OTA ; Don't Stop, Make it Pop, DJ Blow My Speakers Up
Who: Lucifer Morningstar and OTA
Where: Deux Lux, Floor 6, Room 66
When: Anytime in March
Rating: TBD, probably PG-13 or so
Summary: Lucifer does what he does almost every other night - he has a party. Shenanigans and conversation ensue. This is essentially a catch-all for March for him. Let me know if you want something specific.
The Story:
[Once the drama of New Years dies down and he's drunk the entirely of his bar two or more times, Lucifer finally reopens his club to the public, seemingly no worse for the wear. He's chatted with a few specific people, reflected (marginally) on himself a bit, and has come to several conclusions.
All of which he'll be keeping to himself for the most part.
That said, he seems a bit brighter than even when he first arrived, as if there's a bit of weight off his shoulders, and he's almost less of a businessman and more of a guest in his own place as the nights continue on. He drinks along with everyone else, dances when he pleases, and plays the piano often, lending his singing voice more than occasionally.
Still, a few things weight on his mind that he'll need to take care of, but on the whole, he's quite chipper and easily approaching....or as approachable as the Devil can be.
That said, he's not seen a whole lot outside of his nightclub or his penthouse up the stairs, which means he might be a little more reclusive still than he first appears...]

it's why he collides with caroline on his way past the bar, a hand reaching out on reflex to catch and steady her by the elbow. his eyes slide to her face and he stills.
to say he's been conveniently never in her presence would be true. to say he's been intent on pursuing other trains of thoughts would also be true, not to mention an imperative necessity, complications of his love life aside. to say he's been completely successful in the latter—well, it wouldn't be fully true.
the shock can be easily read on his face; his caught breath in how his lips part to take a sudden one in. both of these things are incomparable to the awe present in his gaze and the way it softens his features. (he is still happy to see her.) after a moment, he swallows. ] Caroline, [ he greets, and drops his hand from her.
if elena's around
sorry elena he doesn't see you ]

Crashing into one of the sources of said things was not on the docket list.
She's not, at least, carrying a drink at this point, so when he collides into her and grabs her arm, her own reach out to catch his shoulders to steady herself as well, creating an even more intimate situation than he's already started.
She barely even noticed that he's been avoiding her, especially lately, because she's been doing the same. On her end, she'd simply thought she'd gotten lucky to prevent this exact sort of thing from happening, because the last time they spoke there was dancing and...things, and since then it's been a rollercoaster of finding out about Cami to having very awkward dreams.
Wonderland, you are the worst.
Her heart still in her chest for the briefest of moments as she recognizes his face, so close to hers, then quickly sets to racing as her hands drop the same time his does, and she forcibly takes a step back. She simultaneously wants to stare and look away at the same time.]
Klaus.
[His name sticks in her throat before she manages to get it out, practically stuttering over the first consonant as she does.
Kill her, Elena. Put her out of her misery. Please.]

elena's alcohol tolerance is far more pitiful than caroline's, but she's also had less to drink tonight, so she's in the tipsy zone only marginally veering toward drunk. caroline taking a step back means she bumps into elena, who almost chokes on the olive she'd been nursing from her drink.
klaus being rendered speechless in caroline's presence is like, so 2010. caroline's reaction, on the other hand, draws elena's attention. )
Good ... to see we all know each other's names?
( that was helpful, right? )
no subject
it tightens something in his chest, something buried and painful; something unearthed and exquisitely agonizing. if he didn't know any better...
but he does, and more to the point, his heart is too bruised to consider it deeply. still—
oh elena, are you there? klaus' attention finally moves towards the girl behind caroline. he exhales at her comment (not helpful, though not hurtful, by the way) and attempts the curling of a smile. ] Truly astounding, [ he agrees quite sardonically. then, not to leave her out: ] Elena.
no subject
Caroline's cheeks flush as she breathes out, trying to collect her frazzled nerves all while under the influence of far too much alcohol, and she's suddenly glad she has the fortitude she does more than ever. Except for the part where she can't really blame the blushing on the booze anymore.
She clears her throat, puts on a smile, and lifts her chin.]
How are you? I haven't, um, seen you in awhile.
[#nailedit]

