Karaoke Lounge (2-3)
Who: Class 2-3 & YOU!
Where: The Karaoke Room
When: July 15th - July 16th, 2014
Rating: PG-13 to be safe
Summary: Class 2-3 has decided to create an awesome karaoke lounge for their class project!
The Story:

Karaoke Sample Song List
Presented by 2-3, this chic and semi-intimate karaoke lounge is heralded as the perfect get-away for those students and visitors looking to burn a little energy dancing and singing. Despite how it might first appear, the room boasts a deceptively large space, plenty of seating, and basic refreshments.
Nearest the stage is a sign-up list for those looking to sing. The music database is massive, so pretty much any song is offered (however, there are signs warning against selections that may not be appropriate for all audiences, even if no one will be closely monitoring).
[[ OOC: Prose or action spam is totally fine. Start your own headers, link your own songs, dance around in all the threads, and have a great time!
P.S. Don't forget your content warnings where necessary!
P.P.S. Hopefully this is okay with everyone in class 2-3. Please PM me here if you need me to add/change/remove something/etc.]]

Natasha | OTA
Let's just say on a list of things she could possibly want to spend her day doing, that did not even remotely make the list.
But she did want to go to the dance, so participation was sort of required and she was maybe hoping that if she worked hard enough at helping set up and tear down, no one would complain if she made herself scarce during the actual hours they were running the lounge.
That was her brilliant plan, anyway. It didn't quite work out the way she'd hoped...
[[OOC: Feel free to catch her at any point during the event and you're welcome to reply with prose or action spam. As a warning, she's going to try to make herself scarce when people are singing, but events and people keep conspiring against her otherwise, so she may be a little disgruntled depending on what's going on in the background XD]]

"What's this, then? Don't tell me you're planning on hanging about on the fringes all night, Natasha. What will it take for you to do a song with me, hmm?"

The Doctor | Open
He was really loving this, and he kept bouncing around from one person to another, chatting them up in between trying to convince them to get up and sing something. And not necessarily with him, although he was willing to do that, too.
Who said that running this joint had to be like work? Certainly not him. By all appearances, he was thoroughly enjoying himself, and he hoped everyone else was too.
[ ooc: For event purposes, the Doctor is going by the name John Smith, with the actual title of the Doctor being his nickname. He'll answer to either name, of course. ]

He peeked his head inside, seeing all the colorful lights and hearing the music blaring. Why couldn't they have a permanent karaoke lounge on campus? That would be kind of amazing. He sneaked inside, looking around the room to see if he could find the Doctor anywhere. If he weren't here, he might be browsing at another class's exhibit.

Billy (Open)
(PossiblyMad)
Loki, grinning like the Cheshire Cat, nudged Billy in the side with his elbow. "Look at that. You're next up. I didn't know you liked Karaoke." As if he hadn't signed Billy up himself. "Brave of you. I never would have guessed you had a confident singing voice."

"Hi," he said with a smile. "I didn't know that you were into singing."

Annabeth | OTA
Chances are she'll stop by where anyone has decided to sit, just checking in to see if they're having fun, making sure they have their names on the sign-up sheet. If not she'll be standing off near the side- clipboard in hand- just going over anything she could find to go over. There's always something for her to be checking on, after all.
no subject
But it is his class' activity, and Will is moderately interested in watching students embarrass themselves in the name of human behavioral study. It's a bonus that he finds class 2-3 activities queen bee Annabeth in one of the corners, inviting himself to sit next to her, soda in hand.

This? This wasn't. She'd suffered through two hours of various pop songs so far and was desperately wishing for earplugs. Or maybe an emergency fire drill.
Deciding to save the drastic measures until they were absolutely necessary, she was instead keeping an eye on her classmates and edging slowly towards the door in a manner she hoped wouldn't be noticed. Maybe she could make her escape while no one was paying attention and the first year caterwauling up on stage provided ample

