+ Why, you're only a sort of thing in its dream! | MINGLE LOG +

Who: EVERYONE (Reals AND Mirrors!)
Where: D R E A M S I D E
When: June 6th - June 12th
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher!
Summary: Mingle log for the Dream Side event! After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual.
The Story:

After the girls’ seance, every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing at the time, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual. Elements may seem familiar, but it's clearly a different place.

Welcome, Mirrors and Reals, to DREAM SIDE. The sky above is dark and speckled with far-off stars but the world below is unnaturally lit and bright. There is a mansion at its center, but it is warped and unusual, as though someone stretched it like taffy, but if you try to enter it, you'll find that the door is not just locked - it appears to be painted on, as though it is just static scenery. It isn't a mansion that can be entered, just a cartoon-ish mansion cobbled together from dozens of memories.

Dream Side, as you might have guessed from the name, is not a static place. It is built from the scraps of dreams of those who cross into that side of Wonderland. Characters on this side of Wonderland are not asleep, but the world they are in is shaped by the contents of their dreams. Unlike the glass between Real Side and Mirror Side, there does not seem to be an obvious thing connecting this Side of Wonderland to the other two - at least, not something visible.

They are not alone in this world either - because the girls were conducting a seance, they have inadvertently called upon the dead. For each time your character has died a mansion death, there will be a ghostly copy of them wandering Dream Side. They will look as standard ghosts do - pale and translucent, looking as they did the moment they died. They will have a tendency to haunt their current living version (and those who care about them), but they will not be able to speak directly with them. For Mirrors, these ghosts can be Unmade versions of themselves, if they were ever Unmade. Some ghosts might be hostile and some might just gently haunt from a distance - it will depend on the character and what they would do if they were a ghost how they behave.

Behold, the world your dreams have built!

[Sparkly horse library]

[The library is instantly recognisable for Sunburst- when he finds himself here, he wonders briefly if he was sent home- but no, he remembers Wonderland and the library is rather devoid of other ponies. So this is more Wonderland madness, then. He wanders the shelves, enjoying the familiarity, picking up a few books and flicking through them half-heartedly. For what he's learned of the Jabberwock already, he knows there's a chance it has something to do with this- the fact this has happened without any warning from the residents- aside from Alice doing something that looked very much like an attempt to contact the dead- suggests this is something more than a normal event. If you happen to be around while he's heading out, he offers a smile. ]

Uh. Feel free to look around the books, hopefully, it's safe. Though have you seen anything of the Jabberwock? I have a feeling it has something to do with this. Everything seems too closely linked for it not to be.

[Craigh Na Dun]

[Sunburst has heard plenty about the standing stones Claire stepped through and travelled through time with. Of course, he doesn't know they're exactly these standing stones, but standing stones are always pretty damn magical where he comes from, so it seems a good place to spend time.

He can be found circling the stones, occasionally hovering a notepad and quill beside him scribbling notes. Sometimes, his horn lights up with his usual yellow magic, which he sends off into the circle, watching it dissipate away.
]

Fascinating.

[Trost]

[Sunburst finds the walled city and a horrible feeling of dread sinks in his stomach. It could be somebody's dream, just a pile of nothing that was conjured by someone's subconscious. But he also knows it probably isn't that and someone he knows comes from such a city. He wanders around, worried, ears slicked back. Ohhhh this is probably bad. He feels the need to check, just in case Jean is here somewhere.

He's absolutely not a fan of the pure titans when they show up- they're exactly as awful as Jean described them and he isn't prepared to get into any combat situations. No sir. He can be found galloping through the chaos, trying to get the hell out of there. Help a pony out?
]

[Wildcard]

[Want something else? Want to imply Sunburst headed to a different area? Please throw it here, chances are he was there at some point!]

[You know, Kokichi's kind of disappointed that he didn't get turned into a magical unicorn once he stepped foot in this place, but since humans are a little taller than ponies he gets to feel tall for once as he uses his hands to pull random books on the shelves.]

Not yet, but I got that same feeling.

[A book that only lists ugly beasts from the sparkly pony world does NOT help, so he kind of tosses it over his shoulder into the small pile of books he threw on the floor. Probably to annoy the nerdicorn a bit.]

You think it's gonna come in here and try to eat us all?
Edited 2019-06-07 03:49 (UTC)
bibliocorn: (I was just guessing)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-07 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kokichi can you stop disrespecting the books for like one minute? Sunburst watches them pile up on the floor, his nose wrinkling a little.]

I'm pretty sure the librarian isn't here, but perhaps could you avoid throwing the books around like that?

[He'll levitate a few back to exactly where they belong, casting a pointed look in Kokichi's direction.]

