That should be over- ( Lydia turns, pointing to next to where one of the tables was on the back wall ) -there. Just next to it.
( Things were going smoothly, thankfully. Everything should be set up pretty quickly and it should go well ready for the party later. Maybe she'd even thank her help with dances )
oops got my dates mixed up
Honestly, though? They've had worse ideas. Steve is right: they deserve whatever happiness they can have here, for as long as it'll last.
For the moment, they've split off to deal with their separate obligations. Bucky volunteered to help a while back, and he isn't about to just blow it off because he wants to kiss Steve's dumb face some more. He has to admit, this isn't what he expected, even knowing Lydia. Seems a little elaborate for a birthday party. Or a wedding. Or crowning the next Queen of England. Lydia is really not cutting any corners here.
He can't deny that it does look really good, and it's not like they don't have plenty of resources to spare around here. ]
You do this a lot back home, Lydia?

( Technically both go together, or sometimes. If the party is just at her house there's never any elaborate decorating going on, only anything like this. She doesn't do things on this scale so often - just her birthdays. They haven't let her in on the school dances yet, sadly )
Enough to know what I'm doing.
( pre-party | dressing )
Trust me. You'll be fine.
( She'd already pulled the item out of the closet, and she'd pull another one out if she absolutely had to. If you asked her she'd gotten it perfect on the first go but apparently not everyone wanted to believe her )

You sure? That looks... dressier than I thought we were going for.

( Don't make her come back there even if you are half undressed. She'll do it )

( And she's proud of that, Malia - you're learning. You'll be a girl one day soon )
Waves or up?

Waves. I like it when I can feel my hair on my shoulders. ( lydia, she loves you. really. )

Lydia had pulled from the closet a cute dress and had let hair wave around her. She's busy throughout the night, moving between the punch, dance floor, talking to friends and thanking the people that had helped set this up. It's turned out better than she could expect so far and she's pleased.
Thrilled. She's in a fantastic mood, and anyone that pops through the door (when she isn't with someone else) might even be thanked for coming and told to enjoy themselves )
Sometime later in the eveninggggg
Either way, Caroline makes her way inside the ballroom, eyes scanning the beautiful, grand surroundings, lips pursing in approval at the tasteful decorations. Still dressed in the same bright sundress she arrived in, Caroline's pleased she isn't completely violating the established dress code, even if she's still a little bit on the casual side.
Soon enough, though, admiring the party has stopped doing much for her rather somber mood, and Caroline quickly spots Lydia and deduces that either Lydia's in charge or at least knows who is.
She'll approach with a quiet smile and gently tap her on the shoulder.] Hi. Hey. You wouldn't happen to know if there's a hidden stash of very strong alcohol around here somewhere, would you?
no subject
( Sure half of the people at this party were underage but when there were closets and a celebration? This place didn't play by the rules and what rules were here, really? )
You must be new. ( To have to ask about getting alcohol? Definitely ) But you've come to the right place anyway. Come on.
( Lydia steps away from the girl, giving her a smile as she steps through the room to the back where the drinks table is. She's getting both of them a glass of punch )

[As if to assure her this is not her natural state, she explains.] It's been a day.
[Caroline follows Lydia, and when she sees the punch she sighs happily, holding out a hand to take her glass when it's offered.]
Okay, cute dress, tasteful decorations, alcoholic punch, you're officially my favorite person for like, at least the next hour. [She half-teases. But she's extremely genuine in her gratitude.]
Thanks.

[Scott-Billy-Lydia]
Into the ball room they go after much convincing from Scott.]
Lydia's one of my friends from back home. She'll be the amazing redhead in probably the most expensive-looking dress in the room. If we were back home, it'd be her birthday soon. And she's known for throwing the best parties in Beacon Hills though, so yeah.
Re: [Scott-Billy-Lydia]
She sounds like Kate. Kate's parties are pretty awesome too. Though I never really went to any parties in high school.

( Lydia had spotted Scott once he'd walked in, going over to him rather than waiting for him to find her. It wasn't that busy yet but Lydia was busy )
Scott. Who did you bring?
( She said open invite, she just wants to know who she's partying with )

OTA
She's prepared to deflect any complaints or criticism that her companion might be prepared to barrage her with; Hayley may consider herself to be above attending a teenage party, but Rebekah isn't. A party is a party, and she's privately desperate to rectify as many missed opportunities and experiences as she possibly can. Here, she feels, she's in her element, and she immediately makes her way over to get a drink -- though her hope is that before the evening is over, she'll have some young man fetching drinks for her instead.]
Chin up, Hayley. Once you've a few drinks in you, you'll feel better.
[About the party, about their being stuck here, about everything. She'll take even a little bit of improvement as a win. Rebekah herself will be game for socializing throughout the evening, making every effort to be winsome -- she showed up in Wonderland with a black cloud hanging over her head, and she's intent on correcting that first impression.]

[ Hayley's tone is dry as she lets her gaze wander about the room, taking in her surroundings with a skeptical look. Begrudging is definitely the word for her mood, although Rebekah had managed to get her into something that was mostly appropriately dressed, even if she's looking less than thrilled to be here in heels.
Or to be here at all, for that matter. She feels strange coming to a teenager's party, considering she'd skipped this whole awkward social stage and hadn't really regretted it either. But she wasn't about to let Rebekah go alone, especially when she'd seemed so excited about it.
Something she's second-guessing right about now. ]
Why am I here again?
no subject
( Someone that Lydia's debating on whether or not she likes. Party attitude yes, other attitude... hmm )
And I think there's probably enough alcohol in Wonderland that that could be accomplished.
( Because yes, she'd heard the girl's complaint as she'd walked in, getting back ready to circle near the door already )
I'm Lydia, and you both need a drink.

she's dressed in an outfit that lydia grabbed from the closet for her. she feels weird wearing a dress without any pants or anything underneath it. she's more of a casual sort of girl; skirts aren't much her thing. but it's a semi-formal event, kind of, and she hears dresses are expected. her hair tumbles down around her shoulders, curled loosely but down. the semi-wild look she has suits her.
she catches sight of remus and her face screws up immediately. what in the name of god is he wearing? she wrinkles her nose as she approaches, but the corners of her mouth twitch upward. it's funny how weirdly out of place he looks. )
Do I even wanna ask?

Hey, I was told to dress nice. Where I'm from, this is nice.

( Lydia isn't actually entirely certain what she thinks of what he's wearing, other than it's certainly odd in comparison to her idea of formal wear. Okay, maybe with different worlds there'd probably been some weird miscommunication things but he definitely tried so points for effort )

[ Maybe he'll take up Malia's offer of having Lydia update his wardrobe. He's clearly stuck in another era of fashion. ]
