Presented by 2-3, this chic and semi-intimate karaoke lounge is heralded as the perfect get-away for those students and visitors looking to burn a little energy dancing and singing. Despite how it might first appear, the room boasts a deceptively large space, plenty of seating, and basic refreshments.

Nearest the stage is a sign-up list for those looking to sing. The music database is massive, so pretty much any song is offered (however, there are signs warning against selections that may not be appropriate for all audiences, even if no one will be closely monitoring).

[ Hey, consider him more of a... prop. At the wink, he feints surprise and looks out to the audience, waving his hand and mouthing "hot" to everyone gathered. Brittany might not strictly be his type, but he knows a person that's capable of a good time and she's certainly that. ]

[Johnny, meanwhile was her type. There were very few who weren't.]

[But she wasn't looking for a type right then. She was just looking for a good time.]

[♫]I've had a knack from way back[♫]
[♫]Of breaking the rules once I learned the game[♫]
[♫]Get out, life's too quick; I know someplace sick[♫]
[♫]Where this chick'll dance in the flames~[♫]

[She started moving her hips a little more, spinning around on stage with all the control of a seasoned dancer. Every step completely spontaneous and unpredictable and perfectly in synch with the music.]

[ He's just looking to show everyone else a good time — he's part of the class presenting this project, after all — so he steps aside to give Brittany the floor and starts the crowd clapping in time with the music. At least the energy in the room seems pretty decent with her on the stage. ]

[That was all she wanted, really.]

[When the song ended, on precisely the exact note such a genre would expect, Brittany threw her head around in one last dramatic jerk. Her hair went in every which direction, and she hastily pushed and pulled it out of the way as she relished in the subsequent applause.]

[Taking her appropriate bows, she replaced the mike and hopped off the stage, back towards her costar of the moment.]

Thanks for the backup.

[ Uh oh, cue the awkward. Blake laughs, nods, proceeds to say nothing for a couple seconds... ]

Oh! Um, yeah, totally. Didn't— I didn't do nothin', not really, but I thought— [ His voice squeaks a little and he clears his throat. Brittany's kind of the epitome of cool on so many levels, not that he'd ever admit it. ]

That was really cool. Woulda joined if I knew the song, but. [ A shrug. ]

That's cool. It was meant to be a solo, anyway.

[If she'd wanted to reenact the actual scene from the movie/musical, she would have tried to kiss him in the end. Obviously, that didn't happen.]

You wanna come sit with me for a bit?

We can watch some of the others perform while we chill.

[ If he was any kind of real host, he'd beg off the invitation, but Johnny's here to socialize in the mostly typical teenage ways, so he shrugs and nods. ]

Yeah, that's cool. You wanna drink or somethin'? There's some pop an' shit in the back.

No thanks. A soda'll be fine. Diet, if you've got.

[With that, she plopped herself down on the nearest comfortable couch. The kind where you could really sink into the cushions.

[ Fortunately for them, he knows where all the best stuff's kept (plus, he's brought some things along of his own). The diet soda's brought along in a glass with the extra still in the can, and for himself he's got something looking suspiciously like a something-and-tonic. ]

Cola's okay, right? It's diet, I guess. Here, got this, too. [ He pawns her cup and can off and then tosses a bag of pretzels into her lap before collapsing on the couch. ]

[She caught the bag with her thighs. Because of course she did.]

Thanks. That was really sweet of you.

Sure.

[ As he settles back, he rests his drink on his leg and sinks in a little bit. Someone's already crooning away after Brit's performance so he has to raise his voice to talk to her. ]

You helped do that haunted house thing, right? That was pretty cool.

[Popping open the bag of pretzels, she nodded happily as she took one out.]

Yeah. How'd you know?

You've got— [ He gestures to the dark makeup from her earlier dealio. ] What were you, a ghost or somethin'?

[Not knowing what he was initially referring to, one hand rose up to touch at her temple. When it came away with a thin sheet of black, she realized.]

Oh! That,

No, not a ghost. I was the Bride of FrankenZombie.

[...just go with it.]

[ No problem there. Johnny nods, quirky little grin on his face. ]

Cool. You're, uh. You goin' to the dance later? You oughta consider it the way you dance...

[As he asked, she threw a small handful of the bite-sized treats into her mouth. Mmm. Salty.]

Uh-huh. [Like it wasn't even a question. She took a moment to swallow properly before adding:] I totally love parties. Got my dress like three weeks ago and everything.

Prepared. Like a girl scout or somethin'. [ He reaches out and takes a pretzel. ]

You goin' with one of these losers? [ Johnny gestures around the room and then takes a drink of his mixed-whatever. ]

No.

Are you?

Nope. I'm just gonna... show up. Why not, right?

Oh, totally.

I love showing up. And whenever I show up by myself, I'm available. And when I'm available, I can have more dance partners during the night. It's a win-win.

Save a dance for me? Wouldn't mind bumpin' round with you a bit out there.

[She lightly bumped her shoulder against his. Teasingly. Friendly, nothing more. Brittany might have had a reputation as a bit of a flirt at times--and her stage performances probably didn't help--but she wasn't that bad. It would take more than a bad of pretzels and a can of soda.]

I think I can squeeze you in, sure.

You're...Johnny, right?

[ Hey, he's just chill. He doesn't really need to pressure anyone to get that kind of attention, so it doesn't even occur to him that Brittany might operating under any specific notions.

Smiling, he nibbles on his stolen pretzel and nods somewhat enthusiastically. ]

And you're Brittany. You sing real good, too.

You've heard of me.

[The thought pleased her. She wasn't famous. Not yet. But she did have something of a reputation. For all the right reasons, even.]

Just wait until you see me dance.

[Dance-dance, even. Not just the limited display she'd put up for karaoke's sake.]

[ He makes it a point to know about the people around him. That's good business, right? ]

Can't wait. I'll see you then, right? Not gonna change your mind when I get there? 'Cause that'd be mean and— and I don't think you're mean, I think you're pretty nice.

[ Honestly, he's not that worried, he just likes to give people a hard time. ]
