but you know what they say about me

Who: Meg & various (closed)
Where: Throughout the town
When: The 21st-23rd.
Rating: R for language I'm sure
Summary: Meg is a general pest
The Story:

As usual, she's on the prowl.

It doesn't matter if it's in her own apartment building, or an alleyway a few blocks down. Meg is a silent witness to many things - or she would be if she knew how to keep her mouth shut.

Silence was lame, anyway.

There is this instinctual need to know what's going on at all times. Her fingers are also a little sticky, swiping a prized possession here or a few bills from someone's wallet when they bump into her on the street.

This doesn't mean she's particularly good at what she does. Luck is her very best friend, so close she's able to manipulate it just the slightest. Make someone fumble with their keys if she's inside their house snooping around, or make that light drizzle a complete downpour when she needs a quick getaway.

This is probably more of an annoyance to others than something to fear, but it keeps her alive. That's all that matters in her mind.

And so, she can be seen around town. Throwing out comments and, in general, being a pest that just can't be squashed.

Castiel's well aware of her approach, and he'd been expecting it, as there's no other reason that she would be hanging around here other than to bother him. He still doesn't comprehend the reasoning behind any of that. He's a superhero, yes, but there are plenty of them around. His powers may be somewhat unique, but even so, there's little reason for someone to take such an interest.

It makes him wonder if there's some other reason, if this woman is perhaps working a job for someone, and that thought sees to it that he doesn't let his guard down.

He turns back toward her and frowns, shaking his head in response to both comments. "I'll be turning it into the police," he rasps out, his voice pitched low as it always is when he's in costume. It's something he has to do in order to disguise himself, and most heroes (and villains) alter their voice in one way or another, as a precaution.

Time to be blunt with this woman, though. "What do you want?"

After dealing with his fair share of villains, Castiel is hardly bothered by people getting up near his face. He's had people trying to intimidate him with their bulk before, and yet that's hardly the case here, because he's both taller and wider than this stranger. She's trying to make him uncomfortable, maybe, to pull a reaction out of him, and yet he simply stands there and stares down at her, jaw set.

"Both of those things would be crimes," he points out, though he hardly needs to. He wouldn't be much of a hero if he were doing that kind of thing, and so he doesn't understand why she suggested it in the first place. He does tuck the bag away for now, though, in case she tries to snatch it from him. He doesn't have much interest in chasing her around simply to reclaim some narcotics.

As for the remark about his outfit, that's a popular taunt and one that rolls off of his back rather easily. He shrugs his shoulders, which causes the cape to flutter out behind him. "Are you done being friendly now?" He has so little patience for this.

Admittedly, it's true. Castiel isn't much of the fun type. When he's in costume, it's all business. He tracks down villains and turns them into the police, and the moment that they make their way out of prison, there he is again to place them right back in.

Outside of costume, he has a job that's his main focus, and which in many ways supplements his true duty. Being a journalist for the city's main newspaper means he has a direct line to all the information he might need to fight crime.

Which doesn't leave much time to relax, but Castiel prefers it that way. He gets uneasy when he doesn't have some task to focus on. Not that he doesn't have a friend or two, but they're few and far between.

When the woman tugs on his cape, Castiel spins around and eyes her warily. She isn't being openly hostile, so he also keeps his stance neutral for the moment. "Reach out for what reason?" If he could get some idea of what she wants with him, maybe he'd be at least slightly more receptive.

From Castiel's perspective, there are all kinds of reasons that this woman could be stalking him. She may want to know more about his powers. She may even be interested in his true identity. None of which he wants to share with a stranger, naturally, but it's not as if he hasn't earned the interest of a random villain in the past.

He's assuming she's a villain, at least. It's something about her overall attitude that makes him certain of that.

Which is only confirmed when she reaches out to... stroke him. Castiel frowns and immediately backs up, but he finds himself cornered against a wall. Not that there's any reason to be concerned, as if it came to blows he'd be sure to best her, but she isn't attacking him. This is something else entirely, something he's not prepared to deal with.

And so he keeps his response short. "No."

She is too close, far too close. While she's keeping her hands to herself now, that could easily change, especially with the way that she's speaking.

Some might find this ridiculous. The Guardian, who's feared by at least a few different villains throughout the city, is reduced to a bundle of nerves the moment that a woman pays him attention. But Castiel isn't well-versed in this sort of thing, and it's the last thing he would expect to have to deal with while working.

He slides to the side, working his way around the woman and away from the wall so he doesn't feel quite so trapped.

"I'm not interested," he insists, and he starts marching away. As soon as he gets clear of this alley, he can take off and get away from her. Now that he's certain she has no real reason for tracking him, there's no point in him staying here.

Oddly enough, this is really all it takes to make the Guardian uncomfortable. There's a little secret to spread around. Not that he would let it stop him from taking in a criminal, but he doesn't even know if this woman falls into that category. He has a good hunch, but that's all.

Her question causes him to tense, mainly out of irritation, and he swivels back around to face her, eyes narrowed.

"It's neither of those things. I don't fraternize with the enemy." It's more or less an excuse so that she'll stop bothering him with pointless questions, but either way, he has a clear enough opening now to take off.

Which is exactly what he does, turning away from her to kick off into the air. The speeds at which he can move are unreal, and before long he's nothing more than a speck in the sky.
