Summary: Palaces! This log is for Palace Rulers to post descriptions of their palaces, and for unaffected characters to wander in and out of them.
The Story:

Palace rulers: These are the characters who experience the bout of lightheadedness and spontaneously manifest a Palace starting at noon on 8/24. As soon as the palace forms, the character is essentially sucked into their Palace and made to play the part of the ruler.

These characters will forget they were ever in Wonderland or indeed had any other life outside of their Palace. If Character A's Palace took the form of her living her dream as a world-famous surfer where the oceans are made of cotton candy, she would always believe she'd been a surfer and that oceans have always been made of cotton candy. Any characters who entered her Palace would merely seem like visitors or intruders to the beach. Maybe they're surf fans, too?

It is possible to "wake" a Person from their Palace if one were to kill them (easy mode... if a bit violent) or make them see it's merely a mental construct (hard mode). If a person were to die inside their Palace, however, it would count as a mansion death. There are no real ways to "unmake" these Palaces other than to snap the person out of it or wait for them to run their course.

Palaces are tied to locations that characters frequent or find special meaning in. They do not outwardly change the appearance of the mansion--the clinic will still look like the clinic on the outside, but crossing inside takes you into the mental landscape of that affected character, and it may look however that player chooses it to.

Unaffected characters: Congratulations, you get to explore other characters’ inner world by visiting their Palaces! There is also a chance of danger should a character enter into a Palace whose ruler is likely to see them as a threat. Should Character A as described above not want a person there, sharks on legs might rise from the ocean and attempt to chase them off. (Sorry about that.)

However, there will always be a way to escape a Palace should you need to. There will always be a door leading back to the normal mansion, though no one else in the Palace will be able to see it aside from the unaffected character. If you entered the clinic and it's a barren hellscape, the clinic door will take you back out. Yay!

It is also possible for characters to see cognitive clones of themselves inside someone else's Palace if that person has a mental image of them. How these cognitive versions behave is, however, entirely up to the Palace ruler, whether realistic or not.

[ She feels really dumb right now. No, this just is really dumb.

Part of her just wants to go through that door and end her embarrassment, but something about just leaving him here in this creepy drawn world feels wrong. The preemptive guilt stops her. ]

This is going to sound really dumb.

[ She sighs. ]

Are you willing to trust me? I know I sound crazy, but I'm not. I swear. There really is a door here, and that's how I ended up here.

[modore]

[He eyes her, then sighs. Really, he's a 29-year-old in an 11-year-old's body, why shouldn't he believe her?]

Okay. So there's a door there. What now?

[entreats]

[ It's a slight relief that he's at least willing to go along with this, but the whole door situation really feels like only the first hurdle on a gigantic mountain to climb. ]

Alright, then on to the next ridiculous sounding part. You're also from the other side of that door. I'm not sure why you don't remember it, or.. whatever this place is.

[ Other than "weird" and "kind of creepy", anyway. ]

That's how I know you. We talked a lot before. It's not like we're best friends, but.. you know. [ A vague hand gesture. ] We talked. I know you're not actually as old as you look right now, if that helps to prove it.

[modore]

[He's about ready to protest, but that last bit makes him pause, tensing.]

I...told you that?

[That's really something he should remember doing. But she couldn't have just guessed something like that, so he must have told her...]

Why can't I remember?

[entreats]

I don't know either.

[ If she did, then it would make this whole deal a lot easier to solve. ]

It probably has something to do with this place though. It's not supposed to be here. Or.. well, I've never seen it before. Maybe it's messing with your head.

[modore]

[He frowns, thinking this over.]

....What happens if I go through the door?

[He doesn't sound like he particularly likes the idea.]

[entreats]

You'll be back, at least. Honestly, I'm not sure if that'll just make the memories pop right back into your head or not. [ But it probably will, if this really is some event going on.. What other explanation is there for this weird world to just pop up behind a door? ]

If you don't like it, you can just go right back.

[ Not the preferred scenario though. But she'll offer him that much if he doesn't seem fond of the plan. ]

[modore]

That's true...

[He's quiet while he thinks is over. It makes sense but part of him is still resisting the idea. This is where he belongs isn't it?]

But I'd be leaving mom and Kayo behind.

[entreats]

[ Telling him to do that is definitely a little harder for Ange. It's not like she knows for sure whether this place is fake or real, although she's leaning towards the former with his lack of memories.. But she knows she'd have a hard time leaving her parents behind if she were in his shoes. ]

.. Hmm. I guess that's a lot to ask. [ There's even a hint of sympathy in her voice as she says it. ] But.. I can't assure you whether this place is real or not. I just know that the place beyond this door is real.

[modore]

[Satoru looks around. He supposes it'd be easy to call into question the reality of a world where he can draw and erase things at will.

After a moment, he looks back at Ange.]

...I'll try it.

[entreats]

Alright.

[ Here's to hoping this is what she's supposed to do and that she won't accidentally mess up his head..

She opens the door - the mansion still, thankfully, on the other side of it - and holds it open. ]

Let's go then.

[modore]

[Now he sees it. Not the door, but what it's opening out onto. His eyes widen and he looks at her quickly as though asking if it's safe.

He's hesitant, but he steps closer until he's standing right in front of the door. He pauses, takes a breath, and steps out.]

[entreats]

[ Ange gives him a small nod when he looks at her. Thankfully she's extremely good at looking completely unfazed even at times when she actually is worried - it makes it look pretty convincing, despite her own doubts. But once he steps out, she follows him.. Not closing the door just yet though, you never know if he has to go back in there if this goes wrong.

She glances at him-- ]

How do you feel?

[modore]

[Satoru shakes his head a little like he's clearing it.]

I...feel fine.

[He looks around, kind of disoriented, but with clear recognition on his face.]

...That was really weird.

[entreats]

[ .. Was? She sure hopes that the implications behind that word mean what she thinks they mean. ]

So.. you can remember everything again now? Is everything back to normal?

[modore]

Yeah... Yeah.

[He nods and looks around again.]

What was all that supposed to be?

[entreats]

[ Ange lets out a small sigh - of relief, even though she can pretend it's just because all of that was a pain in the ass to deal with. ]

You tell me. I have no doubt this is another weird event going on here, but I don't know what you losing your memory and being in some weird drawn world is supposed to mean at all.

[modore]

[He looks at the tea room door. He can guess more than he'd like about what it meant.]

I guess...it's part of me. Something like that.

[entreats]

A.. part of you?

[ She doesn't seem entirely sure how to interpret that. ]

Have you ever seen that place before?

[modore]

Not like that, but those are places from my hometown.

[They just normally don't look like you stepped into a sketchbook.]

Important places.

[entreats]

[ Ange sure hopes they don't normally look like that for Satoru's sake.. who'd want to live in a place like that, honestly. ]

So this place just kind of created a twisted version of your homeworld? Especially since you were looking for people from there.

[modore]

Yeah, I guess so. I'd have much rather it just left it alone.

[Nothing like being reminded of all the places you might not ever see again.]
