genosha event; and i can't stop asking why, why, why
It's wrong of him, he knows, that he finds himself wishing bitterly that he'd never come to discover those powers that now drum at the inside of his skull, that have him "training" with a professional daily, schooling his mind into not breaking into the minds of others. It gets worse when he's upset. It always gets worse when he's upset. He's unstable on several levels, and everyone knows it.
They're too polite to tell him. And the humans are all terrified of him, he knows, and it's fucked up that he'd give anything to be like them. Can't even be grateful for when fate treats you kindly, can you, Timothy? Can't even accept a good thing for what it is. Can't help but throw it back in the face of the universe, when there are hundreds that would sacrifice anything to be like you.
(Only they still haven't told him what happened to the nurse he "broke" the day they discovered he had the mutant gene.)
(And he knows they never will.)
Tim Wright, resident telepath and psychoempathic, walks the streets of Genosha and pretends he can't hear the whisperings and subtle twitches of emotion from every mind that passes him by. Pretends he knows how to switch it all off, just for a little while, and insulate himself so he can finally sort out what he is, what he feels.
He looks as tired as he feels.

white rabbits; just when i thought i'd never see you again
He'd know. Wouldn't he?
It all flies to the winds the moment he recognizes Brian's teasing laugh for what it is, the moment he glimpses the light catching off the shine of the lenses of Alex's glasses, the moment the flare of Jessica's long brown hair disappears around a corner. When he can hear Jay's voice, unmistakably, and, no matter how he tries not - see something else lingering at the corners.
It isn't real.
But that doesn't mean he won't go chasing each specter anyway.

boggart; so i'll bury all my fears and trust they're turning into trees
The effect is dulled, but it's present nonetheless. He starts to cough, sinking to his knees, and the faceless thing that isn't real looms ever closer over him, drilling thoughts he can't hear into his skull, tipping its featureless head this way and that in macabre curiosity over the piercing agony hammering away in his head.
A boggart is defeated through laughter.
What a shame that Tim is arguably the one person least suited to the task.

hospital; they say it's gonna be okay but it doesn't take away the pain
Well, great. That's exactly what he needs on top of everything else.
He behaves. He stays in his room and he doesn't scream and he doesn't shout and he doesn't cry. But he's sitting bolt upright, tense and alert, eyes continuously raking at the corners of each room for a conceivable way out.
There always is one.

shadows; and now there's a heat behind my eyes
It's not Tim you should be worrying about. It's the darker twin that lingers just outside the room, waiting for Tim to make his exit - or perhaps waiting for someone to stop by. It's practically indistinguishable from the real Tim Wright - perhaps bearing a color palette a shade or two darker and duller, on close inspection - almost an exact copy but for the cold amber glint of its eyes.
Don't worry. It's not here to hurt you.
It's just that there are grievances that need airing.
