+ The Drag Pageant +
Who: Everyone!
Where: Yasogami HS auditorium
When: Afternoon of Wednesday, July 16
Rating: PG(-13)
Summary: The drag pageant.
The Story: Whether you're there as a voluntary or involuntary contestant or as an audience member looking for a laugh, this is where threads for the drag contest go!
There will be three top-level threads to help keep things organized: one for the sign-up sheet (which characters will have access to all week); one for Tweedledum to ask questions of the contestants on stage; and a third for the audience. Give me a couple minutes to post them and then have at it! Please make sure to label threads open or closed. ♥

That'll bloody show him.
With Kristen's permission! ♥
He has to do something about this. He can't take his name off the list, but he doesn't want to have to go through with this alone. And isn't it always better to seek forgiveness than ask permission? So he thinks carefully about who is most likely to forgive him if they discover he signed them up against their will, and comes up with someone immediately. He checks to make sure no one's coming, and then adds a name before fleeing the scene:
1/2
2/2

Maybe they'll also see what else he has that's great.

And here I was just gonna sign you up myself and you beat me to it. Guess my work here's done. Unless...

After Buckingham signs her up
She doesn't know who did it. And the worst part is, it could be pretty much anyone. Friends who don't realize how sensitive she can be. Bullies who think this'll take her down a peg. People who might legitimately think she's a boy and she's not.
She's not.
To think she'd been looking to laugh at the boys. Now she feels guilty about that on top of everything else.

Most of the people there seemed in varying stages of distress or amusement, and by and large they were all too embroiled in the task of putting on their costumes to notice another in their midst.
Okay. So it's a drag contest. Seemed like most of them were just trying to have a good time, except--
"...Hey," speaks up an unfamiliar voice at a point behind and below the tall woman. This isn't his town, it's not his problem. Yet wherever he goes, there's just this thing about the genuinely, significantly upset. Like an itch he can't reach. "Are you okay?"
The teenager stands there with thumbs hooked into the pockets of his rumpled blue jeans, staring up through the ragged silver of his disheveled fringe at another stranger.

Throughout the week, Finnick comes and goes past the sign-up sheet for the drag pageant. He should follow his gut and make this pageant one to outlast them all. It'll go down in the yearbooks as the best Drag Pageant the school has ever seen, with two of its contestants being the best of the best, broad shouldered, handsome, and devilishly charming.
Adam Milligan
Haymitch Abernathy
And, of course, he forgets to sign himself up.

Closed for James
At least he's not the only one getting tortured here and he sees a few other surly-looking people around the area, but he also sees people excitedly signing themselves up and that just makes him angrier. Stupid clowns.
In a particularly heated moment of teenage angst and inner turmoil, he turns on his heal and kicks a folding chair hard enough to send it flying.
Of course, it almost hits someone, because that's his luck today.

"Feeling a bit violent today, Haymitch?"
Maybe that was a little more bitter and sarcastic than it needed to be, but in his defense he did almost experience death by flying folding chair.

To his credit, he hasn't actually tried to get out of it - he's come to terms with the fact that this is fair and just punishment for signing Lily up for the other pageant. But it's still mortifying, especially since people have actually signed themselves up with the intention of actually winning the pageant. It's different when everyone is being mocked equally, but James doesn't want to be a laughingstock on stage when there are people who are actually trying.
He picked the most interesting dress he could find on short notice. It isn't the most sexy dress out there, but it definitely has the most endearing pattern so maybe he can make it work. He opted for black leggings, because leg shaving is not a level of commitment he's willing to go to for a school pageant. Also, he actually made an attempt to straighten and flatten his hair so that it could actually be styled, but unfortunately all attempts just made it more unmanageable than before, so he threw a long black wig over it instead.
He's actually a little nervous. He doesn't feel like he makes a particularly pretty girl - he's too tall and angular, with no curves whatsoever - and he's still put off that some people are actually taking this whole thing seriously. It was supposed to be a joke! But James has always done well under pressure. He'll be fine.
He takes a deep breath, and when his name is called he strolls out on to the stage like he owns it.

What turned out from his best really wasn't that bad.
As noted before, Armin lacks a manly physique. He doesn't look completely out of character in a simple, white sundress. And thanks to Eren's over-zealousness over the whole affair, they'd managed to Nair his legs, and Mikasa applied a little bit of make-up to his face...
Now, if only he could stand up straight. Armin walks on stage like the whole world is weighing on his shoulders, depressed and defeated. He just wants to get this over with.

He's been practicing his walk all week and it's hardly perfect, but it's not as wobbly as it might have been.
It's probably clear to anyone who cares to ponder that no one cruelly signed him up. He's here because he wants to be, thank you.

Re: + On Stage +
When his name was called he moved out onto the stage, and to his credit, he didn't break his neck walking in heels. However, his stride felt stiff, trying not to trip in the heels, completely unused to the way they forced his posture and how his foot seemed to land before he felt like it should have. See reference video; Baby Giraffe's First Steps.

Really, anyone who wants a little help with their cosmetic selection or hair is welcome to come to her. But her eyes are always scanning for that one particular contestant because she is going to make the most of wrangling him while it is school-sanctioned.

Peter (OTA)
Oh, he tried to slip into the auditorium thinking that no one would be here this late in the afternoon but suddenly he's surrounded by tables and chairs and he can't just walk out without embarrassing himself. He sits down at one of the tables and picks up a piece of paper and pencil, idly looking at the names. Strange, is it a talent contest? There only seems to be boys names listed.
The lights on the stage shine on and out walks one of the first years in a dress. Peter glances down at the ballot again, confused since he didn't remember seeing a single girl on the ballot...
The contestant is named and the "girl" is revealed to be James Potter. Peter's eyes go wide when he suddenly realized this was not a talent show, but a beauty contest. A male-dressed-like-females beauty contest and he thought that James was a girl... and the worst part of all? He's not half bad as a girl.
"Oh... oh dear..."
He tries to sink down at the table and not be noticed, wondering how in the hell he gets himself into these messes.

He'd promised Lucifer he'd cheer him on, so of course he has to be here. It's a school-sponsored activity, too, and Michael is a strong supporter of participation in school activities.
On the other hand, there are boys wearing dresses. Boys wearing dresses.
Anyone who called Michael sheltered would be wrong. He doesn't shy away from knowledge or experience, partially because he feels it's his duty to guide his younger siblings and prepare them for the real world. His father is very traditional, however, and Michael's own values hadn't developed in a vacuum. There is a certain way things ought to be done, and for boys like Michael that way doesn't involve makeup or flowing gowns.
So he stays glued to the back wall of the gymnasium, looking uncomfortable and even more rigid than usual. He can't wait for this to be over.