Angel | OTA
The result, however, is the same, no matter how it happened: he's willing to step up and take a bullet to get things rolling.
He moves stiffly as he makes his way to the prompter, holding onto the microphone just a little too tightly as undeniably dated strains of synthesized music start pouring out of the speakers.
What is about to take place is quite possibly one of the most awkward performances ever witnessed.
I'd drive a million miles to be with you tonight,
So if you're feeling low, turn up your radio,
The words we use are strong, they make reality,
But now the music's on, oh baby d-dance with me-
He manages to fumble over half the lyrics, getting tongue-tied as he struggles his way through both off-key and off-beat, accompanied by stiff and sudden movements that are not so much dancing as they are anxious shuffling, but as the song goes on, he starts to commit. He dedicates himself.
And it is truly terrible.
Rip it up, move down,
Rip it up, move it down to the ground,
Rip it up, cool down,
Rip it up, don't hang it on the borderline
Everybody have fun tonight,
Everybody have fun tonight,
Everybody Wang Chung tonight,
Everybody have fun tonight--
It's a very painful four minutes for anyone who manages to sit through the entire thing, but once the music finally stops, he manages to stand there for another five seconds or so without moving -- then finally fumbles with the microphone enough to get it back into its stand, though not without dropping it once, looking only mildly remorseful as he makes his way to one of nearest seats.
As icebreakers go, there are probably worse. Maybe.

It...it isn't the most polished singing she's ever heard before (to put it politely), but he's trying very hard and clearly doing his best, and that's what matters in the end. When he finishes, she applauds, making a whole two people unironically clapping so far.
Once he makes his way back to the audience, she makes her way over to him and sits by his side.
"Hi, Angel!" she says, smiling bright as always. "You did really well!"

Natasha's perched in the back of the room where she'd been helping to double-check and organize their music selection, with the hope that maybe with that accomplished she could slip away before the singing started, but no. Fate hated her today. As it was, she's stuck here resisting the urge to bang her head against the table through all four minutes of his captivating performance.
Suddenly catching the plague was sounding more appealing every minute, although Natasha's not mean enough to let any of her thoughts show on her face.
Much.Besides, it's not Angel personally, it's the karaoke in general.(no subject)

"So is karoke your thing?" She asks with a teasing look. His fumbling with the lyrics had been pretty funny, but she wasn't laughing at him. It looked like fun. "Wanna do a duet or something? We can go all 'We Built This City' in here."

But he was asked to, so that's that.
He shirked the uniform the committee suggested hosts wear the least beat-up white button down and blue-at-the-knees dress pants in his closet. The lectern out in front of the
classroomlounge door was replete with flyers and the schedule of bookings so far, Will enthusiastically mumbling advertisements while passing said flyers out and really wishing he was the type to forget about duty completely and bail. The flyers made a fair pillow when he let his forehead come to rest on them, sighing deeply.

classroomlounge for a breath of fresh air and at least a little distance from the artistic expression of their classmates.Of course, she moves fairly silently even when there isn't a rock song muffling her movements, so she probably should have given warning before she thuds her forehead against his shoulder in commiseration.
"Dear god, someone put me out of my misery."

[She might not have been as shy as one might first suspect on sight, but there was no godly force on this or any other Earth that would get her up on that stage. Hazel was perfectly content to sitting in the back of the room, feet propped up on the table and munching on a bag of popcorn.]
[Which, for the record, she would be more than happy to share with anybody who asked.]

[The funny thing was that Brittany's makeup from the haunted house was still half done. No pale face or drooping blood, but her eye makeup was incredibly heavy, accenting her features all the more as the opening chords of a karaoke favorite vibrated into the air with a surprisingly intense bassline for school equipment.]

Samandriel | ota!
Hanging back, he can be found just watching those who choose to sign up, get on stage and sing, but he has no plans on joining them. That sounds nothing short of embarrassing, and if he's got to be here, he's going to want it to not end in everyone laughing at him. He's already the strangely formal kid, he doesn't need to be the one who was terrible at karaoke, too.
But he'll applaud everyone. Everyone. No matter how bad or how good they are. He's nice that way, even if his ears start to ache before the night is even halfway over.]

Oh, Jack is in his element. Love songs, jaunty quick tunes and anything else is likely to come out of him depending on who was watching. It all for fun in his mind, and he's trying not to embarrass anyone. The problem is that there's very little Jack doesn't find attractive. The way an unlovely person smiles when truly amused can do it for him or how someone brushes a lock of hair from their eyes.
Starting up 'Night and Day', Jack was having the time of his life.
no subject
Simply put, as handsome as Jack might be, the words cheesy come to mind when watching him singing. But once he's finished, the Doctor claps once or twice, just to be an obliging audience.
"Nice tone you've got there, Jack. Why didn't you tell me you could sing?"
Not that he cares one way or another, because what he does in his spare time is very much his business.
