[ Remus isn't sure whether he's glad Malia is here or embarrassed that she's seeing him like this. To be fair, when he'd gotten dressed, he thought he looked fine. It's only now he's here that he feels uncomfortable. But he smiles sheepishly at Malia all the same. ]

Hey, I was told to dress nice. Where I'm from, this is nice.

[snarly]

( she can't help but smile at him, though. he's just so cute. she tucks a wild hair behind her ear. )

My friend Lydia could help you update your wardrobe sometime. But the color makes your eyes look really bright, at least.

[wer]

Does it? [ He silently thanks the closets for apparently having better fashion sense than he does. ]

You, on the other hand, look amazing.

[snarly]

Yeah, I really like it on you. ( then she smiles and looks down at herself, then back up at him. usually she's pretty unabashed and confident about herself, because she doesn't have many inhibitions. but being super girly makes her feel weirdly naked and exposed in a way that being actually naked and exposed somehow doesn't, and her cheeks pink. )

I can't take any credit for it. It was all Lydia. Even the hair.

Then I'll have to thank Lydia. [ He reaches out a hand to touch a strand of hair, his fingers playing with the soft waves. ] Because it really does look fantastic.

[ Then he realizes how forward he's being and quickly retracts his hand, blushing some himself. ]

[snarly]

( malia laughs. ) I'm sure you'll meet her at some point, she always makes her presence known at her parties. Or, so I've heard. I've never actually been to one. ( she just knows lydia has a reputation as the Best Parties in Beacon Hills girl. her eyes dart to his fingers, the way they touch her hair, and her stomach tenses. his admiration of her reminds her briefly of stiles and while it's not a bad thing, because she likes him, it also makes her a little bit sad. she doesn't show it, though. she just smiles. ) So.

Wanna dance?

[wer]

Me? Dancing? [ Remus looks around uncertainly. ] I suppose, if you don't mind me stomping on your feet every other turn.

[ But he'll do the gentlemanly thing and offer her his hand to lead her to the dance floor. ]

[snarly]

I'm not really talking about fancy dancing - I'm not sure how to do that. Maybe we dance differently where I'm from than you do.

( she's not worried about him stomping on her feet because what is ballroom dancing she's just going to wiggle her butt at you when the songs are fast and sway when they're slow...

still, she goes with him quite happily, and he manages to take her mind off of everything else for a little while. there's just her, and him, and the music. occasionally he blunders and she can't stifle her giggles, but overall... he's not as bad as he thought he was. )

You're not horrible at this.

[ Considering the sort of dancing he's used to has steps and partners, he's doing fairly well just improvising, moving to the rhythm of the music and trying not to step on Malia's feet. Whenever she giggles, however, he blushes and laughs as well. ]

Am I not? I'm afraid I have no idea what I'm doing.

[snarly]

( his smile is pretty infectious. when he lets himself relax and have a good time, which she feels like he does a lot more now than he did when she first met him, he's like a ball of sunshine. malia likes being around him because he smells like books and warmth. sunlight. and fun. and home. sometimes she gets a woodsy outdoorsy smell off of him. earthy. and she loves it.

she grins and sways just a little closer with her hips. )

Everybody's gotta start somewhere.

I suppose this is as good a place to start as any.

[ He looks down when her hips come closer, and he sort of... moves his arms like he's not sure whether he's supposed to/allowed to touch her. Then he just sort of gives in an does an awkward dance move. ]

( malia... just... at first he's closer and it's all very good and cute and then - what the fuck is he doing? JUDGING HIM... )

Uh -- ( then she grabs his wrists, gets nice and close to him, and places his hands right at the back of her waist, resting ... well. inches above her butt, really. ) Like this.

[ Oh. Oh, right. Okay. They're touching. Remus can... do touching. ] Alright. [ His smile is sheepish and nervous, but he does his best to follow Malia's directions and not think too much about the... touching. ]
