Summary: Catch-all log for The Good Place event!
The Story:

Welcome to the Good Place! Your character, tragically, has died in their world. They might not remember how (or maybe they do!) but it’s okay either way because conveniently they have earned enough points to go to the Good Place when they die! They’ve earned a house that they have been told is perfectly suited to them (it is probably not, but who are they to question the universe?!) in an absolutely delightful and quaint little Neighborhood with a frozen yogurt shop on every block. It’s almost irritatingly perfect!

Most importantly though, someone will be living with your character. Someone very, very special - their soulmate, hand-picked from the billions on Earth! Sure, it may not be who (or even what) they expected, but this is what they’ve earned from the good life they’ve lived in your world. They deserve this! They really, truly do.

Everyone is welcome to add details to what exactly is in the Neighborhood - everyone has different standards for what constitutes an "objectively good but still mediocre" neighborhood experience, after all!

Steven Quartz Universe | OTA

[Among the inhabitants of the Good Place, there is one small boy. Steven Quartz Universe cannot remember how he died, and he has been spared from any details about it. He's fine with that, as he's coping with things by just focusing on his life after life here in the Good Place. At least he's ended up in a Good Place! Although... his soultmate is a bit different than his expectations. He imagined something or someone a bit less prickly!

Steven starts his day departing from his house, a small one that is located in an obscure and easily-missed part of the neighborhood. He was told that this reflected his wishes to have his own room and to not have others constantly bothering him.

He can be found wandering around the neighborhood, tugging along a red wagon in which his cactus soultmate is sitting, while there's also a number of thorns sticking out of his clothes. He can also be seen settling down in one of the eateries along with his cactus; he could have easily arranged a double date with another pair of soulmates! And he can also be seen reluctantly preparing to eat some square pizza...]

[ Steven isn't the only one around living the mostly okay yet slightly mediocre experience in this place. Ange's experience too is mostly okay - she isn't being bothered by annoying people, that's pretty okay by her standards - but is also having some soulmate trouble. More in the form of a cat that can't decide whether or not it wants to be carried by her though. Right now it's settled for being carried, so Ange is just walking around with a cat wearing a witch hat on top of its little head in her arms.

That might be kind of weird. Not as weird as the whole cactus situation though, which is definitely pulling her attention as she notices the kid pulling it along in that cart across the street. ]

.. Are you planning on doing some gardening?

[ Hey, it doesn't really look like a soulmate, so she sure isn't going to assume it is one. ]

Hi there! [Steven waves to the girl who approaches and chuckles softly.]

No, no gardening here. Although then again, my soulmate here might appreciate some familiar faces! [He says with a smile as he gestures towards the cactus.] This- this is my soul mate.

[And then he looks back towards the girl, focusing on the cat she's carrying.]

Also, your cat is so cute!!

[entreats]

Ah.. Thanks.

[ Maybe she should've expected these levels of enthusiasm from a kid. No, she definitely should've. But Ange is definitely not used to those levels, so the compliment comes out slightly slowly as she tries to blink and adjust. ]

I didn't know that plants could be soulmates too here. But then again, this.. "cute" thing here is mine. [ Gesturing down at the cat with her head a little. She doesn't exactly have any free hands to do it with. ]

[jamminshield]

That's your soulmate?! [He says with a sense of surprise and wonder as he leans forward to look towards the cat! He smiles and waves.]

Hey there little one! ...What's their name? ...And come to think of it, what's your name also?

[entreats]

My name is Ange. And.. [ She pauses for a moment, glancing down at the cat as if it would suddenly magically be able to speak and tell her its name. Of course nothing of the sorts happens, making for a very awkward silence for a moment or two. ]

.. well, I'm not so sure about the cat's name. It was just in my house. Maybe it's something witchy.

[ You know, with the tiny witch hat and all. ]

[jamminshield]

[He just stands still during the awkward silence, with a confused smile on his face. Then he waves to them.]

Hey there Ange! My name's Steven. I get what you mean... I don't know this cactus's name, either. Maybe... we're supposed to come up with names, unless they say otherwise? Hmmm, what's a good witchy name...?

[entreats]

[ Ange can think of some witch names, but.. nope! Not saying them! She is not going to live for.. however long this afterlife lasts with a cat named after one of the people she hates the most.

There is, however, a good opportunity to not have to carry this cat around for a second here. ]

How about you hold the cat for a second? Maybe something will come to you. [ She holds it out to him.

(She won't dash off and leave him with it, okay, she's not that cruel.) ]

[jamminshield]

Yes please!! [Steven says with an excited breath as he reaches for the kitty. He then holds the cat close to him while swaying back and forth.]

Howww about, Cat-rina? Or maybe Purrr-tricia?

