Summary: Today is the 2 year anniversary of the coffee shop, it's time to celebrate in a not!typical way.
The Story:

There was something to be said for distraction sometimes being the best medicine. The past month had been interesting, but it was time to move forward and celebrate a milestone. The coffee shop had been around for 2 years and somehow was still standing after everything. It had gone through a facelift about 5 months ago and was about to go over another baby one to make room for the celebration. The look of the shop hadn't changed, but there was suddenly a locked door to room 16 as of 10/11 that hadn't been there before considering the shop had previously spanned 2 rooms. Posters were placed all over the mansion as well as a digital invitation in the evening of 10/11, announcing the celebration.

As of the 13th, the coffee shop is decked out with streamers, balloons, and confetti to celebrate the 2 year anniversary as well as some festive luau-style drink options to tie into the plans for the evening. The menu features a lot of frozen and chilled options that pair nicely with the party later. As people start to arrive, there are two dressing rooms available with closets for anyone who needs to change as well as a plethora of towels. Drinks are available both in the coffee shop and at the bar in the cinema room, alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions. There's also a wide assortment of food and goodies that come with a little warning about moderation on all fronts while in the tubs. Once everyone's settled in and the movie starts, there'll be a little bottle delivered to each hot tub for the group to decide whether or not they'd like to add some bubbles to their party. First movie of the evening will be a little more family friendly with The Goonies, the second film, Labyrinth, going a little further on the risqué spectrum. Various pool-type toys are available, including beach balls to casually toss at other people or the screen.

[ see, she was all for making fun of damon, but it turns out the joke's on her.

laughter dies in her throat a little as the shirt comes off, her eyes helplessly wandering south. this shouldn't be a big deal. people go to hot tub parties all the time. they enjoy the beach together, the pool together, any activity that requires them to be half-naked. so why are her cheeks on fire?

elena clears her throat, lifting her gaze back to his face. ]

I know what you're doing.

[damon has the shirt completely slipped off as he looks over at her. his shirt has dropped down to the side of the hot tub as he climbs over the side of it, looking at her curiously when she clears her throat like that. there's a knowing look in his gaze. he likes when he can affect her like that (god knows she has that efect over all the time whether she's aware of it or not).

he smirks lightly, shaking his head as if he has no idea what she's talking about.]

What am I doing? I'm curious.

[he asks sinking down on to the hot tub beside her with an innocent smile on his face as he leans up close to her. the innocence of that smile might be questionable given this is damon. coughs.]

[interpersonal]

[ ... okay, this hot tub does feel nice. the water laps gently against their chests, warm and soothing. elena's fingertips grasp damon's chin before he can lean too close, ignoring the way her pulse spikes in response. she can hold her own with damon just fine. ]

You've decided to cheer me up by distracting me from the fact Bonnie isn't coming.

[ while also just being plain distracting. ]

[damon smirks at her when she grasps his chin, but he stops exactly where she holds him. his gaze drifts over her face.]

You say that like it's such a horrible thing... as if I was doing something truly mischievous.

[he splashes her a bit with the bubbling water]

[ a scoff, followed by elena releasing his chin to splash him right back.

and more generously, at that. ]

A little.

[ the allowance comes with the tiniest of smiles, tempered by the sincerity of her gratitude. despite how often she's wanted to wring his neck, and how much has happened ... ] Thank you. I really don't know what I'd do without you here.

[damon lets out a noise when she splashes him back, smirking at her as he leans back against the hot tub wall.]

I'll take a little.

[the smirk tugs into a smile if only because he can sense the sincerity of her gratitude, and then her words. he looks over at her, expression quiet. an intense, wonderful, beautiful warmth fills his chest even as he shakes his head a little, uncertain of what to say. how to respond. his gaze razes over her, and he releases the breath trapped in his chest.

it's hard for him to say you're welcome, to act like he's deserving of her thanks when- well. let's just all look back on his reactions after the harry potter event and after she left, and it goes on, okay? but he hears the sincerity of her words, and he wants them despite himself]

You should know... I've been really miserable without you, Elena Gilbert.

[ it shouldn't fill her chest up like a balloon.

but need is a language she speaks, and need keeps them tethered to each other. elena holds his gaze, reading. searching. she must find what she is looking for, because her smile blooms into something bright and disarming. she wants to joke that it should teach him a lesson, where pushing her away is concerned, but the moment is too important.

and it won't be last time they're here. will it? ]