w/e, elena can survive someone not making her the center of their universe for a change. maybe.
she's still intrigued by caroline's reactions. much like klaus, she finds caroline's responses unexpected. that said, years of friendship means these girls have perfected the art of wordless communication. elena waits to get some kind of signal from caroline: to stay or to go.
klaus does not get a say, sry. )
no subject
not that klaus would patently excuse nor deny how his continued astonishment is followed by abject awe at the blush complementing caroline's cheeks and her polite, none-so casual interest. his eyes do not linger on elena long, beckoned back by caroline's conversation, and there they stay. it takes a moment for him to consider the answer to her question and another to summon it. ] I suppose it's been some time, [ he answers, glancing down in his effort to dispel his inelegance. and then, of course, because this is totally an elegant follow-up, his eyes graze over her and he says, hopefully conversationally (but absolutely not), ] You look... [ ...
...
... #nailedit ]
no subject
...Thanks, I think.
[Oh geez, he's giving her that look. She knows that look. (She dreamed about it).
As the bartender slides the drink over to her, she picks it up, immediately taking a long sip out of it as she looks over at Elena with unsure eyes. Does she want her friend to stay or go? Even she's hovering between the two right now, because she's both uncomfortable with this situation in its entirety, but also having to do it in front of said best friend. Talking about it later is one thing, but this is just a mess.]
Were you...in a hurry?
[You didn't almost knock her over, after all.]
no subject
If you're here, then that means you and Lucifer ...
( they might be on better ground now?
elena's own relationship with klaus has only gotten more complicated the longer they remain in wonderland, lucifer and caroline two being two of several reasons. but it's hard to not feel something when the devil takes it upon himself to exact justice for you in a horrifically violent manner, especially when the person who wronged you doesn't really fight back.
her voice trails off before a thought can properly formulate, spine straightening like it's made of steel. she spots the object of her affections across the room, and damon attending lucifer's club is almost as strange as klaus doing so after new years. why is he here? and who exactly is he talking to? )
I'm gonna go be somewhere else now. ( her voice sounds distant and absent-minded, as she pushes away from the table she'd been leaning against to go inspect this from a closer vantage point. elena's always territorial af. it's just that alcohol makes it a little more apparent. )
no subject
perhaps he'd answer both their questions in a timely manner, if not for how fate works in his favor and elena's attentions are drawn elsewhere. amused and slightly incredulous, he turns back to caroline. ] Well it seems we're not interesting enough for her. [ a pause, a lingering look, and he adds, ] And no, I'm in no hurry. [ not anymore. ]
no subject
She blinks a few times, collecting the fragments of her brain which is fluttering in memories that belong in the gutter as she clears her throat and schools her face.
She's fine. She can do this. It's not a big deal. It's not like he can read her mind, right?]
Nothing is more interesting to Elena than Damon Salvatore, fighting or not. [Deflect. Deflect.] I've accepted this sad, sad fact.
[The liquid swirling in her glass is so interesting. Also tasty. Just gonna...shut herself up with another mouthful of it.]
no subject
[ he's joking.
not really. he's certainly teasing for a smile, if the look on his face is any indication. ]no subject
That's the saddest part about it, okay?
[She wanted to go on another tangent about how Elena deserved better, that she shouldn't pine over him when they clearly were having another rocky patch, but it was pretty obvious even with Caroline's judgment bias that Damon basically treated Elena like a goddess.
You know, until she was doing something he didn't want her to do, but that was a different can of worms.]
But I am not spending another second of my night talking about him, thank you very much.
no subject
klaus reaches behind the bar for a glass and a suitable scotch. he pours himself a few fingers. ] We certainly need not, [ he lets her know. he never particularly wants to talk about damon salvatore, or the epic love story of him and elena. long ago he once professed to wanting to talk about her. he believes this is just as fitting, here and now. ] What would you like to talk about?
no subject
Well, why don't you tell me about you? [Funny, that she'd go to that.] You apparently already know about me, right? That's not really fair, if you ask me.
[She takes a sip out of her drink.]
How's...life?
no subject
klaus begins to draw in a breath as he glances to the side. his resulting smile is rueful, considering the answer to her final question is far from simple and riddled with heartache. in other words, it's particularly effusive material for this moment, but neither would he intend to lie to her. ] In a word I assume you'll relate to, given the trials of our shared world: complicated. [ #naileditagain ] Less so perhaps, as I just made amends with the devil. [ #dramaticoneliners ]
no subject
Yeah, I know how that goes. Life isn't normal if it isn't also a mess.
[Kind of depressing, and yet comforting at the same time. Sometimes things were worse when nothing was happening, like waiting for the other shoe to drop.]
Oh. That's good, I think? I can't imagine it would be fun to be on someone like that's bad side. [Her smile grows a bit more mischievous.] Kind of like you, right?
no subject
and wow if he were another man he might blush. as it is he does glance down, unequivocally pleased with the implication. ] Us scary things often should come with a warning. [ like right now for instance, with his gaze lingering on hers. ] But I think Lucifer will be a loyal friend. [ he hopes, anyway, and his voice is sincere with that hope with and despite his uncertainties and reservations. ] Those are... [ rare ] all the more [ he pauses barely a beat, searching for a word with appropriate weight; meaningful weight ] valuable in messes. [ he nods to her; he means life, as she put it. ]
no subject
It doesn't help that Elena warned her about his feelings for a certain other woman.
Her teeth tug slightly on her bottom lip, because she knows exactly how scary he can be. In her own mind, at least. She's not exactly innocent, either.]
You seem to have a couple of those lying around, at least.
[Is she included in that number? Maybe. Probably.]
no subject
just as his friendship with lucifer is complicated and valuable, so is she and all things related to her in his heart. he is no fool in love, though he has often been proven wrong to the contrary. he may gaze at her with the world and his heart in his eyes, but he is nothing if not realistic. pragmatic. opportunist though he is, his life is complex. his heart is a riddled and dissected organ and though parts of it could easily, and as he has hoped, be one day hers, it would be foolish to consider the possibility now.
(he couldn't entrust his heart to camille either, though perhaps it was more she couldn't entrust hers to him.)
and that's without considering how far removed she is from what she's lived.
none of that is reflected in his expression, nor consciously in his thoughts, in this moment. he lifts his brow and asks with a hint of that flirtation in his smile, ] Messes? Or warning labels?
no subject
It may have lacked the danger or the supernatural element, but it was a mess nonetheless. If anything, she had her shit together more now than she ever did then.]
As much as both of those are true, that's not what I mean.
[She purses her lips and grins simultaneously, Klaus' own smile infectious in a way that was almost annoying.]
Friends. I meant friends.
no subject
no subject
Probably.
As much as she might try to pretend otherwise. She seems to try less and less every time they talk, however.]
Really? [Her head tilts curiously.] With what?

Is it one that would generally be afraid of things that howl at the moon?
[Her eyebrows lift because that is a totally reasonable question, okay.]
