- [ Despite her appearance with Richie at the New Years Eve Ball, Kate's presence in the Mansion is not easily noticed as January rolls around. She keeps to her room on the tenth floor, getting out only when the walls feel like their closing in on her. If encountered during the day, you can be fairly certain that Kate will be alone but as the sun goes down, there's every chance you'll find any conversation you might have with her, interrupted by a tall man with glasses who if you think is sizing you up, undoubtedly is. ]
ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴇʟ
- [ The house of God had once been a place where Kate felt welcomed with open arms, a sanctuary that wrapped her in peace and warmth in a way that even her home could not. It was one of the few places where she had the certainty of belonging that so few ever found in life and she'd thought it would always be that for her, no matter where her life took her. Now? She wasn't so sure.
It had been many months since Kate had stepped foot in a Chapel and though Richie had shown her the one here in Wonderland as a way of putting her at ease, she already wondered if it existed to torment her more than comfort her. Kate had never wavered in her beliefs, despite all she'd seen and experienced this last year. She'd held firm to the knowledge that God loved her because as far as she was concerned, God was love but having time to stop and think about every choice she'd made, Kate could feel the weight of every one of those decisions whenever she stepped foot inside the chapel.
While she doesn't spend hours on end here, Kate can still be found in the Chapel at various times throughout the day, usually when there doesn't appear to be anyone else around. Always tucked into one of the pews at the back, as if she weren't sure she should really be here at all. ]
ᴛʜᴇ ᴋɪᴛᴄʜᴇɴ
- [ While some people took to the magic of Wonderland; the ease and comfort it afforded those who lived here, Kate found it difficult to trust anything that could be achieved without effort. She'd tried eating in the dining room where most people took their meals but these attempts usually ended with her being more hungry than satisfied and she always ended up retreating to the kitchen where she could fix her own meal.
She was hardly what you'd call a gourmet cook, but Kate had always helped her mother in the kitchen and she'd in many ways taken on the role of caretaker in the time since her mother's death. It wasn't like her father had been in a state to do so and Scott? It was a miracle if Kate could get him to set the table.
Used to cooking for two or more, Kate will be prone to making too much and never one to see food go to waste, anyone who happens into the kitchen while she's here will be offered some of whatever she's making. Those who happen to frequent the kitchen might even realize that she's the one responsible for the plates of food that have handwritten notes beneath them, inviting anyone to take it for themselves. ]

- [ When you spend your whole life in the small town of Bethel, Texas, a place that despite the bitter cold that came during Winter, had never seen an inch of snow in the time Kate had lived there, the Winter Wonderland that existed beyond the Mansion walls had its own kind of appeal.
Some days, Kate would be content to sit by a window, a cup of hot chocolate warming her hands as she watched the flurries of snow, dance through the air. On days when the weather was mild enough to dare venture out, however, Kate would don multiple layers of clothing and would brave the biting cold just to experience what for her, was more magical than anything she'd seen inside the mansion.]

- [ Set something up yourself! Kate will explore the various parts of the Mansion so it won't be inconceivable that you'd come across her almost anywhere. She will also be curious about the mirror side of Wonderland so Mirrors! are more than welcome to tag her as well. Alternatively, if you want to hash an idea out with me, you're welcome to PM her journal or hit me up on plurk:

His eyes languidly open, catching a glimpse of the side of her face out of the corner of his eye as she her lips travel down the path she's set.]
I'm not complaining.
[He shifts slightly as he tries to turn slowly towards her, which would effectively start to push her spine into the back of the couch. His leg bends slightly between hers in a never-ending attempt to find further comfort in her closeness, as if doing so will physically solidify the connection he's felt strengthen between them over the course of the evening.]
no subject
It's hard to ignore that tremor of panic as things physically intensify but she longs for the closeness, her leg draping over his, want able to shout down any uncertainty for now.]
Richie... [Far from the protest he'd heard in the snow, Kate's arm moves around his body, the desperate need coming off of her in waves as a soft groan vibrates against his skin.]
no subject
Her voice vibrates across his ear, an almost desperate noise, speeding up the beating of his heart in his chest. Heat blooms in his abdomen, races through his veins, and he feels himself shudder softly in her arms, as her legs drapes further over his. In answer, his hand runs over her hip and down the outer curve of her thigh, pulling on it gently so he can hook her leg completely over him.
