( lydia is the actual best at hair and if it weren't for her malia would go for a.) ponytail b.) bedhead on the daily, let's be real. there's a moment of actual gratitude and a smile flashes over her features. she's hit with a wave of being overwhelmingly just glad that lydia is here. she wishes kira were, too, but lydia is such a huge part of her life anymore that she just... is really happy. awkwardly, because malia can't emotions, she stumbles over verbal expression of the same. )

I'm really happy you're back. And that you remember stuff. And that we're friends.

But for everything that they've had to experience to get to this point Lydia actually likes Malia as a friend, and even if she has to be here it's nice having her around )

Me too. I can't remember the last time I got invited to a birthday party. ( there's no sadness to her tone, but it's kind of a sad fact. she definitely can't remember. she was probably six or seven. that was a long, long time ago for her. there's a lot of bad memory space she's blocked out, and good went right with it. )

Then we'll fix that. Even if it's not a birthday party there's time for other parties here.

( Beacon Hills only parties or parties for all, and definitely one for Malia's birthday. It'll be the best party she's ever had because Lydia's planning it )
