Summary: The moment Newt finds himself in one moment of Hogwarts, even Hogwarts future, he will keep working to get there again. This leaves openings for so many moments in Hogwarts - as well as any other event you want to throw at him! Open for anything.
The Story:

The first time Newt sees one of the shimmering rips, he is hesitant. The last one like that he saw led to him seeing Tina executed. Because of him.

Yet Newt's own nature gets the better of him, and he can't resist moving closer. Not even realizing he's touched it until he finds himself standing in the middle of a very familiar classroom. Nothing seems to have changed in potions since he himself attended Hogwarts.

Laughing, he starts exploring a school he knows well, seeking out whatever changes their might be. Exploring the quidditch pitch on foot and with broom, the classrooms, even seeking out the Hufflepuff common room, delighting in a chance to be back at Hogwarts since he was kicked out.

Whenever he finds himself back in Wonderland though, Newt starts seeking out other of those rips, trying to find his way back to Hogwarts. It is taking the chance with whatever kinds of worlds and events he might experience, but that's worth it in his mind to find Hogwarts again.

"Good, I'm glad. This place takes so much from us, you should have what you'd like," he says, beaming.

"I admit, I didn't finish school but I loved it. So much. I had so much fun there. I could help with animals, if you're at all interested. And there's a lot others could help with. Someone may have actually been a teacher back home too."

"Oh, I'm no good with animals..." She quickly goes back to doom and gloom again. "I'm not really good with anything, except healing and taking care of others..."

"If it works the same way in your world as in mine, it's a possibility. Of course, if your world was mine, they would go to a school to learn their skills," he admitted.

"I've gone to school with several. It's actually been a huge issue for some who are, well, prejudice against muggles. The nonmagical. I think it's a beautiful thing though. A chance for us to have so many other witches and wizards in the world. I always think that's a good thing."

Well, that's interesting. "Hmmm, sixth year as well," he says, assuming this may well be the year he was expelled from the school. That definitely put a darkness on the idea of being in this place once more.

It may well be. Or this may be the year where Newt was not expelled. After all, Wonderland's version of Hogwarts didn't always stick to the history.

Dorian nods, looking Newt in the eye for a moment. "So we're in the same year? Interesting!"

She carefully shakes her head, though she seems a little doubtful. No, she isn't afraid of spirits, but...they aren't really real in her world. Not outside of stories.

"What traits are those? The...Hufflepuff?" She tries the word out but it's so strange in her mouth. "What makes someone Hufflepuff? Or Gryffindor?"

She wants to know what this event saw in her, why it put her where it did, even if it's just for an hour.

It isn't enough. Especially not for Newt and his last experiences here. He's been darting about the mansion, going from one to another, ignoring needs for sleep or meals or anything else, just to spend a few moments here as often as he might before its gone.

Others have told him they've never seen events repeat, and so he expects this will be his last chance to see anything about Hogwarts in this place.

"Exactly! And long as you stay out of the lake, and the forests, that shouldn't be a problem," he says, smiling widely. "Seems my petition for a lake creature was granted at some point after my time here. It's a squid!" He says with all the delight of a new parent.

"So beyond those, and the centaurs in the woods, we should be perfectly fine. Worse that ever happened to me here was caused by another student, and then of course, being expelled. Again, not likely to happen to you."

"Why not? Are you afraid of them?" He asks it softly, concerned as his head cants. "I can help you with that, if you ever wanted to. I have one or two here that you could meet. And healing and caring for others is a great skill. One too many don't understand. That is wonderful."

Mikan blinks, thrown off a little. Animals here? Did he mean like a puppy or a kitty, or... a magic Hogwarts animal?

"...You have them here...?"

"I always choose my words carefully, believe me."

What Red doesn't know is that the core of his wand is made of White River Monster Spine

"Perhaps something simple, is floating simple?"

He can wait to see the brooms, at least for now.

"Strange not stumbling across one another before. I suppose that's the issue with..." He can pretend, which isn't ever going to work and he knows it, or he can try honesty and hope he doesn't answer for it.

"The house differences, I guess? Pleasure though is all mine. Perhaps this is our chance to change so many years without getting to know one another."

"The sorting hat decides. It looks to your desires, the person you are, and the traits you find most important, and then it sorts you to that house."

He thinks back to that day, to hearing this for the first time.

"For me, it was hard work, my determination to protect animals, and my patience in truly getting what I'm seeking. My loyalty to others likely doesn't hurt either." Including a woman that betrayed him, and a school that kicked him out for doing so.

"For a Gryffindor are considered the most brave, with the nerve to take on anything. They rush in and take chances for the sake of others. Sometimes they take on too many dangers, but they're still admirable traits."

"A few of them. I got one from the space station when we were there," he admits. "And then a few that I got from the closet that aren't what I was seeking, but I do love as I learn about them."

"Floating most certainly is. Usually an introduction. Many of the kids are raised in this community but not all are. This is all knew to them," he admits, turning to set a pen from his pocket on the table.

"The motion is a flick and swish," he says even as he emulates that motion. "Then, as you do, you say Wingardium Leviosa."

"W... what kind of animals are they?" She can't help but become curious.

"Andy is a pyjak, and he came from the space station. A bit like a lemur and a monkey. Then there's what I've learned is a fennec fox, as well as one of the tiniest forms of weasel I've ever seen. Also a beautiful and elegant twig bug. "

He speaks of them with such pride, showing how much they mean to him.

That all sounded pretty adorable - except the last thing. "They sound really cute..." She says quietly with a smile.

"They are, and I would be more than willing to educate you on them, as I'm learning and what I've learned so far. If you'd like."

Mikan nodded slowly. If it meant they would stick together, she'd go through whatever he wanted. "Okay... I-I think I'd like that."

"Most likely," he assumes, not giving much thought as to why this person is suddenly enrolled. He bookmarks the passage he was reading and sets it aside, getting up from the couch to properly meet this guest.

"I may as well introduce myself, then." He offers a hand to Newt. "I'm Dorian Gray. Slytherin house, 6th year. And you are?"

"A squid? So... No swimming, then."

She's not even going to touch centaurs. Nope. This is more than enough for one day. Chloe huffs out a breath and raises her wand up, peering at it. If they are stuck here for the time being, there isn't really much point in going around in circles. This is Newt's world, and he seems delighted to be here, and she couldn't have asked for a better guide.

"You don't think I can find a way to get expelled in an hour?" She smiles, turning her attention back to her robes, running her hands over them thoughtfully. "This get up definitely makes me feel wizard... ery. So," Chloe raises up the wand in her hand, shaking it in Newt's direction. "How do I use this thing?"

Kayo's surprised by that choice. She doesn't feel brave, or daring, or like someone who rushes in, but...a magical hat thinks otherwise, apparently. She wonders if the hat is ever wrong, or maybe Wonderland just gave her something random.

"Do they overlap?" She thinks for a moment, carefully wording her thought. "In other words, being a Hufflepuff doesn't mean you aren't brave, right?"

Or, her real concern - that being a Gryffindor doesn't mean she isn't loyal.

"Delightful. We can make plans for it. Perhaps out in the gardens. It's beautiful out there and they could use the time but in the sun," he admits, thinking about ways he might keep them from running off while getting them the time in the grass they need.

Mikan slowly begins to smile again. A nice man, cute pets, sunshine in the garden... It sounded like a lovely, relaxing time. "Heehee... I... I'm getting excited, I think..."

Well, a greeting that like that get a smile from Newt as he shakes the other boy's hand.

"Newton Scamander in Hufflepuff. Newt will do though, certainly."
