You might belong in Gryffindor
Who: Gryffindors! (+ Friends/Visitors/People sneaking in)
Where: Gryffindor Tower: Common Rooms + Dorms. Gryffindor Table in the Great Hall.
When: During the event
Rating: Label as you go
Summary: Gryffindor Mingle Log
The Story:

Common Room
The common room is a circular room where Gryffindor students can relax after a long day of studying. It is full of squashy armchairs, tables, and a bulletin board where school notices, ads, lost posters, etc. can be posted. The common room is decorated in several shades of red, which is associated with the house.
There are many windows that look out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace dominates one wall. The mantle of the fireplace is adorned with a portrait of a lion. The walls are decorated with scarlet tapestries that depict witches and wizards, but also various animals. There are also bookcases located in the room.

Dorms
The Gryffindor dormitories are also located in the Tower, with two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. One of them leads to the girls' dormitory, the other to the boys'. The stairs to the girls' dormitory are enchanted to become a slide if any boy attempts to climb them, but not vice versa, since it was deemed that girls were more trustworthy than boys... (Look don't blame me it's canon)

Tim Wright | ota, will match any format
You might see him in common room, crammed in as out-of-the-way a corner as possible as he labors of homework with painstaking slowness and grumbling frustration. He's not much good at a lot of his classes, he's come to think. Sure, he scrapes by with average grades, but that's if he really, really applies himself - and some days, he doesn't even have that much in him.
The only class he really excels at is Potions, and he doesn't really understand why. It's basically chemistry, and he always sucked at that kind of thing too.
Sometimes you might catch him sneaking out at night - insomnia's a bitch, wouldn't you know - just to sequester himself in an empty classroom and quietly practice the same spell, over and over.
But no matter what he does, he's never been able to produce a Patronus, and likely never will.]
no subject
Tonight's adventure was a quick trip to the potion's class and back. Naturally, however, there were cases where he'd have to duck into a supposedly empty classroom to dodge the sound of footsteps about to round a corner. Invisibility cloak, he does not possess. And it looks like tonight's classroom of choice wasn't as empty as he thought it was.
He closes the door quietly and raises a finger to the 'mouth' of his cat mask.]
One moment amigo.
[He hopes Tim isn't about to bust a friend, even that weird one you have no idea how you got to be friends with.]
no subject
But despite all that, they've kind of...coexisted, weirdly enough. Even, bizarrely, to the point where they can just kind of consider each other friends. yeah, Tim's not sure how that happened either. So while he's startled that someone barged in on him during his doomed attempts to produce a Patronus, he's not surprised to see who it is.
He opens his mouth, brows knitting together in a frown, until he hears the click of approaching footsteps, and everything comes together with a distressing clarity.
On reflex, his wand flicks out, the word a sustained mental scream in his head.
He manages to get the pair of Disillusionment Charms cascading over the both of them in the nick of time. He's hoping Zacharie will dismiss the curious sensation of an egg being cracked over his skull as the charm trickles down, blending them in with their surroundings at the same time that the door creaks open.]
no subject
But the door is opened, the room is check and left alone. Zacharie breathes a sigh of relief.]
Ah ah ah, now that is cutting it closer than normal! I am lucky I have nine lives...or eight now. How are you, dear Tim?
[Regardless, he's not stupid because the classroom was empty besides them and there probably was no good reason beyond magic that the teacher wouldn't have at least spotted him. Still, he won't call attention to it if Tim doesn't want to.]
no subject
I'm...fine. Doing fine. You know me, fine.
[That's too many fines and too hasty a reassurance. Urgh.]
How're - I mean, what're you doing here? Refilling your, uh...your stock?
no subject
[Often used for Polyjuice Potions and the....interesting events that result from it. But who's he to judge if you wanted to swap places with someone who wanted to take another's class and vice versa? Among other things.]
Nevertheless, why are you up so late? Late night shenanigans are more my thing.
[Perhaps he had some knowledge that Tim sneaked out on occasion but why exactly he didn't know.]
no subject
[That's a lie, of course. He's not doing too terribly in Charms, just...average, unremarkable, like virtually everything else about it. He almost reaches up with the hand holding his wand to scratch the back of his neck, thinks better of it, and uses his left hand instead.]
You, uh...need...company?
[He's not sure why he's offering, honestly. Except that, maybe, it means he won't have to be explaining why he's here in an empty classroom, trying to summon happy memories that don't exist.]
no subject
[Zacharie decides to let it slide. He didn't need the answer to every single puzzle. Perhaps that just came to him because he played one too many video games back when he lived in his parents' house. He could ask but he won't.
Instead Zacharie claps his hands together, leaving the responsibility of deciding how big his smile is under the mask to Tim. Well that works out!]
Excellent! If you are not too busy there is something I could use some help with. And two heads are better than one, as you know.
[And a healthy douse of caution because Zacharie. Tim probably knows how it goes by now.]
no subject
Robbing old Professor Miller again? [he says dryly, moving toward the door to peer outside. Whoever stopped by for a cursory look around evidently didn't see the point in staying. Good.]
no subject
For this adventure, yes. I may need to visit the Hospital Wing as well but that is later. For now let us proceed.
[Tim didn't need to know why he needed to go to the hospital. Zacharie takes a moment longer to look around before starting off at a brisk, quiet walk. He'll trust that his friend will follow, but they did need to be quick.]
no subject
Tim lets Zacharie assume the lead, quick the other guy's heels.]
You know Miller's gonna skin you one of these days once he figures out it's you.
no subject
[Because apparently that's a thing according to a few 5th years. Can't a guy wear a mask, rarely eat with others and give cryptic answers as to why he wears it in peace? Guess not!
Having figured out a route that, while a little roundabout, kept them away from most of the patrolling teachers, Zacharie leads the way until they're right in front of the door. A quick unlocking with his wand and they're in. He shuts the door behind the pair as quietly as possible.]
Now then! I need Fluxweed and a few other things. I will try to find the other things if you wouldn't mind trying for the Fluxweed, amigo.
no subject
He trusts Zacharie's got a better idea of how to skirt the teachers' routes than he does. He doesn't tend to go far when he slips out of the common room, just as far as whatever empty classroom might be nearby.]
Fluxweed. Yeah, okay.
[He's good at potions, so identifying the herb in question isn't difficult. Alohamora and a quick rummaging around in one of the supply cupboards, and he comes up with a handful of the stuff, which he quickly bags.]

