Summary: Science + metahuman powers = ?????? ; AKA: Fitz and Cisco try to break a hole through Wonderland's barriers in their attempts to reach another dimension, but the experiment has gone sideways! Mirror Cisco is on the loose in the mansion and he's determined to wreck his Real's life in the most disastrous ways possible and will be trying to fool people when and where he can. WHO will discover this slippery switch?! How much chaos will M!Cisco leave behind?!

With every attempt before failing, despite his hopes, some part of Cisco had kind of assumed that there was no way in hell this was going to work. The portal would send him to the roof or he'd land in the lake, find himself standing in the kitchen. That's always what happened. No matter what his intended target space was, he ended up rerouted to somewhere else in Wonderland. But perhaps it worked this time because his destination was still technically a part of Wonderland. In his own secret side-mission in all of this, Cisco had been working toward getting to the Mirror Side to save Caitlin. His stomach clenches at the thought of her, of what she must have been put through here for months now.

"Somebody here?" He calls out cautiously, glancing around, uncertain of exactly what to expect.

What's here is... Not much, really. It's a lab. A drab, gray space that doesn't have much to it. But there is a figure within, standing tall and still in a well-tailored suit. Visibly, the situation is the same. He's in a lab, with a Fitz. He regards Cisco coldly, nodding once.

"Everyone's here who needs to be. I told you I'd make the transition easy for you, didn't I?"

He tilts his head and frowns a little at the, well, mirror image of his friend. Which is not what he'd expected. "You're-- the one I've been talking to? Why didn't you--" He stops himself and shakes his head, "Nevermind, it doesn't matter. Where's Caitlin?"

"Caitlin couldn't be here for this part."

His face doesn't even twitch with an emotion. His figure remains cold and distant, lacking the stammers and hesitation of his real thing.

"I'll bring you to her, but I need you to keep trusting me."

Fitz isn't good with people, but he's not like this and the icy vibe he gets from this one is unsettling to say the least. But he pushes that down for now, he's gotta get to Caitlin, that's the important part.

"Okay," he nods, "please just take me to her." He can't keep the emotion out of his voice.

"Of course."

He pulls a black collar from a countertop behind him and holds it out for Cisco to accept.

"Put this on. You'll need it to blend in."

Cisco opens his mouth to protest, but it dies somewhere in his throat because he'd just promised to trust him. Even if every alarm bell he has is going off.

"Okay..." He reaches cautiously for the collar, putting it on. He feels awkward and ridiculous and kind of like this might be a trap at this point, but... it's too late. And he has a best friend to save.

"Thank you."

He'll hook a leash on the end, though he's courteous enough to provide a generous lead. Not that the idiot real thing deserves it.

"When we're walking out there, stay behind me, never beside me. Keep your head down, and don't make eye contact with anyone. I'll let you know when it's safe."

Cisco isn't really sure what all of this is about, but-- well, he'll play along if it gets him to Caitlin. That's really all that matters right now.

Doesn't stop humiliation from sinking in as he follows him out of the lab. Even without looking at anyone else that may be passing by, he can feel eyes on him and it's the most unnerving thing.

He drags Cisco down the hall to where Caitlin's room ought to be. But as he opens the door, the leash suddenly tightens. He pulls hard on the lead, setting Cisco off-balance as he pushes the real thing into the space of the room.

"Delivered as promised, Snow. You want out? You train your replacement. Do it fast."

Cisco stumbles forward when the lead is yanked on and he's shoved further into the room. He stares at the lone figure in the room, and it's definitely-- "Caitlin? Wha- what does he mean, delivered, replacement for what?"

Caitlin stands alone in the room, but not for long. She looks startled as the door opens. Afraid when she spots Fitz. She drops to her knees and quickly lowers her eyes, almost flinching as if she expects to be struck.

"I-I didn't want this. Please."

Her voice is quivering as she speaks. It's a very believable performance. Award-winning, even. She's even got the marks to make it real. Her lip is split, and there's a smattering of bruises, old and fresh, around her throat, on her arms, on her cheek.

It was an amusing game to set this up. He's been looking for an excuse to properly beat Caitlin without worrying about repercussions for months now. Her little stage play has something for everyone.

"You wanted to go back, didn't you? I made it happen. Thank me for my generosity. And then do what you're told."

Everything about her appearance tells him he's waited too long to get here. He should have been here sooner, should have worked faster. It breaks his heart to see her to battered and bruised.

He pushes forward toward her and drops to his knees next to her. "I'm so sorry." He says, voice soft and tight with emotion as he cradles the back of her head in his hand and he tugs her close for a hug. "I'm sorry I didn't figure it out sooner, that I didn't get here faster."