I don't know. I'm not sure what it wants - but it seems a little suspect that it gets free and so soon after that, we're in this place. It's clearly not the mansion proper.
shslliar: (It saves me time)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-07 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Huuuuh? Aren't you supposed to be the librarian here?

[shoves a book as it's being levitated to see what happens.]

Lemme guess, you weren't paying attention to the network before this happened?
bibliocorn: (Frysquint)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-07 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the librarian in Wonderland. This is the Crystal Empire library, somepony else runs this place. She was here long before I showed up.

[He has a different job in the Crystal Empire. The book in question spins lazily in its little magical field. Sunburst gives a soft, annoyed noise, raising it higher.]

I hardly ever pay attention to the network if I'm honest. What happened?
shslliar: that's beyond saving (Dependent on this self)

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-06-08 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Whelp. Now he knows he can mess with the floaty stuff.]

WELL, apperently someone told Alice, the twins, and three other girls that holding a seance would help them find the White Queen or something. I was betting she'd end up summoning a ghost, but nope! We all get poofed here instead.

[Clearly he will only use this knowledge for good. Clearly.]

...Oh. That's- that's deeply unfortunate.

[This is why he doesn't like the Wonderlanders. This is exactly why.]

That does beg the question where here is. It seems a little like the place we were in for Hear- um the winter. The one with the scenes?
shslliar: (Now that I think of it...)

... Last Christmas?

[Weirdo horse holidays...]

Yeah, now that you mention it, that weird sky does look a lot like the worst of those... Blank void thingies.

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-09 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't celebrate Christmas- but yeah, sure, whatever.

[Ugh it's such a dumb holiday.]

Exactly! It's like... I don't know. It seems like everything is disjointed- not quite linked together properly.
shslliar: (Boooored)

[Not as dumb as horsemas.]

[ Claire had felt pulled here, drawn, though she didn't know why.

Not until she hears the humming. ]

Oh, my God.

[ She turns in a circle and then calls for Jamie before following the sound, not wanting, she runs and then she sees it--the hill. Craigh na Dun. Blinking quickly, she gapes at it and then continues making her way up the hill until she can see Sunburst. ]

Be careful! These are the standing stones!

[ She has no idea if they work or if he can go through, but she can hear the frantic buzzing and tightens her fists at her sides. She shouldn't want to touch it. Always, it's because something is pulling from the other side.

Brianna left. ]

Christ knows where we'd wind up if we went through.

[ Or maybe just her? God, she doesn't know. ]
bibliocorn: (Wait shit everything is different)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-09 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[He turns to the sound of her voice, offering what he hopes is a reassuring smile. Don't worry, Claire, he's not going to do anything stupid. He'll leave reckless;y wandering into magical circles for you. ]

Hmm, I thought as much. There's a lot of magic here. Can you feel it in the air? The place is heavy with it. Kinda like before a storm.

[He's used to Wonderland and its own brand of magic that's powerful but makes no damned sense. But this, this is real magic- natural magic. Like the kind that flows through the Everfree Forest, wild and untamed. He wants to learn more. ]

The past, possibly? Gosh. Could you imagine seeing into Wonderland's past? We could probably learn how this all started. Maybe even learn how to stop all of this.

[ Claire looks at the stones, more than she looks at Sunburst for a moment, feeling her heart seem to pulse with the electric humming. ]

You may not be able to come back, or--we. Christ, it may not even work right at all.

[ She stands in front of the tallest stone and now looks at her friend. ]

It's painful. To go through the stones, have I ever told you that?
bibliocorn: (You'll never be on bake off)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-13 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[He turns and chuckles, offering a reassuring smile.]

Oh, sweet Celestia, I'm not planning to go into it, don't worry about that. I'm curious, but I'll leave the reckless diving into unseen danger for Starlight.

[Sunburst likes to study and write things down. Brave adventurer he is not.]

Though I do wonder how it's here. It's definitely its own thing. Not really Wonderland. Or if IT is Wonderland, it's mimicking a different magic very well.
beautifullies: (425)

[personal profile] beautifullies 2019-06-18 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Claire lets out a soft breath of relief that he didn't plan to let his curiosity get the better of him. ]

There are a lot of things here from other places, I think. I don't understand what this is, exactly, or why I'm just as drawn to it now as I ever have been.

[ She's purposefully moved herself so that Sunburst is between her and the largest stone. ]
bibliocorn: (Wonderland bullshit again)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-19 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[He notices and he doesn't especially mind. He's not exactly the greatest defender or anything, but he'll sure try. All four foot nothing of him.]

Hmm. There's a library from home for me. I guess it's picking places that hold some sort of significance to us. Why, I'm not quite sure, but then Wonderland tends to answer that question with 'because'.

