Summary: Toothless is back from his canon update. And confused, very confused. Also, the side of the mansion might have a dragon imprint for a short while.
The Story:
It's a fairly sunny early afternoon. Inconspicuous, almost, aside from Storybrooke making way to Wonderland. Birds are singing, fish are happily living a dragon-free existence. But it isn't to last. A winged shadow swoops over the grounds of the mansion — sleek and graceful, at first, and then flailing as the shadow realizes he doesn't have a rider anymore. Toothless stares around at Wonderland as memories come back to him, willy-nilly, and even his new back fins aren't enough to stop the rapid approach of the mansion itself. There's just not enough time.
The Nightfury gives a very loud, almost long-suffering roar as he collides with the side of the mansion, scrambling with his legs — unsuccessfully — to find purchase. He slides down past, and over, several windows, still rumbling loudly as he ends up in a black, leathery heap at the side of the mansion.
For a long moment, the heap is still, and then slowly Toothless rights himself. He examines himself for a moment before licking a paw and raising it to his face, wiping off the dust that he collected from the side of the mansion itself. His side that hit the mansion is sore, but nothing serious has been done. Dragons have to be tough to do what they do.
And now that he's probably scared someone to death inside, he's back. Though his feelings are mixed, given the lack of Hiccup in the vicinity. It could be like the first time, he supposes — ending up on the wrong sides of the mansion. Toothless cleans himself up a bit more before he gets to his feet, making a noise in the back of his throat that distinctly sounds like grumbling.

That's his story and he's sticking to it.

Thanks, Wonderland.
He shakes some dust off of him, disturbed from the building, and looks up at Ed curiously. Around his body is a very different harness from the one he was wearing before, and along his back is a double row of dark fins that weren't there before.

Then a light goes on in his head. "You got dropped here mid-flight back home, didn't you?"
no subject
Wonderland. He'd forgotten.
How had he forgotten?

She spots a familiar looking dragon when she rounds the corner, stopping in her tracks. "Oh. Hey." There's a smile from Bela as she approaches Toothless, checking him over briefly before her gaze is drawn upwards. She can see where he hit the mansion, but it doesn't look too damaged.
"Are you all right? Did you hurt yourself?"
no subject
This doesn't exactly qualify, but the Nightfury is especially resilient; he's survived worse than this.
(Though, on one of those occasions, he'd lost his tail fin.)
Toothless shakes his body to get rid of the new debris, shaking his new harness — to Wonderland, at least — and the new, mysterious fins on his back in the process.

It didn't take her long to notice the harness and fins that were on his back; she steps forward, reaching out with a hand to pat Toothless gently on the head. Bela doesn't know if he remembers her, but she's friendly and she wants to show the dragon that.
"Those are new. I don't remember you having them before." Interesting. She makes a 'hm' noise as she inspects them closely. "Did you go home?"
no subject
Weird.
That sounds like it's the only explanation, although the dragon is still rather confused as he lets Bela pet him; his eyes are wide.
How had he forgotten all of the vikings here?
no subject
"Hey, it's all right." Bela says softly, trying to reassure him. If anyone told her a while ago that she would be comforting a dragon, Bela would have laughed. "You're okay. I'm a friend."
She scratches beneath his chin with her other hand, continuing to pet him gently. "I'll look after you."
no subject
Oh, right, yes.
Maybe magic is to blame for all of this. That's what the vikings had said last time, isn't it?
no subject
"I didn't remember anything at first either. Your memories will come back eventually." She hopes that Toothless could understand what she was saying to him.
But she knew that he was intelligent and responsive, so there wasn't much of a communication issue between them.

At the side of the plummeting dragon, she's so captivated that she simply watches, mouth agape, as the creature soars past - making her hair blow about in all directions and kicking up a fair bit of dirt around her bare feet - before crashing into the mansion. Less than three seconds later, Lilly is on all fours, feet flat on the ground, and scurrying toward the site as quickly as she can manage.
By the time she gets there, the dragon is standing up and seems to be cleaning himself. Lilly pauses in her pursuit as she draws near and finally hesitates near a scattering of bushes. It's an animal. She's far more animal in nature than human and more than recognizes the danger in rushing, full-speed, at a creature you don't know. Crouching down low to the ground, she stares with wide-eyed wonder at Toothless for several lengthy seconds instead. Then she offers a small, hesitant smile and makes a soft, non-threating sound in the back of her throat like Mama taught her to use.
When she does speak, the word comes out softly and is murmured more to herself than meant for anyone else to hear.
"Bootiful..."

Young vikings have a slightly different scent than adult vikings, and what he can smell is definitely young.
Relaxing a little, the Nightfury trills quietly in the general direction of the scent. His eyes are wide and his ears back, shoulders slumped; this is his most relaxed position, aside from lying on the ground. He hopes he hasn't scared anyone by mistake. Much like colliding with the mansion, that certainly wasn't his intention.

"'lo," she says quietly as she draws near, finally pausing when a few feet away. Resting into a crouch, she slowly offers her hand out, palm facing up, and makes a reassuring sound in the back of her throat.

Toothless' stride is a great deal lengthier, and so it only takes two or three of his own. His body language is still relaxed, as he very slowly presses his snout against Lilly's hand and offers her a soft rumble of a greeting.
Hi!

She missed his collision with the mansion, finding him a little bit after the fact.
"Hey hey, how's my favorite dragon?" She approaches him, hands in pockets and a smile at the ready. "Haven't seen you around lately, have you been hiding?"
no subject
Weird. This must be some fault of magic, he thinks.
He trills quietly, greeting Charlie and getting up to close the distance between them at an easy trot. Once close enough, he rubs the side of his head against Charlie's hands. Some time has passed since they've last seen each other — more for him than her — but Toothless hasn't gotten any more subtle.
Though he has gained a new double row of fins on his back, courtesy of Valka, as well as a new harness.

That's when she notices the changes, her hand pausing for a moment before gliding down to his back, where the harness rested. "This is different. And this!" She lightly pokes one of the ridges, leaning back to look at his face. "Did you level up or something?"
no subject
Vikings and their phrases. He gives her a little nudge. What does she mean?
no subject
"Leveling up usually involves gaining new abilities, or new armor. Just an upgrade to your already existing awesome."
So she figures he's hit about level 70 and hitting his stride.
"I like this." Charlie pokes the hardness a little, eyes trailing down to where it attaches on his tail. "Seems like someone takes good care of you, huh?"
no subject
Well, when he's not... here.
That's a problem.
Toothless pauses for just a moment before he starts showing off again — he starts flicking the new fins on his back side to side, in quick little motions. Someone's been taking very good care of him, with the help of a dragon expert.

"Not bad, not bad. Bet your milkshake brings all the dragon ladies to the yard, huh?" As she says this, a thought occurs - does he have a special dragon lady friend?
"Do dragons have girlfriends? Or boyfriends." If he knows what that is...which is why she kinda hurries to explain. "A dragon you mate with forever, that kind of thing."
