[ open ] event shenanigans
Who: Elijah Mikaelson and you!
Where: Fourth floor
When: The Event
Rating: PG-13
Summary: The fourth floor gets a little darker than usual and Elijah sticks around too long trying to locate his brother.
The Story: Staying on the fourth floor is probably ill advised once he gets a good hard look at what's before him. The hallways no longer have the familiar feel to them. Everything from the hallways to the rooms seems to have mutated itself into a rather rundown hospital. Elijah's been in his fair share of broken down buildings, but this one seems to be standing on it's last leg. It almost seems unsafe to travel the hallways, but he's got very little choice in the matter.
The banging is impossible to ignore. The closer Elijah gets though just means that it gets further and further away from him. Which makes him even more uncomfortable. He remains though. The cries make him feel incredibly uneasy, but he can't leave. He's not responsible for their safety, but he's also not sure he can just leave them behind. Elijah inspects each room slowly and thoroughly. He keeps an eye out for Niklaus as well. Rebekah resides on the second floor which will be his next stop, but him and Niklaus both occupy the fourth floor.
Perhaps it's foolish to hunt for Niklaus. He's probably long gone, but Elijah stays. It's easy for Elijah to ignore the pain at first. He shuts it out, but eventually even that becomes difficult. Often he stumbles the length of a hallway with sweat beading down his forehead. If one encounters him before the pain starts they'll likely find a more manicured Elijah, but if it's after the pain then he's likely less talkative. Probably best not to provoke him in any shape of form.

So in the end, it has her going to the fourth floor to look for him when she can't actually get in touch. Why he would want to stay there is completely beyond her; even a Mikaelson's stubbornness shouldn't be enough to warrant it. Then again, it's not like their family hasn't exceeded Cami's expectations in regards to their pigheadedness before.
And as it turns out, they'll do so again. She hasn't been on the fourth floor long at all, so the pain hasn't set in for her just yet. It's fortunate, given that she sees Elijah faltering down the hall, Cami walking quickly to catch up to him.
"Elijah!" Whether or not it's wise, Cami shows no fear when she goes up to him. "What are you doing up here?"
no subject
He whips around suddenly when Cami says his name. Black veins come from his eyes and his fangs are bared. He snarls and it takes a moment before it finally clicks in his pain filled brain that she's not an enemy. She's human. She's someone that knows about his future. A friend of Niklaus'. Niklaus. He needs to find him. He may be a rather large pain in the ass, but he's his pain in the ass. He's not just going to leave his brother up here.
After a moment Elijah reverts back to human and presses a hand against the wall next to him. An attempt to steady himself and stay upright. "Looking for Niklaus." He swallows hard. "Have you seen him?"
no subject
“Elijah, don’t.” She cringes in anticipation of his attack, but Cami doesn’t move away. Honestly, even if she tried to run how far could she get if he chose to devour her? He could be on her in less than a breath if he chose, kill her before she could scream. But thankfully that famous restraint wins out, and instead of feeling the sharp pain of his teeth ripping into her skin, Cami opens her eyes to see a once-more composed Mikaelson.
Or at least, one as composed as he can be under the circumstances.
“Not lately, but you can’t seriously think he would have stayed up here.” Then again, Cami would have thought the same about Elijah, and look where they are.

Elijah takes an unnecessary breath and nods his head. "In all the years that I've been by Niklaus' side he's not once done the smart thing." Which includes leaving this awful place. It would be just like his little brother to stay here for some insane reason. Though the rundown appearance alone would likely put the man off and send him to a different floor. Elijah looks at Cami with a curious expression finally. "Why're you here?"
no subject
"Okay, fair point. Yes, Klaus goes for idiotic behavior more often than not, but it's not usually self-destructive to this degree." Klaus might tear down every relationship he could possibly forge, push away friends and family out of paranoia and fear, but actively staying in a place that can inflict enough pain to have Elijah crippled as he is? "I mean, if nothing else, he wouldn't make himself so vulnerable, right?"
No, Cami can't see it. Which is why her own reason for being there sounds pretty ridiculous.
"And I'm here because I hadn't seen you or him around, and I was worried. Call it being overly concerned thanks to the dead body I found a few days ago." Given that Cami's still human, she's allowed to be affected by that sort of thing. "Come on. Let's get you off the floor, and then we can blow up his phone until he answers the damn thing. Do you need to lean on me to walk?"
no subject
"He's self-destructive though. Not to mention I'm not exactly caught up to what's happened to us. I may not even know my own brother anymore." Which he knows is partially true and he worries it's completely true. He likes to believe he can anticipate his brother's foolish behavior, but it's growing more difficult. "True. Then again I believe he's already quite vulnerable with angels running wild." Which he's yet to see, but Joanna assures him they're not completely awful.
Elijah takes a moment to think over her words and nods. It's touching that she's concerned. He can't help, but wonder if this concern is misplaced. The Mikaelsons aren't exactly a warm and fuzzy family. "Thank you, Camille." Elijah grabs for Cami with one hand and the other gropes the wall to get himself up and steady without taking her down with him.

