Summary: Kaneki's Mirror is hungry.
The Story:
After crossing over, Kaneki's Mirror spends his time wandering the Mansion and the grounds, searching for the sword without bothering to study the riddle. If it's where he looks, great. If not, maybe there will be a person there instead. That would be much better than finding the sword.

It isn't that he isn't looking for the sword or that he's anything but loyal to the Queen. That's not it at all. It's just that Kaneki's Mirror is so so hungry and he has no qualms preying on anyone from either side of the mirror. They'll come back to life on this side of the glass, right? So there's no problem.

Dylas grits his teeth. It's a slightly more attractive offer and he's not sure how much longer he can fight.

"I taste terrible." A half-remembered conversation with Leon floats through his mind and he turns crimson. He cups a hand hastily over his mouth. "Not that I've tried!"

(The narration will not confirm or deny whether or not he did try anything that could be considering tasting himself.)

"But, uh, how would that work?" Was getting off that topic really worth asking how he'd hypothetically be eaten but not killed?

Absolutely.

Kaneki tilts his head, for a moment distracted by Dylas's half-confession of...something?

"...."

No, he's not going to touch that. He shakes his head; he doesn't want to know.

"I'd just take a bite."

Leon, Dylas decides, is the literal worst. He never would have even known about - well, about a lot of things, actually, but - he stamps down on the train of thought, hard, just like he'd like to stamp on Leon now.

Back to the less terrifying subject of being eaten!

"Would that be enough to stop you attacking other people?" he asks, though he's hardly in a position to negotiate right now. For starters, all Kaneki would have to do is ask the right questions and he'd probably shove his fist in his mouth just to make it stop. Or maybe not his fist, on second thoughts. He needs those for fishing. But there's that leverage, on top of the fact that he's already wounded.

Kaneki shrugs. "I won't promise that. But I won't kill you."

He's already rolling up his left sleeve when Kaneki answers. It's far from ideal but it might be his best chance for survival. He holds out his arm.

"Snap a tendon and I'll electrocute you," he warns.

[kuitai]

A smile twists Kaneki's mouth and he draws closer. His kagune moves faster than normal humans could probably follow, just a sound in the air, but when it retracts, it drops a long strip of flesh from Dylas's upper arm into Kaneki's hand.

"See? Nice and clean. Just a flesh wound."

To punctuate his statement, he brings the chunk of meat to his face and takes a bite, ripping at it to get it apart.

The pain isn't so bad, but seeing someone eat his flesh turns Dylas's stomach. He can't repress a shudder in his tail and the carrot from earlier threatens to make an encore all over the floor.

"Happy now?" he snorts.

[kuitai]

"Yes." Kaneki swallows the last of his meal and licks blood from his fingers. "Do you want help to get medical attention?"

Dylas just stares at Kaneki. This isn't how he would expect someone to act after eating flesh.

"Why would you offer to help like that?" he asks, suspicious of the other guy's motivations. "Is the infirmary like a buffet to you or something?"

Not that he's sure if there is an an infirmary. Someone on the little screen thing said something about a clinic, but he doesn't remember them saying where it was.

"Because you're going to bleed to death if I don't."

Kaneki did promise not to kill Dylas after all.

"Oh. Well, fine," he says, gracious as ever. "Lead the way."

[kuitai]

Kaneki withdraws his kagune and it disappears into his back as though its melting.

"See? I won't hurt you."

Of course, he doesn't need his kagune to hurt someone, so it's largely a symbolic gesture.

He goes over to help Dylas up. "First floor is the clinic, right?"

He stubbornly gets up without assistance, even though it makes him wince.

"You think if I knew that I'd be relying on you to take me there?" he asks. This is possibly not the best welcome week anyone has had in Wonderland.

[kuitai]

Kaneki shrugs at Dylas's refusal to let him help, though he keeps an eye on him in case he can't stay upright on his own.

"You might want to. What if you collapse from blood loss on the way?"