She's willing to suffer some at Fitz's hands if it means a decent payoff. Messing with the mind of her real's best friend absolutely qualifies. Sure, she has to play at being that simpering, repressed, frigid woman, but any slips could be passed off as being used and abused by mirrors for months.

Caitlin's stiff, resistant, when he initially pulls her close. But after a moment, she melts into the embrace, her hands desperately clutching at his back.

"I'm sorry I couldn't warn you," she mumbles in a hushed voice.

She's well-aware that she's ignoring Fitz's orders. Consider her curious as to how far he's willing to go to sell this. It might even give her a little thrill.

Dr. Fitz's teeth grind together. Is she trying to test this? Does she think he won't treat her the right way while the game is afoot?? Perhaps she hopes he will.

He moves forward and grabs a fistful of Caitlin's hair, yanking her away from the hug.

"Has something damaged your hearing? What do we say when someone gives us a gift??"

He notices all the little things, the way she resists him, like she's worried of what's to come, but when she sinks into him he knows it'll be okay. One way or another, it'll be fine, they'll get out of here and--

The next thing Cisco knows, she's out of his grip and being jerked away from him. "Hey! What the hell?" His head snaps up to look at Fitz, incredulous. "Leave her alone. You're supposed to be helping me!"

Her disobedience gets the exact reaction she's expecting. She's pulled off-balance by the force of Dr. Fitz's motion, and she hesitates in catching herself just enough that she hangs by her hair a moment. Her breath is a hiss of pain. Normally, she'd be laughing right now. But not this Caitlin. Not his Caitlin.

Instead, she whimpers pathetically.

"Thank you, Sir. I'm sorry, Sir."

He releases her altogether, glowering down at the pair of them.
"Four hours. I want to see progress when I get back."
Four hours should be enough for the first session. She'll lay the ground rules and work on the real thing's perception. Then he'll return for physical reinforcement. By the time they're through with it, Caitlin will have the adorable pet she's wanted for months.

Cisco doesn't even know what to make of what he's seeing, but it's finally starting to sink in that this mirror never intended to help him at all. But he had brought him to Caitlin, that's the most important part, so he'll figure out the rest later.

He just watches Fitz, confused as to what he's talking about all together. He turns back to Caitlin, trying to fuss at her after she was turned loose. "Are you okay?"

It's sweet, the way he fusses. And it's enough to make her nauseated. Ramon would be just... disgusted to see this behavior. These two Reals are overly attached to each other.

"Yes, Sir." He's going to so owe her for all this. His ego is big enough and she's just feeding it with all of this. But four hours. Four hours is a good amount of time to make some headway. She'll try appealing to his sympathy first. See if she can get him to "play along."

"I shouldn't make him angry. The others are worse. I shouldn't make him have to hurt me."

As Fitz leaves, all of Cisco's attention is on Caitlin now. She doesn't need to do anything to sell this to him, the bruises and the marks on her skin...it's more than enough for a heart as soft as his. And the bonus of having his best friend's face? Well, that just adds insult to injury.

"No, look--" His hands go up to cup her face, make her look at him, but not at all in a way like the sheer manhandling she's been dealing with all this time. "you didn't make him, any of them, do anything. They made those choices on their own. This isn't your fault. None of this. It's--" His voice wavers and his eyes sting with unshed tears. "it's my fault. I should have known, Cait... nobody knows you better than me, she shouldn't have been able to fool me like that. Not for this long."

"Cisco..." Lord, but it's painful to act this weak. But it's an act she's willing to keep up if it helps to break him down. She sniffles loudly, her own eyes welling with tears. "It's not your fault. It isn't."

She leans into his touch, a simple and needy gesture that speaks of lack of basic gentle human contact. Her eyes are still downcast, unable to look her "best friend" in the eye. The real Caitlin seems big on shame and guilt, even with things out of her control. "They watch us. Study us. Who knows how long she was watching me to take my place."

He shakes his head. He doesn't agree, it's completely his fault, but he'll deal with that later. Right now, he's going to tug her into another hug as he tries to simultaneously survey the room to see what he can use. They have to get out of here. Most likely, it will have to be later, when Fitz comes back and they can try and make a break for it when the door is open again.

"What can you tell me about what I need to know to get us out of here?" He asks, pulling away just enough to look at her again.

"There isn't... " Caitlin's breath hitches as she sobs. Such a strange feeling, crying. It's a release, but not one she cares for. It's all soft and gentle and disgusting. "There isn't a way out."

She seems reluctant to let him pull back, like he may disappear if he isn't pressed right against her. "I'm sorry, Cisco. We're both trapped now."
