It may very well be the worst thing that's ever happened to you! | OPEN MINGLE
Who: EVERYONE!
Where: EVERYWHERE!
When: Friday October 27th - Tuesday October 31st
Rating: PG-13, warn if you're gonna go higher!
Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:
For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.
On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.
This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. And here's the plot post if you need it!
Have fun!

Seta Souji
[Waking up in a room in Inaba's only hospital was warning enough that this wasn't going to be a pleasant event. He didn't even have to get up and look around. He knew the room. He knew who would be in the room, even without the pulse of the heart rate monitors.
But he still gets to his feet and turns his eyes around the scene in front of him. Nanako looked so small... He reached out, fully expecting to be unable to touch her, and so it startled him when his hand met hers and it was warm under his fingertips. She didn't seem to notice, with as much pain as she was in, but he still yanked his hand back as though she'd screamed.
His alarm wore off within the few breaths it took to regulate his heartbeat. He knew this wasn't where he ought to be. He was the only one there, other than the very real phantom child in front of him. He'd go find Minato and then Kanji and see where to go from there.
Leaving his room, he found himself not in the hallway, but in an alcove. The door behind him was marked 100a. In front of him is 100b. That must be where Minato was. Taking a breath, unsure what he was going to see, he knocked.]
Day 2-5, October 28-31 | The Diner, floor 8 | OTA
[After the first day and an unpleasantly cathartic but necessary talk with Minato, which he's sure he'll feel better about when this is over, Souji installs himself in the diner. There is food there, there are other people there, and there are no uncomfortable memories. Sure, he still has to tell the truth about anything that comes to mind, but that's easier around people he isn't as close to. They're not expecting much from him but coffee and food, most of them, so it's unlikely he'll get into any Uncomfortable Situations here.
Over the course of four days, he's there, taking orders, cooking, cleaning up after people. He sleeps in the kitchen. Unless asked to or made to, he has no intention of leaving. Somewhere this familiar is comforting when he's feeling such an alien sensation as vulnerability.]

He lived this and knew what to expect. He had been a little bit surprised that he was given the opportunity to react or interact with the scene before him, but he had already resigned himself to not try it. There wasn't any point, nor did he want to change it: He was where he was because of this incident, just like all the other small, seemingly insignificant moments in his life that shaped him. He would leave the way it was, not allowing himself the thought that if things had been different... There was no time or room for "if" or "what if." He didn't want it to be different.
He did get to remember though, which seemed ironic for a place that was inevitably going to make them forget. He got to remember this scene, see it as a spectator, commit the vision to memory, one that he didn't really think about normally and had almost forgotten in a way too.
Reality--whatever that was, if that's what it was--pulled him back more when he heard that knock on the door. He had promised himself that he would watch this a few times, then leave, but he figured that just one more time wouldn't hurt. It hadn't, really.
It was then that he got up and opened the door, just enough to see who it was and reveal half of his face.]
Souji.
[He opened the door a little more then, enough for Souji to slip inside before he closed it again. Right on time too, the scene was just starting over, with that robot and the ominous, dark figure with the mask appearing on that bridge and the approaching car.]

...Is it okay?
[For him to see this.]
no subject
I want you to see it.
[That fight was escalating. It didn't take long before the car was engulfed in flames.]

I got to see them again.
[All of them. The passengers in the car, Death, Aigis. That was one good thing out of this.]
no subject
[It couldn't have been easy, at least not the first time.]
no subject
[Which wasn't a lie since he couldn't lie, as he was finding out. Not that he would either, not to Souji.]
no subject
Thank you for letting me see.
no subject
No one else has seen it. Just you. Only you.

Diner
[He sees the same scene every night in his dreams. It doesn't normally haunt his waking hours as well.]
I'd like coffee. Strong as you can make it. [He left his laptop back in his room and he won't go back for it just yet. Kay's only outlet is the drum his fingers against the counter.]
no subject
Are you okay?
[He realizes after speaking that he shouldn't have asked. Kay will have to tell him, and really, Souji hadn't meant to do that to him.]

[He casts around for something harmless to discuss to prevent spilling anymore information that he doesn't intend to disclose.]
Have you ever gone fishing here?
no subject
[Wow, he feels like he's talking a lot.]
no subject
[Fishing is kind of a social activity after all.]
no subject
no subject
Great! It's been years since I've been able to do it. But you shouldn't make it a job. Fishing is supposed to be fun.
no subject
[While he'd rather not have said most of that, at least he isn't saying anything embarrassing or incriminating.]
no subject
Guess that means I've gotta drag you out for a vacation after this. Maybe find something fun that you haven't done for a while. Aside from skiing since Wonderland's not likely to give us an entire hill to work with unless we can fit it inside one of the rooms.
no subject
[Or it would backfire stupendously somehow.]
