Calling all Magic Users 2

Who: Yujinn and any magic user who feels like showing up
Where Kitchen
When: Sometime in the afternoon.
Rating: PG for now
Summary: Yujinn decides to try to meet the various wizards and mages to sort out a more reasonable theory of magic.
Story: Yujinn walked into the kitchen, setting down his papers. He thought he had a decent sorting system worked out, based on various categories. Innate/trained, internal/external focus (focus animate/inanimate), good/bad/indifferent...
He started the list with his own hold magic: TIG, blood magic I/TIB.
Now it was only a matter of who would show up.

Ron nodded, slowly beginning to loosen up as he saw that there didn't appear to be any right or wrong answers.

"It depends on the wizard. Some of them practice the Dark Arts, and they don't teach that to us in school. But the bad ones, they find a way to learn. Most of them are followers of You-Know-Who, and they're pretty much anti-Muggle. They believe the Purebloods are better than Muggles and Muggle-borns, and... well, things got pretty bad when You-Know-Who led them into power. I don't really remember all that, though. I was just a baby."

"No, I really don't know who. I suppose someone evil right?"

"Pureblood." So that sort of idiocy existed in other worlds as well. "If it's anything like my world, after a couple generations of being purebred, they'll just be inbred."

Ron's expression became confused before he realized, "Oh, I don't suppose you do know who. Er, that's what we call He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named." Though Harry had the guts to say Voldemort's name, Ron still couldn't bring himself to say it.

He became all the more confused as he asked, "What's inbred?"

"Quite a mouthful, he must have an awfully stupid name if he doesn't want anyone to say it." He giggled.

"Inbreeding it the unfortnately results of letting cousins marry. All the negative traits multiply because they keep getting bred back in." Perhaps it was a bt of smugness, that he was half-blood, but then, most everyone he cared about had been a Pheliostan descendent.

Ron smiled a bit, though he was still too conscientious to actually admit that Voldemort's name was a bit on the silly side.

He furrowed his brow as he thought about inbreeding. "Well, most Purebloods marry their cousins, I think. My parents might be related by marriage, but I don't really listen when they talk about that stuff." Wincing, he remarked, "I'll bet the Malfoys and the Blacks are all inbred, then."

"You see?" He shook his head, "Never ends well really." Ishtar had said the same thing, as well as his own mother once.
"More important families, or just people you know?"

He remembered belatedly to mark the paper under 'nuetral' but with a small question by 'evil'. Ron had implied that some spells were considered evil and were not taught to most people.

Ron gazed at him questioningly before realizing, "What, the Malfoys and Blacks? Well, the Malfoys like to think they're important, but my dad works with Mr. Malfoy and says they're just a bunch of snobs... and other words that he told me not to repeat. I could think of a lot of words for Draco, as I'm 'lucky' enough to be a classmate of his."

He paused for a moment before adding, "The Blacks were big, big supporters of You-Know-Who. Most of them are locked away in Azkaban, though there's one here right now. He says he's not evil, and everyone seems to believe him...."

"I see. Seems like a small world." He laughed a little, "Believe me, I know plenty of close kin I'd rather not be around."

"Well, I still don't know who, but..." He giggled again. "As you were saying. Who is this Black? I haven't met him, I don't think."

He didn't know what to make of Yujinn's constant giggling, as he didn't think he'd been saying anything funny. Still, he overlooked that in favor of explaining, "His name's Sirius Black. He killed a whole mess of people ten years ago, where I'm from. But here, he's only a teenager and says he never did any of that. Still, he didn't act at all surprised when I told him what he'd end up doing in the future, so I wonder sometimes."

"That is strange. If he hasn't done it yet though, he isn't guilty. Maybe he'll be different in the future because of this place. I don't know, the very thought of time travel is confusing." Yujinn made a quick note of that anyway, it was worth investigating.

"If people are here from different times, I wonder if you could meet yourself. I mean, otehr than your mirror self."

Ron shrugged. "This time nonsense is just as big a mystery to me. I've met my friend's father, but he's only a few years older than us."

He thought briefly about the idea of being able to meet himself. "Well, apparently, three versions of Harry have been through here, but never at the same time. I'd think that, if they all could pop up at the same time, they would have by now, right?"

"I suppose, but nothing here seems to make sense anyway." He made a note of that anyway. If there were rules this place followed, it might give him something to go on.

"Harry is a friend of yours?"

Ron grinned, as he so often did when he got to proclaim his close relationship with the famous Harry Potter. "Best mate, he is. Harry Potter's the one who defeated You-Know-Who, and he was only a baby at the time. He doesn't remember it, of course, but he's a very powerful wizard, just the same."

"So he's someone with a lot of talent then?" It was interesting to think that a child could overpower a dangerous mature wizard.
"I still don't know who though." He grinned, "Maybe we should get some food before continuing, it's getting close to lunch, isn't it?"

"Oh yeah," Ron quickly agreed. "He's the best wizard there is. Or one of the best, at the very least."

He sheepishly cleared his throat, not at all willing to vocalize You-Know-Who's real name. "I guess. Er, we wouldn't have to cook, would we?"

"And he's your age? Quite remarkable." He was starting to think that Ron might be overestimating his friend, but he wouldn't be sure without meeting him.

"No, we can just get some of the food the kitchen makes. At least that's something convenient about being kidnapped here."

"A few months younger than me, actually," Ron replied. "But he's much better with his spellwork than a lot of first years. And his flying is tops! He's the youngest person to make it on a Quidditch team in a hundred years!"

Ron nodded. "That's good. I don't much like cooking."

"What's Quidditch?" Yujinn asked, guessing that it must be some sort of sport. Involving flying?"

He stood and began collecting his papers into a neat pile. He didn't trust this mansion to leave them alone while he went to get his food.

"Oh, it's a wizard sport," Ron responded, forgetting that people outside the wizarding world weren't familiar with it. "It involves broomsticks and hoops and bludgers. Great fun, it is."

Yujinn wasn't sure what to make of that, although it certainly sounded... energetic. "I'd love to see that sometime. What do they do with the brooms?"

Ron tried to remember the simplistic basics of Quidditch, from back when he first explained it to Harry. "Well, you fly on the broomsticks and try to avoid getting hit by the bludgers while getting the quaffle through your goal. The game ends when the team's seeker catches the Golden Snitch." There. That about summed it up.

"Really now?" That was certainly a interesting batch of words. He hadn't the sleightest clue what a quaffle or a snitch was, bludger sounded a bit more descriptive.
"So, flying on broomsticks.. that's a magical focus, or are the brooms enchanted themselves?"

Thinking on it for a moment, Ron replied, "Well, I've never heard of a Muggle on a broomstick, so I guess that's a wizard thing. We learn how to fly in our first year at Hogwarts, but I guess we can take regular brooms and enchant them to fly, though they wouldn't be as fast."

"I see, it sounds facsinating. I wonder if I can find something like that in the bazaar, but I wouldn't know what to look for."

"Are they manufactured like wands? How do those work? Is it like a ruelle that uses the power of a magical creature?"

Ron tried not to blanch at Yujinn's questions. He had never been one to care about the mechanics of how things worked.

"Er, I'm not really sure. But Harry's father, James, is here, too, and he's aces at Quidditch. He probably knows lots more about brooms. I just know that they come in different models... like Muggle cars, I guess."
