Summary: Today is the 2 year anniversary of the coffee shop, it's time to celebrate in a not!typical way.
The Story:

There was something to be said for distraction sometimes being the best medicine. The past month had been interesting, but it was time to move forward and celebrate a milestone. The coffee shop had been around for 2 years and somehow was still standing after everything. It had gone through a facelift about 5 months ago and was about to go over another baby one to make room for the celebration. The look of the shop hadn't changed, but there was suddenly a locked door to room 16 as of 10/11 that hadn't been there before considering the shop had previously spanned 2 rooms. Posters were placed all over the mansion as well as a digital invitation in the evening of 10/11, announcing the celebration.

As of the 13th, the coffee shop is decked out with streamers, balloons, and confetti to celebrate the 2 year anniversary as well as some festive luau-style drink options to tie into the plans for the evening. The menu features a lot of frozen and chilled options that pair nicely with the party later. As people start to arrive, there are two dressing rooms available with closets for anyone who needs to change as well as a plethora of towels. Drinks are available both in the coffee shop and at the bar in the cinema room, alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions. There's also a wide assortment of food and goodies that come with a little warning about moderation on all fronts while in the tubs. Once everyone's settled in and the movie starts, there'll be a little bottle delivered to each hot tub for the group to decide whether or not they'd like to add some bubbles to their party. First movie of the evening will be a little more family friendly with The Goonies, the second film, Labyrinth, going a little further on the risqué spectrum. Various pool-type toys are available, including beach balls to casually toss at other people or the screen.

[ This was big. Probably one of the biggest things she'd done in awhile, at least in terms of happy occasions... Or occasions she could make happy. Milestones were easier to celebrate for places rather than herself. So, why not throw a party in honor of the coffee shopping hitting the big #2. A few days beforehand, she can be found wandering around the mansion with loads of posters and tape - hanging them up to make sure no one would miss the invite. It had been tempting to do the same type of announcement she'd done when it first opened, putting a candy bar in front of every door with her logo on the label... But that was so much work to do on her own.

There wasn't much to be done in the actual shifting of the rooms and setting up the tubs, everything kind of doing its own autopilot thing except for the little touches she can add here and there that the magic of Wonderland might've missed the day of the party. Like the inflatable floating drink caddies for each tub and a bucket of leis at the door.

She hadn't been back down to the lab for most of the month, happy to say that this whole thing had been the reason rather than sheer avoidance. It worked and it was better than her holing up in a room and pretending no one else existed. This was way more fun. Anyone who pops into the coffee shop might catch her counting popsicle sticks or making a lot of trips from the closet to the neighboring room with armfuls of supplies because of course Wonderland didn't understand the meaning of a fully stocked bar when she asked for it or understand the joy of the small pre-inflated floaty thingys. Of course. Don't mind her just taking up a corner of the shop with a bicycle pump and the caddies. #oldschool ]

[ Most of the time, she can be found behind the bar - dressed simply to cover up the swimsuit she'd decided on... just in case someone's smooth enough to actually talk her into hopping into one of the tubs for a little bit. It's all kind of self-serve anyways, of course, considering there weren't charges for anything.

When she's not behind the bar set-up or crashing someone's tub party, she'll be making the rounds to clean up empty drinks here and there and replenishing when asked. She understands the difficulty of leaving hot water when you're pruny and know it's gonna be cold. The heated towels definitely help, though. Darcy also won't be shy about quoting the movies and adding some color commentary as things truck along because both were great classics and totally in season. ]

[ Feel free to find her pretty much anywhere before and during the party... Or even doing clean up and IS THAT SOMEBODY'S THONG? Who left a thong in one of the hot tubs? Was that a joke? Omg. Don't mind her as she grabs some tongs from the closet. Tongs that will now be forever called thong tongs. ]

[Fitz came early to Darcy's event, mostly so that he could say he showed up to support her without feeling obligated to be around when the actual party is happening. He's intended to just lay out supplies at the bar, but while she was off doing other things he distracted himself instead. Darcy will return to a souped-up paper umbrella monolith, which lights up now, for some reason. He got distracted and added electronics to it, what.

Almost nothing else is done. He is the best bartending help.]

