+ FOURTH WALL EVENT: BEACH PARTY +

Who: E V E R Y O N E
Where: The Beach!
When: Sept 5th to Sept 10th
Rating: G to PG-13 (please label higher ratings, thank you!)
Summary: Are the other parties a little too crowded and chaotic for you? Come and chill by the water! And don't forget to have a look at the Fourth Wall Master Post for event rules, puzzle clues, and more places to mingle!
The Story:

Beginning on September 5th, much of the shoreline will be taken over by a massive beach party! As with all good Wonderland parties, it will be run day and night, always mysteriously tidy and always with food that replenishes itself.

At various points along the beach, there will be wheel barrels full of candy and treats, and torches for people to claim as their own. There are also volleyball nets, and when darkness falls they will light up like Christmas trees for those who want to play well into the night.

There are many places set up to sit - some with tables, some with pillows and blankets, many with shade, and some even dug out in the sand. There is music playing, but the source is unclear.

However, there's one thing that the curious may find - a message in a bottle. It will regenerate within five minutes if taken, allowing as many curious truth-seekers to investigate as possible.

[ As he rubs the lotion between his hands, she quickly gathers her hair and pulls it over her shoulder, out of the way. ]

Really? [ There's surprise apparent in her voice, her head turning slightly to glance at him. Caitlin isn't quite sure what to make of that statement. She's hardly someone to be considered "adventurous," so he can't mean it that way. ]

I guess I could stand to ask for help more. Old habits die hard.

It's good to have some independence.

[ the lotion smoothed over her back, raymond moves his hands back to the top where his thumbs move in little circles. they press, halfway between rubbing the lotion in and kneading caitlin's lean muscle. ]

But it can be hard to break habits.

[ her skin is soft. he shouldn't be allowed. ]

[ Caitlin makes a soft sound of appreciation as the feeling of his hands on her back. She probably shouldn't enjoy it, but she tells herself it's okay. It's all just friendly, right? ]

Habits aren't all bad, really. But they can lead to complacency or monotony.

[ She sighs as his thumbs move over a particularly tense spot. ]

All reasons why habits are hard to break.

Do you want to break them?

[ one of this hands remains at the knot, thumb pressing deeper into the tight muscle. the other moves to brace her from the front, palm rounding over her shoulder to give him leverage. ]

I—mmmm.

[ She takes a sharp breath and flinches as he digs in on the knot. It hurts, but not terribly, and she's sure he didn't intend to hurt her. ]

Some of them, I do. It's hard when you find yourself sliding back into patterns you were sure you'd beaten.

[ it's nice that he's behind her; doesn't have to hide his smile when she flinches. he eases up, but doesn't apologize. ]

The circumstances are certainly extenuating. Wonderland's either very kind or very harsh.

[ It's that little thing that gives her the slightest inkling that something's off. Ray may miss a few things, yeah, but she isn't sure he'd miss visual and verbal indicators of pain. But she's willing to chalk it up to oversight. ]

It definitely switches between the extremes. "Middle ground" is practically unheard of. Or it feels like that sometimes. I guess it's better than things being all bad, all the time.

And that's not considering the inherent subjectivity of good and bad.

[ his "oversight" is revisited suddenly, when raymond decides to press in that same place with more force than had rewarded him with her flinch. despite how much he's enjoying flying under the radar, the temptation to elicit the reaction again is just too strong. ]

There might be some — ah! [ Her cry comes as she recoils from the pain. The spot had already been sore, but now it radiates out, the surrounding muscle and tissue protesting the treatment.

Caitlin has a terrible feeling and an even worse one that it's too late in coming. She reaches up to push away the hand rounding over her shoulder in front.
] Okay, Ray, I think that's enough.

Oh?

[ his grip on her shoulder remains firm despite caitlin's pushes. ]

I'm not sure I agree. It doesn't seem like you actually have any real concept of what constitutes enough, actually. Especially when it comes to pain.