Uh. Hey. Sorry, uh, didn't know you were in here.
better than lion around ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Like the way he can't summon a goddamn Patronus, no matter how he tries.]
No one's really supposed to be in here, [he answers, reluctantly.] So I guess that's...not surprising.
AYYYYYY lmao
[She feels like she knows him, or... at least she's seen him. It's hard not to see kids in your same year and house, considering there's not a lot of them.]
You're Tim, right? We've, uh. I mean I think I've seen you around.
no subject
[He shrugs, trying not to make the motion feel as clumsy and poorly-implemented as it probably looks.]
Uh... [It occurs to him, with a pang of guilt, that her name isn't coming as easily to him as his did to her. Not that his memory's really been any good, but it still bites. It just feels like another one of those social rituals he's invariably doomed to fail.]
no subject
[She pretty much only knows his name because she kind of knows everyone. Not really as she means to, it's just that sort of... oh, you're so-and-so's friend, which evolves into knowing their friends, and so on, and so forth.
She can tell he's not so sure about her name, though.]
It's, ah, Jane. Jane Shepard. Most people just use my last name, though.
[Sort of became a thing after she got on the Quidditch team. Always felt better for her, anyway, even though she's not sure why.]
no subject
But then, he's paid little but the most cursory of attention to Quidditch. Not that he's about to admit that aloud. That'd...probably be construed as an insult. Not that he hasn't tried, he just - he has trouble getting himself to focus on even the things he does care about.]
Tim Wright, [he says, because she gave him her last name and it only seems fair to put them both on equal ground as recompense.] So, uh. What're you doing around here this late?
no subject
Just, ah, looking to wander a bit. Spotted a prefect and ducked into the nearest room. I'm not used to being so cramped up at night, even if I have been going here for years.
[The wide, open spaces are just too ingrained in her to get locked in a single room to go to bed by 10 PM.]
What about you? Practicing something?
no subject
[Exactly what he was doing. Only "practicing" implies that some measure of progress is being made, and that you're steadily getting better. And not just saying empty words to an empty room in the hopes that something will eventually happen.
Nothing ever does.
Tim shifts nervously, frowning as his gaze darts to the closed door.]
Are they...I mean, you think they'll come in here?
no subject
Sounds like they're passing. I doubt we'll get caught.
[For good measure, though, she steps away from the door, to reduce the chances of them getting heard.]
Honestly, I dunno why they spend so much of their time making sure we're obeying curfew. Practically everybody breaks it.
no subject
[Tim sounds glumly resigned as he says it. He's just accepted this as a part of his life now - getting roped into things he doesn't wanna get involved in, and then getting blamed for it when it goes wrong.]
Mostly for a better reason besides just "feeling like it," though.
no subject
[She pauses, for a second, sizing him up a bit.]
You don't seem too thrilled with it, though. But you're still here by yourself.
no subject
[He realizes a bit too late that this is...kind of a misleading thing to say to someone, so he hastens to amend it somewhat:]
I mean, I have - problems. Problems sleeping. Sometimes end up walking all over the castle before someone wakes me up. Or catches me before someone important sees.