For as monstrous as she and her brothers could be, none of them quite belonged in a setting like this.
She quickly begins to make her way down the corridor, pausing outside the room she knows to be Elijah's first, knocking sharply and stifling the urge to jump when she hears banging in the distance in reply.
"Elijah?"
If there's no sign of him, then she'll simply have to seek him out, but it never hurts to start simple.
no subject
"Rebekah." He says approaching her slowly. The pain hasn't set in yet, but it's growing in the background. Eventually he'll start to feel it. He stops short. "Did you happen to see Niklaus on your way up here?" She's a few floors below them thankfully. They're both full grown adults who are just about immortal, but putting her in harms way makes him uneasy. He'd prefer she always stay somewhere safe and isolated from the action.
no subject
"Not yet," she confesses, releasing him and letting her heels drop back to the floor. "I'd planned to seek him out next-- and Kol."
Considering how strained the relationship between Kol and the rest of them had a tendency to be, she thought it was important that she extend him a bit of good faith, encourage him not to paint himself as being ousted, ignored.
"You're alright?"
no subject
He doesn't intend to exclude Kol, but things have been weird since he spoke to him after Niklaus told him the truth. A heated argument over if Elijah didn't care for him. Everything he had ever done had been in the name of this family and keeping them alive. A times that meant daggering Kol when he was completely out of control and close to luring in their father. He couldn't have it. He wouldn't put the rest of them in danger because of Kol's foolishness.
"If I know our brother it's likely he's far away from whatever this is." Kol's always been rather good at looking out for himself. He doesn't tend to stick around for them. Elijah doesn't blame him sometimes though.
Elijah presses a hand to his chest and nods his head slowly. "I'm not certain, but I believe this place wants me to vacate."
tea room bitchesssss ayyyyyyy
So when he turns around to see Elijah in the doorway he nearly spills his tea all over himself, startled. Bloody hell, this is exactly what he needs. It couldn't have been Nik or Beks... But then... perhaps he can play this to his favour. ]
Elijah, may I help you or are you simply lingering there for no reason?
[ Please tell him that he wasn't checking up on him........ okay, so maybe the thought would be a little pleasant, but no. U g h. ]

It's not difficult to track Kol down. He's not exactly subtle. He's got a new face, but he's growing used to it. He no longer seems to resemble Elijah as much as he once did. Instead when he looks at Kol he can see Niklaus. Which is strange, but with enough time he'll get used to it. Elijah tries his best not to look just a little amused by Kol being shocked by Elijah's sudden arrival. ]
I was looking for you, brother. [ He doesn't move from his spot. Instead he moves to adjust his cufflinks. ] I was worried about you.
kol is literally the worst
You know better than to worry about me.
[ It's true, Kol had been on his own for so long and utilized his cunning for it. He turns his attention into settling down in one of the more comfortable looking chairs so he can sip at the liquid caffeine; as a human he's realised how much he enjoys caffeine. Sodas, tea, coffee, it all keeps him jittery enough to sort his thoughts and plans out. ]
Actually, brother I'm quite curious about your safety, I had an interesting conversation recently. Join me? [ He lifts his tea cup with the question. ]
no subject
Perhaps I do, but that doesn't stop me from doing so.
[ There it goes again. He ignores it and chalks it up to sentimentality. ]
Brother, I'm touched. [ He actually is. Though it occurs to him that Kol may actually just being rude. ] Do share. [ He moves to make himself a cup expecting his brother to tell him about his conversation. ]