That task done, his hand lifts back up, following the edge of her body back up to her face where his fingers thread into her head, the tips of them running over her scalp, thumb resting against her cheekbone.]
Don't leave.
[The word comes out almost as a whisper, because while she isn't protesting, he seems almost afraid that it won't matter, that she'll fade away if he doesn't hang on tight enough.
Everything else in his life has seemed to at one time or another. Even her.]
no subject
His words echo her own from before, the ache that sits in her chest intensified by their shared loss and Kate's leg hugs his body tighter, the press of her heel a steady reminder that she is here and this is real.]
I won't. [Her lips press against his skin below his ear, hot breath warming them in the cage of limbs they've created]
I promise. [And she knows this place could make a liar out of her someday, but even if she can only guarantee today, she has no intention of breaking it.] I promise.
no subject
So to hear her promise now, even if he knows she may not be able to keep it, he knows that she'll do it so long as it's within her power, and that's enough.
He might never realize it or admit it to himself, but he's terrible at functioning alone. Given enough time, he would steer off that path and cross forbidden lines and become someone he didn't want to be. With Uncle Eddie gone and Seth not here, the only person that might have a chance of keeping him in line was Kate.
Perhaps he knows that unconsciously.
He sighs into her collarbone, his hold on her calming but not letting go as he pulls his head away from her skin to meet her eyes again. Richie searches them for a moment, taking in the details of her face, the sparks of color in her eyes, before it draws him in like a magnet, his mouth pressing gently against hers.]
no subject
Light trickles through the darkness created by their press of bodies, Kate watching him, as he drinks her in and her eyes flutter closed before he even moves to kiss her, head tilting as if to welcome him.
Her body arches, a gentle pressure against his as if eager to maintain the closeness between them and Kate kisses him back, soft and sweet, pulling back only barely to drink in his features.
Her fingers press into the contoured lines of his back, Kate's chest swelling with the emotion that starts to pool there and a smile, so slight it barely requires notice, graces her lips before she leans in to kiss him again.
The tender press carries with it a certainty that she feels and she sinks into it now, her lips parting against his as emotion spills over in a soft, whimpered moan that's smothered by his mouth.]
no subject
He doesn't sense any doubt in the touch of her mouth, nor does he feel anything heavy or foreboding in his chest as she leans into him, and his head tilts to the side to deepen the kiss, exchanging breath with her as she makes a soft sound against his lips. The grip of his fingers in her hair tighten in response to her, each new gesture or touch a simple attempt at discovering what it is she wants from him.
Usually, he's the one being led when it came to this kind of thing. He's not used to taking the lead, though he's certainly willing to try.
First order of business, however, is for him to take the hand not busy in her hair and lift it to his face so he can pull his glasses off sideways before he ends up hitting her in the face with them, and he casually tosses them aside on the floor before his hand settles on her hip, fingers splayed across her jeans.]
no subject
For him to try and figure out what she wants, would border on impossible. Kate doesn't know anything beyond each second that she spends wrapped up in him, living completely in the here and now as his touch serves to both excite and reassure her.
The hand that's trapped between her body and the back of the couch, squirms its way up his chest, her fingers pressing into him through the thin material of his shirt.
She's heard people talk about getting butterflies and had always thought it was just something you say, a girlish flourish to describe the contentment felt when in the company of somebody you liked.
The swarm that takes flight as he deepens the kiss makes all those stories make sense, the pressure of her mouth increasing as her tongue tentatively teases at his lower lip.]
no subject
He's certainly not in any hurry.
His chest presses towards her fingers as they try to grasp at him. His tongue reaches out to brush against hers, and the moment hers withdraws any amount of space, he's grasping at her lower lip in return with a teasing drag of his teeth.
His blunt ones, of course.]
no subject
His teeth capture her lip and she drags in a ragged breath, Kate's body arching into his as he pulls a shuddering groan from deep inside of her. With half-lidded eyes, she catches sight of that desire, Kate gently pulling her lip free and allowing herself another moment to drink him in.
