Oh? And what sort of things are you?

[ Does he get points for honesty? ]

[Evelyn volunteers helpfully, lofting an eyebrow. He's definitely honest about it, that's for sure.]

[ He looks offended. He is, a bit. ]
I do not break hearts, nor do I gamble. Some might call me a rogue and a bounder, but I’ve never been anything but honest with everyone.

Carry these for me.
[That's...not a question.]
no subject
Shall we?

[Darn straight she was carrying those all by herself around the entire school. Clearing her throat, nose in the air, Evelyn leads the way through the open door.]
no subject
Surely you didn’t read all these?
no subject
[she declares, matter of fact, before the part of her that craves approval caves in and Evelyn asks another question.]
...why? These aren't, um, silly books, or anything.
no subject
Not at all. They just seem... heavy. In the topic sense, though a few of these are hefty as well.
[ He's curious, okay? ]
no subject
[she points out defencively, turning to look at him over one shoulder. So what if one of the texts is a heavy volume of Kant, and another a translation of The Book of the Dead by Budge?]
...a lot.

[ You'd never catch him with such works, but then he's a cad and a layabout. ]

I'm preparing for university, [she explains matter-of-factly.] If I'm going to be an expert in my field, I've got to make strides now.
no subject
[ Now, he’s curious. ]
no subject
[Evelyn is the sort of girl who faces adversity in a field dominated by men, so she has to constantly tell herself that she'll get there with flying colours.]
no subject
[ Porthos is completely open and honest, nonjudgmental when he asks, ]
Good lord, why?