I met what I would definitely put in the top five list of pillocks I've met in me lifetime. Dean Winchester - now he mentioned something interesting, he started talking about a magical dagger after stating he didn't know our sister. That leaves you.
But I found it a bit odd - when I brought the treacherous sod up to Nik - he didn't mention anything... unless he doesn't know that such an attack took place. Tell me, Elijah, why doesn't Nik know you were attacked by this irrelevant hunter?
[ He takes a sip, stormy blues on Elijah. ]
no subject
Finally with his cup and saucer he turns to Kol. He makes his way to his chair and takes a seat next to his brother. He's quiet as he sips and swallows. His brain is desperately trying to find a way to spin this away from Dean. He made a promise to Joanna and he intended to keep it. He was a man of his word. ]
Niklaus knows about the attack. As does Rebekah, but they're both unaware Dean Winchester is the culprit. [ That's not what he intended to say. It seems the event making his living quarters into a hospital from hell extends down here as well. ] Niklaus is hot headed and I was trying to stop a war from erupting. He's got an angel on his side. An angel I was trying to keep out of our family affairs. And it was done as a favor to Joanna.
no subject
[ The younger Mikaelson's head tips to the side as he turns more in his seat to look at Elijah. A crooked grin then paints itself across his features. ] You and Cami both. [ If he hears the word war used in reference to him one more time he might have to brain someone. ] Well, there's already an angel in our family affairs - Michael. Quite friendly - if a bit lonely, but aren't we all. [ Kol hesitates, not meaning to have said that last bit... So instead he focuses on the fact that he has an angel friend neener neener neener! ] I doubt he'd let another Angel hurt us if I asked for his help.
[ But don't think he didn't notice an important part of that. ]
Who's Joanna? And why did you owe her a favour?
no subject
Hayley had wanted to know who was responsible, but Elijah told her it didn't matter. Joanna would be better suited to handle Dean than they would. Niklaus would likely take his punishment too far and wind up making himself an enemy of the angel. ] Niklaus doesn't have it. Joanna gave it to the angel she's familiar with. It seemed smarter than taking possession of it myself only to have Niklaus get his hands on it.
[ From what Elijah understands the angel's don't typically take sides. He's really not certain this Michael would come running if Kol were to call on him. Unless his little brother somehow made a fantastic impression on him. ] Joanna Harvelle. A hunter. We were paired up on a blind date months ago. I grew to fancy her quite a bit. Though it seems she has romantic intentions for a human bartender here. [ Something Elijah doesn't like to think too much about. He hadn't intended to grow so fond of her, but it seemed to be one sided at some point. Despite them having slept together when they were living fake lives in Storybrooke. ] Do enjoy torturing me, brother?
no subject
[ Michael had offered to help him a couple times now, and if the baby doe eyes didn't give it away, Kol was certain he could get Michael to side with him. He'll definitely have to test it one day... Perhaps send him after the dagger... It's a thought... But then, he didn't want to put the man in danger either... The thought puts a sour taste in his mouth that he has to wash away with a sip of tea. He's never really cared about such things before, but now he had people he wanted - no, needed to protect. ]
A hunter? You fancy a hunter... That's a bit daft seeing as you're the very thing hunters enjoy to... hunt. [ Kol is judging you, Elijah, so hard.] Torturing you? Nah, I'd consider this making you squirm more than anything. [ His gaze falls to his tea for a moment. ] Are you worried I'm going to tell our siblings? I've got no reason to.
no subject
Elijah takes a sip of his tea as his brother clarifies that this isn't about hurting him. This is about making him squirm. Exhibiting some form of power over him. Which makes Elijah believe that he's aware of whatever is making Elijah blurt out answers so freely. He's exploiting it. He thought he had made his point clear the last time he spoke with Kol that he didn't want any harm to come to him. ]
Yes. You know how Niklaus is. I love Rebekah dearly, but she's got a temper that rivals our brother's. I was trying to keep things civil here. At least until we return home. I don't think we need any pointless bloodshed.
no subject
I've got no reason to tell either of them so you may rest assured. If any bloodshed does happen it will be my doing. [ Dean had offended him and Cami had only managed to offend him more on Dean's part - seeing as he cannot kill Cami... Kol shifts again this time facing forward, only to lean back slightly and look up at the ceiling. This was actually kind of nice. Even if he was with the brother that held him down multiple times so Nik could dagger him.
He doesn't stay quiet for long, not wanting to give Elijah the chance to start grilling him over anything. ] What floor are you staying on?
no subject
Elijah stares calmly at Kol when he assures him that he doesn't intend to tell Rebekah or Niklaus about who daggered him. Elijah hadn't even told Hayley and she dug him out of the ground with the help of Joanna. He didn't want any sort of retaliation. ]
The fourth. Niklaus' room is close to mine as well. Not something I chose. His own passive aggressive way of riling me up. [ At the time it had been irritating, but he didn't mind it as much. Especially since they've made big steps in patching things up. ] Yourself?
no subject
Ah, don't you just love Nik and his god awful behaviour. [ Like Kol is one to talk... at all. ]
Across the hall from Beks. [ Next to Davina, but he doesn't add that on, there was no point, and he wanted Elijah to stay away from her, not get curious. ] I believe Nik's bird rooms rather closeby too. I see her far too often for it to be untrue.
no subject
At first having Niklaus so close had been irritating, but he's grown used to it. It's like living together again with how frequently his brother barges in like that. No self restraint really. ] I assume our sister detests that. Having her brother so close. I think with the kidnapping from our father aside she's rather enjoying Wonderland. An over abundance of clueless men for her to lure in. [ He loves his sister, but her taste is awful sometimes. ] Camille? I hope she's well. We spoke briefly upon her arrival and just recently as well.
