed to be him?

Below that, there is a picture of Mettaton posing with a mic stand with a singular spotlight shining down on him. Below THAT, there are words:

HELLO BEAUTIES AND GENTLEBEAUTIES OF WONDERLAND! IT’S YOUR RESIDENT HEARTTHROB AND CELEBRITY DELIGHT’S BIRTHDAY TODAY! THIS NIGHT ONLY, COME TO ROOM 50 ON THE FIRST FLOOR FOR AN INAUGURAL PERFORMANCE BY YOURS TRULY!

COME MARVEL AT WONDERLAND’S NEW THEATER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS! AFTER MY PERFORMANCE AT 7PM ANY AND ALL ARE WELCOME TO BRING THEIR DREAMS TO THE STAGE!

NO PRESENTS REQUIRED; ONLY YOUR PRESENCE! THOUGH THEY CERTAINLY WON’T BE TURNED DOWN!

FOOD AND DRINK WILL BE PROVIDED THANKS TO THE KINDNESS OF WONDERLAND’S BOTTOMLESS KITCHEN

[He's grinning, happy to see his cousin so happy.]

[they lower their voice so only mettaton can hear]

....still eat them? ghost food, i mean?

[they look at the box and smile.]

...i know, but i wanted to...

it's not much though, don't get your hopes up, haha....

[Mettaton lowers his voice in kind, speaking in a conspiratorial whisper.]

Oh yes. I was a bit surprised about it myself, but I suppose my magic is still connected to who I am and not just this body.

[He holds his hand out for the box.]

I'm sure it's lovely.

[They give it to him with both hands, and immediately anxiety hits them that their gift is too personal, that it could blow their cousin's cover, before remembering that their gift would seem generic to anyone who didn't know him well. we're really close friends, they rehearse in their head as he opens it.]

[Inside are three fancy journals, each wrapped in a different shade of pink tissue paper. Each has a glittery pink sticker that says "MTT" on the inside cover and in the bottom of the box there are four pages of different variations of the "MTT" stickers, as well as a fancy pink fountain pen]

i.... i know you like to collect journals....
but your collection is back ho-in the underground...
so i....
i thought you might...
i mean the closets can give you anything you want and i guess if you wanted a new collection of journals you would have started it by now so it's kind of a silly gift

[they start rambling nervously]

[Mettaton lowkey wants to cry. Just a little.

Instead he smiles a bit of a watery smile, picking up one of the journals and touching the cover.]

Oh, darling, I love it. I really do.

[He looks at Napstablook, still holding the journal tight.]

I suppose I should get back to writing my diary. How else is anyone going to write a biography about the great and wonderful Mettaton if I don't give them something about my inner thoughts?

They let out a little laugh.

"yeah, haha... you're-"

They stop, seeing the tears in their cousin's eyes.

"don't, don't cry metta... "

Their eyes shimmer with tears as well as they smile back, not even really knowing why Mettaton is almost crying, but eyes brimming in response.

"that's my job.... i'm the crybaby in this family... remember?" They joke softly, putting a little nub hand on his arm comfortingly.

[He laughs, a low and quiet one. Despite being trapped in Wonderland, he has to admit that he's thankful that he gets to see his cousin again.]

Right, right, of course. I shouldn't be crowding in on your territory.

[Napstablook's giggle is a rare sound, even to Mettaton's ears, but they giggle softly, floating up and bopping Mettaton's forehead with their own. It's harder now that he's seven feet tall, but the affectionate gesture still feels familiar]

I'm excited for your performance. I've only seen you on TV so far, so this'll be my first MTT Live Show.

[The giggle, the familiar head bop- this has already been a better birthday than he thought he would get in Wonderland, and his smile doesn't hold back in how much he appreciates this.]

If that's the case, I'm going to make this my best one yet! Just so it can exceed your expectations.

...but you already have exceeded my expectations, metta!
look at this place... look at the food....

[they've always felt a little in awe of him, and they can't hide their amazed expression]

If this already exceeded what you were expecting, then you will be blown away by what I have in store.

[So proud, so full of himself, so all of the things that make Mettaton, Mettaton.]

This has been my pet project for a little while now, and I wanted it to be a surprise for all of my fans! Though next time I will ask for help.

[If there's one thing they know about their cousin, it's that he is always dazzling. sometimes literally, almost blindingly.]

Oh yes! Wonderland is dreadfully dull, and it seems I have been called upon to liven it up! Which I shall graciously do, of course.

[He can't help it if he becomes a Literal Star. Monsters like Mettaton can never be dimmed.]

[Napstablook scoffs a little.]

[Mettaton nods in the affirmative, his eyes suddenly catching onto a clock on the wall across from them.]

My performance is coming up! I better head to the stage.

[He puts his new journals under his arm.]

I'll catch you afterwards, Blooky! I expect your utmost attention while I'm up there!

i wouldn't miss it for the world....

[They smile as the see them off, meaning it with all their heart.]
