The Story:

Beginning on September 1st, something more than grass has suddenly grown near the southern walls. A second mansion has sprung up overnight! With only three floors and a strangely makeshift look about it it doesn't seem to compare to the original at first glance, but there's plenty enjoyment to be had inside!

The first floor houses a series of restaurants, diners, and coffee shops. No matter your style or intentions, this floor will find something to your taste! (Provided you, too, really love the colour red.) Of course all foods and services are free, and provided invisibly and without delay - no need to tip the unseen magical forces! ♥

The second floor is this mansion's beating heart - quite literally so! Disco beats shake this massive dancefloor 24/7, and the open bar provides party refreshments for responsible hydration and/or happy cocktail hour. Invisible DJ not playing your song? Man the turntables yourself, or sneak off into the karaoke corner! By the way, it doesn't take a keen observer to notice the common theme of this floor's design.

(Although it falls to the curious party guest to notice the peculiar paint splashes on one of the walls, and a little patience to stick around long enough for the travelling spotlights to reveal their message.)

Despite the busy party below, the third floor is surprisingly quiet, and pleasantly so. It invites crisp and clean comfort, be it to sit, to sleep, or to mingle in the comfy common rooms in front of their warm chimneys. From single bedrooms to large dormitories all guests have plenty of room to make use of fluffy pillows galore, be it to sleep on, to fight with, or to build.

[He also remembers being told that Mystic Falls was destroyed, but clearly that's a lie. Everyone's presence indicates otherwise.]

〈 it's hard for bonnie not to look as disappointed as she feels. it seems like everyone's from her distant past. at least in the case of elena, it's a blessing of sorts. 〉

I think I'm actually speechless. And here I thought nothing could surprise me anymore. 〈 wait hangon-- 〉 But you haven't been here, have you?

God, no. [He shakes his head, taking a sip of his tea. Mm, just as good as he remembered.] I've been uh, here and there.

Nowhere near as exciting as this rabbit hole, I can assure you.

〈 bonnie rolls her neck because oh no that sure isn't gonna fly 〉

Here and there? What's that supposed to mean?

It means I don't know where I've been, Bonnie.

[At least Stefan's too amused to dance around the truth for much longer.]

I can tell you which star systems I've visited, and maybe name a couple of planets, but I sure don't know where they are in relation to here, or to Earth, or... anywhere, really.

〈 bonnie's mouth opens to retaliate.

aaaand then it shuts. she stares at stefan, hard, before giving in: 〉

You're telling me you've been, what? Hitchhiking around the galaxy?

[Even if she did? Stefan reallllllly couldn't blame her.]

More or less. The paycheck's more than made up for it.

〈 the ribbing has begun. bonnie is not buying this, but she's definitely willing to make a mockery of it (sorry that she's a brat feel free to flip her off...) 〉

My 401K, my health insurance... even free stuff if they're feeling generous.

[Laugh all you want, Bonnie, he's got picture proof! Don't mind him casually sliding over some of his favorite photographs: nebulas and swirling star systems right by his bedroom window. Also, futuristic body scanners, since he's spent way too much time in the med bay.]

This is crazy-- and I say this having lived in a prison dimension and now sitting in Wonderland with you.

〈 but she sounds more accepting, considering. her fingers trace over the photos as if somehow she'll be able to absorb the information better. her brow furrows at the futuristic machinery and she looks up in question. what this, bud? 〉

I don't know. I think the rabbit hole's crazier.

[He peers down at the photo of the med bay, and his expression softens in understanding.] Oh, that's uh - that's my med bay. Not as good as a hospital, but it does what it needs to.

Med bay? That's like a clinic, right?

〈 she smiles, eager to hear that he's been involved in medicine in some capacity. for all they'd been through together, bonnie's not actually sure she knows what stefan cares about-- aside from the people in his life he doesn't want to lose. and maybe that's not even an accurate assessment. jeez, mystic falls. way to stunt emotional connections between people... 〉

Exactly like one. Just, you know, more futuristic.

[Headtilt. Now that he thinks about it, he doesn't remember much about what Bonnie's been up to. He knows bits and pieces from Elena (including stories about cheer camp), but nothing big and/or concrete.]

What about you? What've I missed in the last few years?

Oh-- uhh, well I learned to play guitar?

[ she shrugs, but-- that's kind of cool, right? something normal people share. not nebulas and science but-- it's something meaningful. and not ... as serious as the fact that she's been in hiding and all the fun ptsd that dredges up. ]

[stefanged]

No way. [He perks up almost immediately.] You should've brought it up sooner.

If I'd known you wanted to play, I would've taught you myself.

[Sure, Stefan's not great, and he's certainly not headlining concerts anytime soon. But music's kept him sane when little else has, and well - when his friends barge into his room for a jam session, he can't exactly turn them down.]

What? [ omg bonnie stop being skeptical of stefan 24/7 it's not cute anymore wow we get it you're judgy ] I mean-- I just didn't realize...

[Honestly, Bonnie's scowling is downright adorable. Not that he'd say so to her face. It reminds him a lot of a certain sister-in-law and her judging ways...]

Realize what? That I'd actually lighten up every now and then?

Don't worry about it. [He laughs too, before taking another sip of tea. It's probably one of those eternally-filled ones, too. Stefan's a little obsessed when it comes to his caffeine consumption.]

I find that hard to believe. I thought you'd graduated, what, cum laude?

[ she purses her lips, bashful but also proud? can that be a thing someone does at the same time? if nothing else, she's comfortable in this little bubble-- stefan can suck down all the caffeine he needs to help keep her sane. ]

Oh, well tests are easy! I think I almost broke Enzo with my inability to let him show me easier ways to chord change...

[Stubborn until the very end. Stefan stifles a laugh, because that sure sounds like Bonnie. Must be a universal constant or something.]

Knowing him? Maybe. But if he's stuck around this long, you must be somewhat decent.

[ she just shrugs, and tries to swing the conversation back around by picking the picture back up to get a closer look. ]

OK, but what kind of stuff did you do working in a med bay, anyway? This thing looks really complicated...

[He raises an eyebrow - oh, he knows his sister-in-law's ways - but he'll take the change in subject for four hundred.]

Anything your average doctor did. Physicals, your regular check-up, administering vaccines or antibiotics... We didn't exactly have hospitals unless we were planet-side, so I was the next-best thing.
