Karaoke Lounge (2-3)

Who: Class 2-3 & YOU!
Where: The Karaoke Room
When: July 15th - July 16th, 2014
Rating: PG-13 to be safe
Summary: Class 2-3 has decided to create an awesome karaoke lounge for their class project!
The Story:
Sweet Karaoke Lounge

Karaoke Sample Song List

Presented by 2-3, this chic and semi-intimate karaoke lounge is heralded as the perfect get-away for those students and visitors looking to burn a little energy dancing and singing. Despite how it might first appear, the room boasts a deceptively large space, plenty of seating, and basic refreshments.

Nearest the stage is a sign-up list for those looking to sing. The music database is massive, so pretty much any song is offered (however, there are signs warning against selections that may not be appropriate for all audiences, even if no one will be closely monitoring).

[[ OOC: Prose or action spam is totally fine. Start your own headers, link your own songs, dance around in all the threads, and have a great time!

P.S. Don't forget your content warnings where necessary!

P.P.S. Hopefully this is okay with everyone in class 2-3. Please PM me here if you need me to add/change/remove something/etc.]]

Performing.

Oh, Jack is in his element. Love songs, jaunty quick tunes and anything else is likely to come out of him depending on who was watching. It all for fun in his mind, and he's trying not to embarrass anyone. The problem is that there's very little Jack doesn't find attractive. The way an unlovely person smiles when truly amused can do it for him or how someone brushes a lock of hair from their eyes.

Starting up 'Night and Day', Jack was having the time of his life.

Somewhere in the room, while Jack is doing his singing, the Doctor, or John, or whatever name he's going by at the moment, is doing his level best not to laugh his head off.

Simply put, as handsome as Jack might be, the words cheesy come to mind when watching him singing. But once he's finished, the Doctor claps once or twice, just to be an obliging audience.

"Nice tone you've got there, Jack. Why didn't you tell me you could sing?"

Not that he cares one way or another, because what he does in his spare time is very much his business.

Jack was more than capable of laughing at himself just as easily as someone else could. While John may not give a giggle, Jack himself does as he finishes with a big flourish.

"You never asked. My parents insisted I take voice lessons. When I was small, I used to mumble a lot. They thought it would make me able to project better."

Sliding off the stage, Jack was quick to go to John. Why? Damned if he knew. There was just something about John that set off a following instinct in him, wide smile in place. Jack might flirt and tease everyone but John never failed to make his heart go pitter-pat.

"What about you? Want to give it a try? There's a wide selection of music programmed in there."

"Well, no, but more importantly, I'm surprised you went along with it." Jack's never really seemed too much like the obliging sort. Well, at least, not when it comes to forced singing lessons.

But just as Jack didn't know why he went over to John, he didn't know what had made him go over there to listen either. But likewise, there was just something about him.

"Why don't you tell me? I've never had a singing lesson in my life, so I'm bound to be rubbish. As much rubbish as I can be, anyway."

"I figured it would be a good way to charm someone later."

'Shameless' was a great way to describe Jack. If he liked something, he said it. He liked John, and he liked the company of other people. Little wonder he was always the subject of some bit of amorous gossip or another. Only with John was it real, the odd boy's words meaning something then nodded to and dismissed.

"You never asked. So I never told. But it doesn't matter. Come on. I'll help!" Because Jack was determined he'd get to hear John at least try a few notes.

"Really, is that the first thing you thought of? Why am I not surprised, Jack?"

No, really, 'shameless' is the perfect word for him. And, well, just saying things isn't a bad thing. In fact, it's something John could benefit from doing. But he's working on being more expressive, especially where potential dates are concerned.

"You, help?" He arches an eyebrow, not bothering to hide his skepticism. "Alright, then, pick a song, and make it a good one."

"Of course it was. Always worked before."

Jack lacked any sort of understanding why people limited themselves to one person. Probably came from his movie star parents and the wild parties that local stories said they threw. In truth, Jack felt there was nothing wrong with loving as many people as he could. They were happy and he was happy.

A few taps of the keys and buttons brought the opening strains of Simple Mind's Don't You Forget About Me' up.

"All right, so take a deep breath and relax. Don't try to sing it the first time through. Just listen to the rhythm and flow of the music. Sway a little with it. Start placing the words with the music in your head and imagine how it sounds. Make sense?"

And if John couldn't get how to sway to the music right, Jack was all too willing to help out.

"I can't believe I'm actually letting you talk me into this." Because as far as he was concerned, he had a voice like a frog, and no one in their right mind would want to hear it. But Jack was a persuasive bloke, and honestly, John did have a bit of an adventurous streak.

Singing might not actually be an adventure, but it was something different, and well, it was rather easy for him to toss aside his misgivings, or at least push them down.

"Makes sense, yeah," he said as he went along with Jack's words, listening closely to the timing of the song and moving back and forth a bit in time with the strains, his movements becoming freer the longer he went on.

"John, if anyone can talk someone into anything, it's me. Trust in Captain Jack, and all will be well with the universe."

Of course, 'Captain Jack' was also taking this opportunity to sidle up as close to John Smith as he could. It was to help him sway to the music right! Really!

"Close your eyes. Feel it."

He was almost up against John's back, a hand reaching out to try and rest lightly against John's hip if he allowed it. Dancing with John was an old fantasy of his. He had no idea why he liked the skinny geeky kid, but he did. Even his dreams ended up invaded by him.

"When you're ready, give it a try."

"Sorry, but I think the universe is more likely to implode if I do that, Captain Jack." But he was grinning and there was definitely a devilish twinkle in his eye as he watched Jack sidle up to him.

"Oh, I think I'm definitely feeling it, thanks."

Why he was allowing this, the closeness and Jack's hand on his hip, he wasn't sure, but it felt right, in some strange and very bizarre way. It was just like the feeling he got whenever Jack talked to him; surely there were others he could talk to, but it seemed that more often than not, the two of them wound up flapping their lips about one thing or another.

But, either way, he decided he was about ready to try this out, so, feeling slightly foolish, he started really getting into the whole 'swaying to the music' thing.

The key was trying not to think about how stupid he must look right about now.
