The Story:

Ah, Hogsmeade.

They say it's the Vegas of the wizarding world. Or they would, if wizards knew anything about Vegas. Or maybe they'd say it because they don't know anything about Vegas. It doesn't really matter.

What's important is that Hogsmeade is only a hop, skip and jump away from Hogwarts (Hogsmeade, Hogwarts? Coincidence? Wake up, America!), and is host to a number of exciting prospects for people of all ages, provided you're Year 3 or older. Perhaps you're a professor searching for a stiff drink at the Hog's Head Inn to wipe away the stress of the week's classes? Or maybe you're a hapless student with fresh eyes for the little hamlet, eager to try your first Butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks?

The village has something for everyone, with all the assorted businesses a thriving witch-and-wizard town could need: grocers, an apothecary, magical item mechanics, clothiers, sporting goods, bookstores, and the Wizarding Wireless Network headquarters.

[A jug of Butterbeer hits the table before Rose comes into view. The sight of two raised eyebrows waiting for Jo, along with the brunette's best; 'I know you're up to something and I will work out what it is even if you won't tell me', look.]

[Jo almost startles at the sound of Rose's voice, offering a mock-scowl in reply as she reaches to refill her glass from the jug provided.]

Just you.

[Well, that part is true.]

'Avoiding' might be more accurate.

Avoiding huh. [Sliding into the seat opposite Jo, Rose waits to fill her own glass. The attitude she'd been carrying around during practice, vanishing now that they'd made it to Hogsmeade.]

You know I'm not going to let it go there, right? [Details, Harvelle. She'll harass them out of you if need be.]

[Of course she's not. Rose has never been one to let an opportunity like that go. Jo sighs heavily, folding her arms across her chest. Rose, at least, would get it-- Rose spent even more time jeering at the other House teams than she did.]

There might have been a bet. With Lauchlan.

[So much time.]

A bet? [Eyebrows raising.] The kind you won I hope?

[I mean, with the avoidance she doubts that but still.]

I'm-- not actually sure who won.

[The terms seem fuzzier now than they had when they'd been set, plus she didn't want to admit to the fact that might have lost to Simon Lauchlan of all people.]

It was-- you know, friendly competition. I thought so, anyway.

Uh huh. [Rose calls it 'friendly competition' when bones are broken in the process so she knows how that goes.]

So are you going to keep drawing this out or can we skip to the part where I decide if I need to have my own version of friendly competition with Simon?

He didn't do anything.

[At least, nothing that merits having anything broken or bruised in retaliation.]

We just settled the bet with ice cream. But it was... awkward?

[Please don't make her talk about feelings, Rose.]

Just not so sure I want to run into him down here again. It was weird, the way we left things yesterday.