[entreats]

[ The cat seems to rather like Steven! Or rather, it's not struggling nearly as much now and is just letting itself be held. That means it must relatively like it, right? ]

You sure love puns, huh? [ Her tone is still kind of dry, but she's trying hard to not sound too harsh at the same time when he seems so innocent. ] Does your cactus have a pun name too?

[jamminshield]

Of course! There's nothing wrong with being a little pun-ctual! [Steven giggles. And then he glances towards his cactus.]

Oh, I should introduce you! This is Don Prickles!

[entreats]

Don Prickles. I get it.

[ It sure doesn't sound like you get it when you say it with the same amount of passion a rock would show, Ange!! But.. you know. Humor is hard. Even when she's trying to be nice. ]

Should I say "nice to meet you"?

[jamminshield]

[Despite the way she says it, Steven accepts her words completely! And he chuckles, petting the cat while glancing towards the cactus and then Ange.]

Well, it is nice, isn't it? [He says with a soft shrug of his shoulders.]

[entreats]

I guess. [ Ange doesn't do nice well though! Dang that lack of social skills.. ]

It's nicer to meet you than the cactus though. No offense to Don Prickles over here, but I don't think I could have a very deep conversation with it.

[ And at least Steven doesn't seem annoying and is capable of calming her cat for a little while! That's two points in his favor. ]

[jamminshield]

You'd be surprised! [He says, as he smiles and nods towards the cactus.] I know Don Prickles might seem prickly at first, but we've had some really great interactions once we got to know each other!

[Even if all conversations tend to be a bit one-sided. He pets at the cat some more now.]

But let's get back to your soulmate. A nice, witchy name... It could even just be Li'l Witchy!

[entreats]

[ Oh god, did he really just make a prickly joke. Did he. At least that makes her feel kind of grateful to return to her own now-eternal cat problem. ]

I'm not sure if I want to give that cat that much power. Before you know it, it'll turn into a real witch. And we all know those are no good. [ Wow, keep your witch discrimination to yourself, Ange. ]

[jamminshield]

[Every joke has its thorns.]

Hey, you don't know that for sure. Witches can be good if they want to! And I'm sure that your soulmate would only be the best which that there can be! [He chimes optimistically!]

[entreats]

Are you so sure about that?

[ Granted, Steven does seem pretty sure. But Ange could never find herself thinking anywhere near along the lines of his optimism. ]

Granted, I guess they did say we ended up here since we were good people.. But that definition is still pretty broad, don't you think? "Good" people often do bad things too. [ Hell, Ange even thinks she herself isn't a super good person to begin with. ] Who knows what that cat could've done.

[jamminshield]

Awwwww. What's the worst a kitty cat like this could have done?

[He holds that cat out a little bit and looks into its eyes.]

Maybe thieving. Cause you've stolen all our hearts with your cute little eyes, Kitty!!

[entreats]

Okay, I think that's enough kitty time for you for now. [ If not just because Ange has absolutely no idea what to do with this enthusiasm overload going on here.

She moves to grab the cat again and take it from him.. even though it doesn't go too easily. The cat struggles a bit again. ]

Seriously, you'd think he's trying to replace your cactus friend.

[jamminshield]

Oh, right, all of this cuteness should be saved for you! [He smiles as he hands the cat back over to her... and tries to ease the cat back into her grasp.]

Hey now Kitty, we each have our soulmates, but we can all still be friends! ...Hey, how about Felina? It sounds witchy and catty!

[entreats]

[ Ange seems to think about it for a moment, but then continues. ]

You know, that doesn't sound like too bad of a name. [ Which is Ange speak for "hey, I actually like that quite a bit!" Which is what she would say if she were actually capable of feeling excitement.

The cat seems to finally settle down a bit in Ange's arms at the sentiment too. ]

I think I might just go with that. It'd get kind of weird just saying "hey, cat" for the rest of eternity anyway.

[jamminshield]

Yessss! [He pumps a fist excitedly and watches the two of them with starry eyes.]

I'm glad that you like it! Then... let's make it official! [He clears his throat and tries to make an official-sounding proclamation.] I dub the... Felina, the Magical Cat!

[entreats]

[ Who knows whether or not the cat can understand human speech. It almost seems as if the cat does understand it though - when Steven says that, it turns itself towards him and lets out a meow.

That.. probably sounds accepting? Ange, on the other hand, seems a little less enthused. ]

Thanks. Even though I feel kind of ridiculous right now.

[jamminshield]

[Steven's grin becomes goofy, and he makes a soft noise as the cat meows at him! And he continues to smile strongly as he looks back at Ange.]

You say that like it's a bad thing. Nothing wrong with being a little ridiculous!