It's the first time she can recall seeing him without glasses, at least the real version of him and her eyes dart from side to side, taking in the difference. The nervous energy sits at a low hum that vibrates beneath her skin, Kate's heart thumping fast yet steady in her chest as she traces the arch of his brow, the slope of his nose, the line and curve of his mouth.
Hazel eyes flick up towards his once more, her fingers pressing harder against his chest and he'd see the longing there, the attraction she feels shining back at him before her mouth is covering his again.]
no subject
He's said before that she looks at him in a way that other people don't, and that's exemplified here. This is that thing he wanted from Santanico that he could never seem to get, the piece that was missing. He wasn't useful to Kate, he wasn't convenient. If anything, sometimes he could be anything but, and yet she still wanted him here. Even needed him, maybe.
And then her fingers are pressing into his chest, hard enough that he can even feel her nails, and as she leans in he pretty much takes that as a...green light.
A low sound rumbles in the back of his throat as his hands grow more daring, the one above her moving to her waist, his hand slipping under the fabric of her shirt to lay against her skin.]
no subject
He helped to fill the holes that had been left inside of her, all the spaces that used to be occupied by other people. The pieces of her that turned to ash and dust when she lost her parents, that were sliced away as Scott and Seth turned away from her. He pulled her close, he clung to her, he seemed to want and need her in a way that nobody else had and while she didn't thin she'd ever feel whole again, being with him made her feel like she could actually feel something again, something good at least.
There's a hunger in the kiss now, an almost desperate, aching need behind the press of their lips and she grows more confident in her own way, no longer hesitating as her tongue moves forward to dance with his.
He'd feel her heart skip and set to racing as his fingers brush against her skin, the crackle of nervous energy threatening to intensify as he teases at wanting more. There's comfort in his touch, though, the intoxicating feel of skin against skin and rather than pull away, she falls into the high of this sensory assault, a low moan vibrating against his lips.]
no subject
Kate.
[His lips break away briefly so that he can whisper her name again, his eyes barely opening a crack so that he can look at her, before his head dips down to bury against her neck, his breath hot against her skin as he presses dragging kisses along the length of her neck.]
no subject
The voice that would normally pull her back from the edge can barely be heard now, her hand moving up Richie's chest and over his shoulder when his mouth descends upon her neck.
The first brush of lips sends a shiver down her spine and Kate's mouth falls open, her head tilts, exposing the long line of her neck for Richie to explore, the sensual trace of his lips causing her to moan softly as her hand now moves to the back of his head, fingers raking over his scalp.]
no subject
It isn't even the blood in her veins that pulls at him. Her mouth is slightly open, exhaling quick breaths that he's somehow elicited in her. Her heart beats as fast as it does because she wants him. Her position and utter openness shows him how much she trusts him, even with this fragile place that he could easily rip open with little effort.
As his head dips back down to her neck, his fangs unfold from his gums, his eyes slitting behind hooded lids, and she'd barely feel much more than a prick and then warmth as they slip through the thin layer of skin she's laid bare for him.
The moment her blood hits his tongue, he's humming contentedly against her, fangs withdrawing from her skin so he can lap lazily at the wound, pull from it with his lips, the hands at her waist holding onto her in a protective and bordering on possessive way.]
no subject
It's why, when she feels the strike of his fangs, its surprise more than fear that makes her gasp, Kate's fingers and heel pressing hard into his body as blood starts to build beneath his bite. A soft whimper escapes as his fangs slip free but it builds into something more the second he seals his mouth to the wound.
Strong hands covet her body, his own completely dwarfing hers and while she is for all intent and purpose, completely at his mercy, he has a way of making her feel worshiped rather than like his plaything. Her own teeth sink into her lower lip, Kate trying to stifle the low sound of pleasure that purrs in the back of her throat and the hand on the back of his head, pushes through his thick hair as her body sings with the pleasure of what he was doing.
Her hips rock forward, Kate feeling the press of him between her legs as she practically straddles one if his, determined it seems to be closer still; as if even the smallest space between them would see her blow away.]
no subject
Richie can distantly hear the sound of her voice vibrating happily in his ear, and so he allows himself a bit more time here than usual, not taking more from her but savoring it in a way he didn't allow himself to previously.
