Summary: Kaneki's Mirror is hungry.
The Story:
After crossing over, Kaneki's Mirror spends his time wandering the Mansion and the grounds, searching for the sword without bothering to study the riddle. If it's where he looks, great. If not, maybe there will be a person there instead. That would be much better than finding the sword.

It isn't that he isn't looking for the sword or that he's anything but loyal to the Queen. That's not it at all. It's just that Kaneki's Mirror is so so hungry and he has no qualms preying on anyone from either side of the mirror. They'll come back to life on this side of the glass, right? So there's no problem.

There's probably a reason the transformation didn't form fully. Subconsciously, as the shift hit, a part of Eren must have known his environment wasn't suited for him and adapted to the need. But like this, the form can't hold for long.

Making the best of the time it has left, the titan continues to lash out, single-mindedly trying to reach for Kaneki. The more it thrashes about, the more bits of debris from the ceiling above begin to fall -- situation made all the worse by its ground-shaking, blood-thirsty cries that vibrate through the floor and walls. The part of the beast that one can confidently call 'Eren' is quickly losing control.

It's becoming clear to Kaneki that this situation can't come out well for him. Every scenario he runs through mentally ends, at best, with him just barely alive. None of the fights in his memory stand up to this.

Glancing over his shoulder, he decides that this is a lost cause. He got what he wanted from Eren and he's already used most of it up fighting him after he should have been out of commission. This isn't worth dying for, even if he will revive on this side of the mirrors.

With his decision made, Kaneki turns and sprints further into the hallways of the basement, hoping that the titan is too big and too ill-formed to pursue him.
