Basically. It's, um, a thing we can do. When our emotions go totally haywire, we can just turn them off, like flipping a switch.

Flipping it off makes you not really want to flip it back on again.

[Wait. Waitwaitwait. He remembers this. The tension dissolves as Rocket drags his hands down his face with a groan.]

Aw shit. That's why we had that event. That event sucked.

[She blinks.]

I'm sorry, what? You had a freaking humanity switch event?

[beatupgrass]

I mean humanity is such a limiting term, but yeah. People could shut off their emotions and not feel a damn thing... And when they didn't, they were just overwhelmed with feelings. It was frickin' awful. You couldn't win either way.

[persevere]

I mean...yeah, basically. After awhile you get kind of used to it, but five days isn't exactly long enough for that.

[Her nose crinkles up.]

An entire mansion filled with people having new vampire emotions? No thanks. That sounds like an actual nightmare.

Right. I think I blocked out most of it. Rick and I spent way too much time yelling and crying for either of us to ever feel capable of discussing it again.