[ Is all she gets out when she returns, gesturing at the umbrellas with a pure look of confusion. If she'd spent money on this, she'd probably be annoyed... But she didn't so she's just going to marvel at the fact that he pulled that off in the amount of time she'd been gone. ]

So, that's new and surprisingly works with the theme. Okay. [ She's not saying no. Congrats. ]

[Damon has a bag of popcorn in hand as he strolls through the party in nothing but a swim suit. What is modesty? Elena has gone over to talk to Bonnie who actually decided to come (He's certain it was Elena's audio that brought her to the party after all), and he knows Bonnie probably still wants space from him. It's a fun party so he doesn't mind strolling through the hot tubs, basking in the energy.

He lifts an eyebrow, however, as he sees the young woman with the tongs on a mission, and oh.]

...looks like someone was having a really, really fun time at the hot tub party.

Yeah, I feel like someone's playing a prank on me. At least, I hope someone's playing a prank and I won't find more elsewhere. [ Because thong tongs weren't a thing she wanted to regularly use, ok. Granted, this was a one time deal since Billy had an awesome set-up already on the 4th floor. No reason for another one, even if competition for business wasn't really a thing around here due to a lack of money.

Her face scrunches up as she reaches for the thong again because grossing herself out and quickly pulling back. ] I don't get paid enough for this.

[ Billy remembers when the coffee shop opened, in fact it was probably the first time he and Darcy bonded over setting desserts on fire- he has a surprising amount of friends in wonderland that started from fires- so of course he was going to show up at the two year anniversary. Plus it was hard to say no to a Darcy party. He spots her when she's behind the bar and makes his way over, smiling when he reaches her. ]

Well I can't say I've ever been to a hot tub cinema but I can see the appeal. Good movie choice, by the way.

When Jesse had first gotten the invite to the coffee shop’s anniversary celebration, she hadn’t been sure she would go. But it hadn’t taken her long to decide, no, it was the best idea and she was definitely going to go. She needed to get out a little and she wasn’t sure the five days of thinking and believing she was a witch actually counted.

So she changes into a white swimsuit before sliding a simple dark red cover up on over it and making her way to the coffee shop. She’s brought a book, of course (one of her own, so in case it gets wet she’s not put out or in trouble), and she gets a drink from the bar and a snack or two before choosing a hot tub at random. After setting her book, drink, and snacks on the little table near her chosen tub, she’s tugging off the cover up and leaving it puddled on the ground beside the hot tub and slipping into the steaming water.

"You're looking comfortable," Iris says by way of greeting, warm smile in tow.

Iris regrets Jesse came to Wonderland during an event. It means Iris wasn't able to properly greet her, much less help her adjust to such a bizarre situation. Iris likes to think she can do that now; she'd want to. She has a very soft spot for Wells' daughter.

Resting her elbows on the edge of the hot tub, she leans forward conversationally. "Having fun?"

Cisco was mostly still trying to get his bearings in this place, but he saw the posters and he got the invitation and it seemed rude to turn down sucb a great idea for a party. Plus, movies are his jam, and he can't turn away from classics like this.

Donning a t-shirt and swim trunks, Cisco wanders idly around the room, searching out a familiar face. He grins broadly when he sees Jesse perched in one of the hot tubs already, waving as he made his way over to her. "Hey," he greets her casually, leaning on his arms against the edge of the tub.

Hot tub cinema? It might sound ridiculous, but a wacky distraction is exactly what she needs right now. That whole Hogwarts thing had been a welcome detour from the mess that has become her life, but now she's back to not sleeping very well and constantly looking over her shoulder. She's had enough of that. For one night, she wants to be the Old Beckett— The one who enjoyed being around people, who smiled and laughed and told jokes, who was a generally upbeat person.

No doom and gloom, no paranoia, no seeing visions of dead people.

Selecting an empty tub towards the back, Beckett unzips her hoodie and hops up onto the side to remove her shoes and leggings. Now clad in just her swimsuit, she sets the rest of her clothes in one of the nearby bins to keep them dry.

"As long as these don't turn out to be time machines," she remarks to the person in the neighboring hot tub as she slides into the water, "we should be okay."