Suburst!

[The huge perk of being a technicolor pony in a world of various shades of brown and grey, you sure stood out, even from a distance. Jean was able to maneuver to his tail in a snap. In his world, Titans took no notice of horses, but he wasn't about the take any chances. As soon as a Titan got within arm's reach of Sunburst, Jean pulled a quick flip, grappled into an adjacent building, and sliced through the nape of the Titan's neck with a darting blow.]

[Man, it'd been a long time since he had to kill a Pure Titan. He was kind of surprised he could still do that so easily. He came to a stop against the wall he had anchored to, and called back down.]

'The hell are you doing here? It's dangerous!
bibliocorn: (No more friendship fieldtrips)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-09 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sunburst is so very glad to see Jean. He's not great when it comes to high calibre violence. His world isn't always safe, but problems are usually solved without any bloodshed. He's doing his gosh darn best to compartmentalise all of this, skidding to a halt behind Jean's legs. This is the worst day.]

I don't know!! I just turned a corner and I was here? I- I think this is like dreams? Pretty sure that's where we are. And I have no idea how to wake up!!
angewiesen: (79)

[personal profile] angewiesen 2019-06-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think waking up's an option right now!

[Jean came to the dream conclusion too, and has tried everything short of suicide to wake himself up. None of it worked. And since killing himself was never an option in his book, no matter the circumstances, he'd resigned himself to dreamland until whatever was going on here ran its course.]

Run for the gates! There aren't any Titans outside the Walls! I'll keep your six!
bibliocorn: (Fuckin galloping)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-10 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope! Figured that one out just about when the screaming started.

[Sunburst has absolutely no arguments for running the hell away. He's not a combatant by any means, running and screaming are usually his go-to reactions when faced with certain death. ]

I don't know what six means but yeah okay! Don't have to tell me twice. Please don't die!

[He's going to gallop towards the gates as fast as his little legs can carry him. ]
angewiesen: (91)

[personal profile] angewiesen 2019-06-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Jean wasn't about to pause to teach Sunburst military lingo either. He stayed close on his tail while trying his best to ignore the smell of blood and the screams of the dream-citizens around him. It was extremely difficult. He couldn't communicate with them, and had a strong feeling they weren't real at all, but he still had the instinctual urge to save them.]

[Thankfully, his extensive history with Titans didn't fail him. He was able to kill the few Titans that targeted Sunburst (another anomaly-- real Pure Titans would never try to eat anything that wasn't human) and protect him until he passed through the gates. The Titans didn't follow, as if they physically couldn't. They didn't exist outside the borders of Jean's dream.]

[Jean landed with a somersault. He made it look easy when it was one of the hardest things in the world.]

You aren't normally the type to get yourself in trouble. [Jean took a deep breath to calm his nerves] You really don't remember going in?
bibliocorn: (So basically we're fucked)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-12 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sunburst only comes to a skidding halt when he realises the Titans can't follow him. Jean will find him trying to catch his breath, looking considerably more shell shocked than before. ]

You're right, I'm very anti-trouble.

[He'd rather stay alive- racing into danger may come naturally to some of his friends, but not Sunburst. He's a scholar, not a fighter. He lets out a breath, phew. ]

I just...wandered in. I've been wandering around a few of the dreams that are around, this is the first one that actively attacked me. [He offers a smile.] Thanks for the save. I'm not sure if we can die here or not, but I owe you one all the same.

[personal profile] angewiesen 2019-06-14 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Just doing my job. [Kind of. He didn't have an official job here, just a kind of responsibility he decided to bear.] I'm sure it's my fault that this appeared in the first place, so I'd say it's on me to make sure no one gets killed by it.

I'd fight the urge to wander, if I were you. Stay where-ever your part of the dream is. From what I've heard of your world, you're probably safest there.
bibliocorn: (Taking you on a guilt trip)

[personal profile] bibliocorn 2019-06-14 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say that. You can't help being here, this is just Wonderland picking pieces of our minds and using them against us. Again.

[Though he does not that should Wonderland decide to use Jean's world in an event, if it hasn't already, it would not be a fun time for anyone, nope. ]

As is, it's... largely safe. Just the Crystal Empire library. So you're probably right.

[He's glad that Wonderland didn't select some of his worst dreams to toy with. It would be a different matter altogether if the Pony of Shadows was hanging around. ]
angewiesen: (98)

[personal profile] angewiesen 2019-06-15 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Then I'm working to assuage my own potential guilt. Because I would care if someone died in here, my fault or not.

[Sometimes feelings of responsibility and guilt were hard to separate.]

That small a place? [Since Trost appeared in all its entirety, and it's fucking huge.] You think any trouble could stir up in there?
