bonnie bennett / FIREWORKS | ota
a few minutes after the figurative ball drops, attendees might hear a familiar boom and crackle outside over the beach. that same colorful girl who'd graced the party with snowflakes and dancing lights stands out at the sand, whispering and moving her arms from side to side to create colorful explosions in the sky. the show is big enough to view from the mansion, but the brave souls willing to follow her out into the cold will find a worn path to step, and a short show to enjoy before retreating back to the new year inside.
the remnants of holiday imagery bloom to life and fade in crackles -- snowmen and snowflakes light up in blues and yellows. ribbons and wreaths dot the sky in red and green. a fox dances in circles, and a great purple raven swoops down in a rush before dissipating into crackling stars. a menorah lights its candles one by one before dissipating with a loud crackle and giving way to a unity knot that spins and explodes to reveal the simplest of messages: happy new year, wonderland~ ]
fireworks XD
He slides up next to her, a grin on his face and adds to her display. Even more snowflakes join her own, a shimmering blue and silver, dreidels and stars burst into colorful likes. A puppy chases the fox through the night sky and a dragon hovers above them bursts of red and yellow "flames" raining down from its mouth. ]
omg it is on like donkey kong
Psh, a puppy? C'mon, don't you-- [ and then that dragon shows up and bonnie puts her game face on. ] That's it, Kaplan.
[ she starts back in, sending the crow down toward said puppy to shower it in deep purple feathers. a princess appears before the dragon, swinging her sword as the fringes of her pink dress singe away. ]
no subject
[ Billy lets out a laugh when the princess appears and he waves his hands causing the dragon to roar more flames. ] A duel to the death then?
no subject
[ she laughs too, happy to pick on herself while her princess cowers under the flame, dancing around to escape it and brushing the embers from her dress -- which totally makes it easier to fight and charge the dragon with her shield up. ]
You're gonna have to teach me how to make that fire look so real-- oh my god Billy is it actually real?
no subject
[ As he speaks small cartoon bunnies pop up around the princess hopping around her innocently. ]
of course it's not real fire. I don't want to be known as the guy who accidentally burned down the mansion with a fake dragon.
no subject
[ sass sass sass ]
Awww!
[ oh no hopefully those aren't monty python bunnies because the princess (and bonnie) are sufficiently distracted by this cute... ]
no subject
[ Of course they are Monty Python bunnies, which Bonnie will realize as they start to jump at the Princesses dress with their big pointy teeth. ]
no subject
[ the princess is having a hard time managing all of these creatures trying to get up on her, but bonnie takes a page out of their gaming history class and a red mushroom appears beside her.
oh yeah. she eats that sucker and grows and starts ... kicking bunnies. dear lord bonnie think of the children! ]

the last time there was one big party like this- the last time he found faith and then everything between bonnie and him fell apart too leading to some of his loneliest, hardest months in wonderland thus far. this night will be different. it has to be different.
he can't find bonnie at first when she disappears, but then people talk about fireworks, cheer about fireworks, and he heads out to follow the sounds, the sights. he knows who's creating it, and he follows the firework display until he reaches her on the beach.]
Hey. [a lopsided smile tugs across his face as he finds her on the beach, something fond in his voice] You snuck off on me.
no subject
[ bonnie makes her oopsiest oops face and turns to greet peter with another kiss. it's better out here under the static stars, less obligatory than the midnight one. ]
Did you see the glittery spiderwebs I made? I tried to make them red, but it always comes out magenta.
no subject
I saw. I loved them. I know we're outside, and it's cold, but... I thought maybe we could dance again. One last time.
[on the beach in the night after the fireworks, it's romantic, right? his thumbs slide over the jacket, tugging her in against him by it]
no subject
I'd like that a lot. I'm not cold at all.
[ at his waist, poking out from the coat, bonnie wraps her arms around his back and settles her head into his chest. if there's any reason to wear heels, it's nice to feel his collarbone against her cheek. ]
Did you have a good time tonight?
no subject
for now it's a nifty trick to music to their dance out on the beach among the sand. he winds his arms around her too, tugging her in tightly against his chest. he slips his fingertips up against her back, gripping hold of her by his jacket]
I had an amazing time tonight.
We all have had restful slept so we could actually enjoy the holiday without wanting to fall asleep standing up. [he smiles against the top of her head.] What about you?
no subject
It was good. I think I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, though.
[ her reply is less vibrant and exuberant than she wants, but-- well, she feels that impending sense of learned wariness when it comes to parties in wonderland, too. ]
no subject
Makes sense. This- this place has a habit of the other shoe dropping especially when you least expect it.
[after all, the last fancy party they enjoyed together-- well, the night is not too far from his mind in terms of how it all ended, but there seems to be no violence, no- no death, no ending.]
Maybe we can really have this one though. This one night.
no subject
[ since the last time could've been better if bonnie had just chosen better choices. she shivers at the touch of peter's fingertips and hum happily, cuddling more into him. ]
I mean, it helps that people threw this one. It feels less like we're tempting fate.

You know, the party ending late doesn't excuse you tomorrow morning.
[ She's kidding, not even Michonne is that much of a ball buster, but it's still fun to tease. ]

no subject
[ Ah, well. It was fun to pretend for five seconds that she's a hardass. ]
Having fun?
no subject
I'm not really the fancy type but I think sleeping for two days straight made me a little cabin crazy, you know? Plus, for a drill sergeant, you throw a really nice party.
no subject
[ She flashes a teasing grin, then shakes her head a little. ]
This was mostly Evie. I just asked, basically. But I'm glad you like it, and I hear you - that whole event was...well. It was something. Don't know what the right word is yet.
no subject
[ bonnie trails off because she'd much rather just wave away events as past unless she feels they serve her. teenage idealism or perceived invincibility or just some sense of survivalistic deniability? whatever it is, she pushes against having to consider it at all. ]
I think Wonderland's actual reality shifts are just meant to distract us.
no subject
[ That's just the first question popping up in Michonne's head, but she shakes it off. ]
You know what? For tonight, doesn't matter. We can think about it tomorrow. Tonight's for buffet tables, booze, and dancing.
no subject
Count me in. And maybe you can tell me how you managed to wrangle all of those dancing partners...