Jane laughs, and wiggles the bottle of bubbles in the air as an offering -- she's a scientist, not a salesman. This encompasses the extent of her pitch's sum total. But Beckett's comment at least gives her an enjoyable in:

"Well, if they do," she answers, smirking. "Would bubbles make the experience more, or less okay?"

[ whether perusing food, or trying to choose a hot tub, bonnie bennett looks a little like she's constantly checking over her shoulder to make sure she's not being snuck up on. and when approached, she does actually jump a little, despite her seeming vigilance. maybe she's just looking for someone specific...

she hangs around the food for a little bit, trying to decide whether or not an alcoholic beverage and probably blocking things that other non-spacey residents might want to get to. when she hears a greeting, she assumes she's just in the way and scoots to the left. ]

[it was elena's text which convinced peter to go to the party since parties aren't really peter parker's thing. obviously, the last time there were parties at wonderland, a lot of deaths happened too, but this one's not run by wonderland. he's hoping for a better track record this time around. he's got swimming trunks on along with a nerdy shirt on. he's been here awhile, spent some time hanging out with elena, and they laughed over the stache cupcakes and hwo he once shoved a bunch in his mouth cause he was so awkward around bonnie (it's a bittersweet remembering given stuff), and he's finally gathered the courage to remove the shirt.

and maybe hop into a hot tub.

obviously, this is the best moment for bonnie to catch sight of him... so he can give chase shirtless, coughs.]

[ the first real blowout they ever had was mid slumber party. caroline called sheriff forbes, demanding to be picked up before they could even play dress-up. bonnie stayed in the gilbert home, regardless of how furious she was, huddled with miss cuddles in a corner while elena clutched a stuffed unicorn across from her. they didn't talk for five hours, and trust they were the longest five hours in elena's bitty life. even jer was beside himself.

she can't recall now what the fight was about, though she doesn't doubt caroline remembers down to the last minute detail. they never talked about it, bonnie and elena. they never had to. miranda dropped them off at school, and their fingers laced together before they reached first period. that was then. ]

I recommend the churro bites. [ you came, is what elena means. ]

[ little known fact about elena gilbert: she used to be a party-loving queen bee.

wonderland has yet to be introduced to her; they met the subdued version, the one who smiles whether she feels like it or not. determination, compassion, encouragement: these are all things that she embodies easily. fun for the sake of having fun? she's rusty on that. if a certain raven-haired vampire hadn't decided to drag her butt along, elena would've spent the night curled up with a book and her cat. shut up, her cat is the best cat. ... okay, she admits it's a little sad.

and that's why she's here! and she's trying!

elena moseys on up to the party, grabs a drink with a cute lil umbrella, and decides to do some lite mingling. a diet mingle, if you will. she spends some time perusing the food before heading to a hot tub. the same hot tub your character is making a beeline for. ] It's okay. You go ahead. I'm still waiting on someone.

[damon can hardly believe it. he showed up at her room, and elena agreed to go with him even if it was just to stop him from blowing up bonnie's inbox. it's still something instead of the awkward space which he'd inflicted himself. she's so mopey though even if he knows she's actually trying her best here. it starts to tug at his limited heartstrings. he has his arm wound around her own as he tugs her over towards the bar. he lifts an eyebrow at her with a tiny smile, trying to be enticing here.]

[peter would not ordinarily be caught at a party, because he's always been a loner. however, at wonderland, it's not quite true. he's made friends like... actual friends. one of them, elena gilbert, sent him a text asking him to go too so he's here. cause he's mostly been holing himself up in his room or crawling around at night (literally crawling, it's a spider-man thing).

he wears a nerdy t-shirt along with swimming trunks for most of the night, which naturally defeats the purpose of a hot tub party if he doesn't get into it. he is still not great at parties. he's trying to throw popcorn into his mouth while he walks, and he's remarkably good at it (cause y'know spidey senses so it's kind of cheating).

did you just about trip over some of the water on the floor? cause he's also remarkably fast and good at catching people who might otherwise split their heads open. or y'know just get bruised but he's trying to be more hyper vigilant about potential danger.]

[ Robyn does, in fact, almost slip up on the slick floor of the coffee shop, but the quick-to-action superhero manages to get a hand around her arm before she crashes. ]

Well, that was only... mildly embarrassing. [ She laughs, long hair elaborately braided to keep it out of her face... and out of the water. Strangely, though, perhaps, she's dressed comfortably, casually, and not in a bathing suit at all. ] Thank you.