Finally, though, he pulls his head away, tongue licking at his lips to catch any remaining crimson stains left behind before he turns her face back toward him with one of his hands, catching her lips with his mouth again, no doubt letting her taste the last sharp, metallic traces left on his tongue.
The kiss is intense but slow, burning towards some unknown destination. All he knows is that he doesn't want to stop.]
no subject
Knowing he needed blood to survive was one thing. Letting him take that blood from her, yet another but tasting her own blood on his lips as he kisses her is jarring in a way that she can't anticipate.
Her reaction is one that she knows in the back of her mind, might cause him some measure of pain, but also not one she can entirely control, especially under the circumstances.]
Sorry - [She makes no move to disengage, still wanting what closeness she can hold onto but they're venturing into all new territory now, not just for her and Richie, but for Kate and anyone.] The blood, it...
[
Just wtf you two why]no subject
The only thing that keeps him for spiraling down into something negative is that, even if she's pulled her face away, she isn't pushing him as well, stilling tangled up with his body.
For a moment all he can focus on is the color in her cheeks and his chest rises and falls, pressing against hers. Her words finally sink in, and he reaches up to his mouth to wipe the pads of his fingers across his lips, looking almost alarmed.]
Shit. Really?
[For once, he doesn't take it as a rejection of him. It's not like he doesn't remember being human, and he sure as fuck didn't enjoy the taste of blood, then.]
You sure that's it? You're okay?
no subject
I'm - [She goes to say fine, a habitual response that formed following her mother's death, but after the last little while, while she's looking into his eyes?
Her body relaxes, the hand that had held him to her, drawing towards his cheek.]
I'm good, I swear. [Her lips twitch, a smile finally settling on her lips as she drags her fingertips over his cheek, Kate leaning in to gently nuzzle her face to his as she whispers.] A little... Great, even.
no subject
[He feels a flood of relief that tingles through him, and he exhales a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.
He looks down briefly then back up, their eyes so close as she leans into him that their eyelashes nearly touch. His hand comes up to her neck, running his finger around the wound he's made, his eyes pinching at the corners despite the gentle smirk on his face.]
Guess I got a little carried away. [The words are teasing, a glint in his eye as he speaks.] Like I said, it can be. It doesn't have to be, but you didn't seem to mind.
no subject
Yes, really. [Kate leaning into him rather than simply against him, as if there would never be enough body contact between them.]
No... it was... [She can feel her cheeks color at the memory of it, feel her body ache in places no boy or man had ever touched.] It was, definitely that.
[He could have started pulling off her clothes and she doubted she would have stopped him, she probably would have turned her back on a lifetime of beliefs without so much as batting an eyelid.]
And I definitely - Did not - stop you. [Which was Kate for, yes she very much enjoyed that too.]
no subject
[Again, he's teasing, because, in reality, she wouldn't have asked if she hadn't been curious in the first place, but he sure wouldn't have gone that far without, well, all the other stuff that came before it.
He watches as her cheek rosy again, his eyes focused and watching her intently, as if doing so would magically let him inside her head.]
Well, you did, just not because of that. [Just saying.] We also could pick up where we left off. [He smirks.] Unless you're bored or, you know, tired.
no subject
Are those the only two options? [She might have teased him, joked about actually being bored but the reality is, she didn't want him to even think that was remotely possible.
Picking up where they left off, however? That opened a door Kate wasn't sure she was in any way ready to go through and her teeth run over her lower lip as she works up the courage for honesty.]
We could do that. [There's a hint of hesitation there now, not a straight up rejection but something more going on behind her eyes as she builds up to what needs to be said.] If you're sure it won't be too... frustrating.
no subject
[It's banter that's deliberately playful instead of littered with traces of negativity, his eyes brighter than normal as he pulls back to look at her properly again.
His eyebrows lift briefly in mild amusement at her attempt to talk about something without actually talking about it, and Richie is all too happy to be ridiculously blunt in return.]
I'm not going to bitch about blue balls, if that's what you mean. Do I look like that kind of guy to you?
