Who: Mettaton and YOU, WONDERLAND!
What: Mettaton’s birthday!
When: August 16th, 7pm to 9pm
Where: First floor, Room 50/52
Rating: W for WILD PARTY (Ok no more like PG-13 just in case)
Summary: Mettaton has a birthday party that involves creating an entire theater for his first ever Wonderland performance!

The Story:

On every wall in Wonderland (and quite a few statues and pillars) citizens will find a poster bearing the beautiful visage of resident robotic star, Mettaton! Emblazoned across the top of it are the letters M-T-T in sparkling gold inks, surrounded by an oddly rectangular robot, with one wheel sticking out the bottom. Anyone who knows will recognize that the arms look the same as Mettaton’s regular arms and could hazard a guess that the rectangle is supposed to be him?

Below that, there is a picture of Mettaton posing with a mic stand with a singular spotlight shining down on him. Below THAT, there are words:

HELLO BEAUTIES AND GENTLEBEAUTIES OF WONDERLAND! IT’S YOUR RESIDENT HEARTTHROB AND CELEBRITY DELIGHT’S BIRTHDAY TODAY! THIS NIGHT ONLY, COME TO ROOM 50 ON THE FIRST FLOOR FOR AN INAUGURAL PERFORMANCE BY YOURS TRULY!

COME MARVEL AT WONDERLAND’S NEW THEATER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS! AFTER MY PERFORMANCE AT 7PM ANY AND ALL ARE WELCOME TO BRING THEIR DREAMS TO THE STAGE!

NO PRESENTS REQUIRED; ONLY YOUR PRESENCE! THOUGH THEY CERTAINLY WON’T BE TURNED DOWN!

FOOD AND DRINK WILL BE PROVIDED THANKS TO THE KINDNESS OF WONDERLAND’S BOTTOMLESS KITCHEN

"oh um... not me i..... i was a human..."

They can still remember how it felt to have lungs that filled with air, a stomach that hurt when they were hungry, the sensation of stubbing a toe, the sensation of having toes- being human was awful.

The one thing they miss is being able to close their eyes or blink. Out of everything, they wish they could have kept the eyelids.

"oh, yeah, I can still do dapper blook.... but i have to be crying first, haha...."

"Ah, a human. How fun that must have been for you. Did you enjoy being able to use your feet to walk and taste human food and feel the softness of grass?"

Asgore has a much different understanding of physical embodiment than you do, Nickleback.

Also, what in the world is a 'Blook'?

"I hope you don't cry too often, then, Nickleback, just to make a head... thing."

"i mean, i can cry at will... i don't always have to be sad, haha"

They have resigned themself to their fate. Their name is Nickelback now.

What even is a nickelback?

"Human food tasted... the same, just .... heavier. more corporeal, i guess"

~~Don't get them started on the sensation of digestion~~

"Ah, how useful. Crying at will." Does Asgore actually believe this? It's hard to tell. Maybe that would be a useful ability.

"You were probably glad to be back to normal, though. I know I was," said Asgore, who had spent the event as a mutant goat-man with super strength and the ability to shoot fireballs. You know, a totally new and different experience for him. "Being used to being a ghost and all."

"yeah... it was.... weird, to say the least, haha..... but it also.... made humans less scary?"

They look as if they're coming to this realization as they say it. They were terrified of humans before they became one. What an odd thought.

"How pleasant. I'm glad that your interactions with humans, and even becoming one for a time, have encouraged you to better understand them. Monster-human relations in this... Wonder-land... are very important." Your king smiles down upon you, Nickleback. "And hopefully they come to understand you better, too."

"I am sure that there are many humans who would be scared of ghosts. You are an oddity to them as they are strange to you. You must do your best to try and overcome your own misgivings as I am sure that many humans can understand your own feelings about them, but aimed at yourself. Commiserate over your shared discomfort, and work to bridge your differences."

They never thought about the possibility of a human being afraid of them.

"...are you sure? i can't do much of anything,"

Their voice gets low.

"i mean....even human children are extremely powerful..."

"The reason why Monsters were imprisoned in the Underground was because we were feared by the humans. Sometimes the powerful can be afraid of things that have no way of hurting them, Nickleback."

"i mean... doesn't that make it worse?
when things are frightened.... they tend to lash out more....
and i mean... they cant really... hurt me..... but.... "

"Well, but aren't you also afraid? Why shouldn't a human be just as afraid of you. You might hurt them." You know. With your lameass tears or something.

This gives the ghost pause.

"i.... i guess...."

"There, you see. You're empathizing with humans, now. Aren't you proud of your emotional progress?"

"i.... i mean i guess, um....."

A pause

"how are... things going... .with you?"

"Oh well, I suppose I am adjusting to living in a new sort of prison... there is at least sunshine and new sorts of flowers, and all the tea I can drink. And a chance to get to know some old friends again."

Prison, the king says.

"so you're.... um.... from one of the good times, huh?"

"Ah, well, no. Not. Perhaps. Frisk did not kill anyone, but I was killed after attempting to battle them, and they were forced to take me on... and then someone struck me from behind after Frisk spared me and, well. Here I am. Dead but not dead."

"oh.... i'm sorry....."

They've heard of that happening before, and they try to remember who it was.

"....like Miss Toriel?"

"Ah, Tori, I... we... don't speak much. I'm afraid I don't know."

By 'much' he means 'at all.'

"oh, um, she said she died before she came here... "

Something in his expression makes the ghost worry that they shouldn't keep talking about their best snail farm customer.

"are you... enjoying the party?"

"Ah, that explains much. If. If she died before she came here, well... it must have been at Frisk's hand." ASGORE FUNTIME DREEMURR.

"The spread is very nice, and TV's Metatton put on quite an entertaining performance. What about yourself?"

"....yeah." WOW WHAT GREAT PARTY CHATTER.

"oh, uh, it's been really really nice. mettaton is my c- closest friend.... an i've uh.... i've never seen him live like this before. isn't he amazing?"
