Maybe it’s luck, maybe it’s something more, but through the din of battle she catches the faint sound of his voice, calling her name. And it draws her to a halt as relief so intense it chokes her wells up in her chest. He’s all right. He’s all right. She turns toward the sound, towards the direction it came from, picking up the skirt of her dress and running once more.

“Francisco!” She has to get to him. She has to find him. “Francisco!”

As luck has it, he hears her as well and makes his way through the temple toward the sound. "Jessamine!" he calls for her again and when he turns a corner, it's like the breath is completely stolen from him as she's in his line of sight now.

Good. She'll be at his side and he won't worry because she'll always be safe with him. Just as she has always been.

It feels like a physical blow, when he comes around a corner and she can see for herself that he's all right, he's alive and Jessamine is so incredibly thankful. He means so much to her, and the thought of losing him is... devastating.

He's protected her, always protected her. Kept her safe. And he's by her side now and she can keep him safe, too. They're better together. "Oh thank god." And she races to him, throwing herself into his arms and holding him tightly.

He rushes to meet her and holds her close as she throws her arms around him. “I thought I’d lost you,” he mumbles into her hair, wanting nothing more than the revel in this moment that he’s found her, that she’s safe, but… there isn’t time. They have to go.

“We must go. I have to get you somewhere safe.” Because even in the sweetest of moments, he has to never forget his promise, his duty to protect her. And the middle of a battle isn’t safe. He releases his hold on her and tugs gently on her hand for her to follow him.

They’re together. They can face anything if they’re together. She’s afraid, of course she’s afraid her home is under attack, but it’s bearable, now. She leans into him, presses against him and exhales raggedly. “And I you.” It will haunt her dreams. She doesn’t want to let go of him, doesn’t want to break the embrace, but it’s not safe for them here.

“I go where you go,” she murmurs softly; she will not leave his side. He tugs on her hand and she follows him, tangling their fingers together and holding fast.

The battle continues among the as they move swiftly through the mess of people crowding the space. More than once, he has to fend off attackers, but he holds his own and manages deftly.

"It won't be much further now, my love." He promises.