Mettaton cannot resist the siren call of a party, so he is here and ready to live it up! Human alcohol won't knock him off his feet like his more organic compatriots, but he'll drink it anyway because he's all about the Aesthetic. Speaking of aesthetic, he's definitely sporting black and gold swimming briefs along with some slick black sunglasses. For all intents and purposes, he looks ready to relax the night away in one of the many hot tubs available.

...Except he's not getting into any of them. In fact, he's mostly avoiding them, either sitting at the bar, lounging off to the side of one the tubs in some chair he happened to have on hand, or messing around with some of the pool toys. Is it safe for a robot to be surrounded by water? Should Mettaton even be here at all?

Probably not! But that's not gonna stop him, and it certainly won't stop him from talking to you.

[Zacharie's not that hard to spot up at the bar. The only thing he's really done to get ready for this is roll up the legs of his pants and ditched his sneakers for a pair of flipflops he got..somewhere. Probably something he traded for something else at one point. And of course, the cat mask.

But he's up at the bar because A) it had non-alcoholic drinks and B) said drinks had sugar in them. The merchant waves when he spots Mettaton and meanders over to join the robot.]

Good evening dear Mettaton. How are we doing in this watery party?

[Mettaton's not the only one who is attracted to weird parties and booze. Dorian strolls up to the bar, looking to see if they have absinthe or wine, taking in all the watery excitement. He's certainly never been to a watching-motion-pictures-with-sound-in-a-hot-tub party, but this one experience he was eager to have.]

[And don't laugh at his swimsuit. These were all the rage in the 1800's.]

[ Some time ago, Steve had made a promise to be a part of this event. As Darcy had pointed out in the course of that conversation, he's one of the few people among her group of friends who was actually present when the coffee shop first opened. It wouldn't be right for him to miss out on it, especially when he knows that Darcy wants him to be there. So he shows up, it's just...

This isn't really what he'd been expecting.

Sure, he's seen the parties that Darcy has thrown in the past, but none of them involved jumping into hot tubs with other people, some who might be strangers. It's not like Steve has anything to be embarrassed about (quite the contrary), but this is still something far outside of his comfort zone. It has less to do with being shirtless and more to do with being in close quarters with people he doesn't know for a long period of time and therefore being forced to make small talk.

It probably isn't nearly as big of a deal as he's making it out to be, but instead of slipping into swim wear, Steve heads over for the impressively-stocked snack tables to see what Darcy's put together this time. He never has to worry about there not being enough food, that's for sure. ]

[ elena wouldn't say this is out of her comfort zone. at least, not the way it is for steve. but she can't say she's in a partying mood, either. she can't even say she's a partying kind of person anymore, really. a lot of things changed after that night on wickery bridge. that said, she likes steve, and she knows he won't expect her to dance and drink the night away. it's with a light, teasing smile that she approaches him. and ok, maybe she grabs another churro bite. ]

[Mettaton is also a fish out of water so to speak, if fish were mechanical and powered by electricity. So he's hitting up one of the few places at this party he can safely be at without risking some kind of short circuit: the snack table. It's when he happens to glance to the side of himself and down the table that he catches sight of a familiar face on a not familiar body.]

Steve!? Steve Rogers, is that you?

[Holy shit. The last time he saw him was during Genosha, and that was over a month or so ago. He'd been convinced that Steve had been a product of Wonderland, so to see him here was certainly a surprise. The biggest surprise, however, was the increase in height and the broadness of those shoulders. Also those arms. And those abs.

Steve has made a complete one 180 from cute to hot and Mettaton is not sure how to handle this.]

[She's not a huge fan of the crazy party scene, but she feels a little guilty that she never makes appearances at this sort of thing. So she's hanging by the snack table, picking at some food, when she spots Steve appear, and squints. His face looks familiar, but the stature doesn't. It's hard to grab on a couple different sets of memories, like dreams kicking around her head, but the name stays true.]

Rogers? You're bigger than I remember you.

[It's said with her trademark smirk, because now she feels a little bit like an idiot for being so worried about him in Genosha. Especially because he looks much, much more muscular than her all of a sudden.]
