The Story:



The coffee shop has been set up with multiple small tables, each two chairs and a number assigned to it. Loki has, of course, gone all out. There is another, longer table with various finger-foods on it, and a variety of refreshments both alcoholic and not.

Every participant will get a sheet with the number of the table they will be going to on each round, as well as spots to fill out information about their date should they choose to do so. If a late-comer who has not signed up happens to come in... well, Loki will make it work. While participating in dates himself, of course. It is no fun just to organize.

Dates have been randomly selected by Random Pair. There will be four rounds. Each round lasts 14 tags - seven from each player. At the end of the fourteenth tag, the bell will ring to change tables.

If your character is not part of the sign ups, feel free to tag into a round with 'open' as your pairing.

There will also be a post-dating mingle, if your characters got cut off by that terrible bell.

Loki and Billy

[hashtagging]

Loki slides into the seat across from Billy after calling the first round, flashing him a cheeky grin. "Are you not glad you came now? Look at your luck: the very first date and you have a charmingly handsome partner for it."

If Billy is surprised at his first pair up he doesn't show it. "I'm not sure glad is the word I would use, since I didn't really have a choice in the matter." But he grins because he's not really all that mad. Loki had been making it a point to drag Billy out recently instead of letting him mope in his room and he appreciated it.

"Rude. I put in all this effort and you do not appreciate it at all." Loki gave a dramatic sigh, flopping back in his chair as if Billy was killing him. He was a ham by nature, but he might have to admit to playing it up even farther just because it made Billy grin more. Loki was always happy to bask in the attention.

[actualwizard]

"Oh I appreciate it, my appreciation know now bounds. Such apprciatation, much wow." Billy smirks happily at him, amused by his antics. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"

That won him a smile in return. "I have heard it mentioned once or twice. I prefer the term 'eccentric.'"

[actualwizard]

"Of course you do. That's the least surprising thing I've ever heard." Loki brings out the sass in him. "So, you have experience with this, how does this speed dating thing work? We just talk for five minutes?" Really how does this dating thing work, he has no experience with either really. It's only always been Teddy until now.

[hashtagging]

"Yes. We talk and get to know each other -" As if they did not know each other rather well. "- and decide afterwards if we would like to meet up again, this time without time limits."

Do not ask Loki, his only experience involved him being under a spell.

[actualwizard]

"So, kind of what we normally do?" As soon as the words leave his mouth he stammers because thats not at all how he meant for that to sound. "I mean, because we're friends. And thats what friends do, they meet up and hang out without time limits and not- I mean." He groans burying his face in his hands.

Laughing at Billy tripping over his words might be cruel, but Loki cannot help it. It is, dare he think it, cute.

"Yes, like we normally do. As friends. The friendliest friends."

[actualwizard]

Sure, laugh at his awkwardness.

"So you signed me up for speed friending?"

He is a great friend.

"Yes, precisely. Is it working yet?"

Teddy and Mikan

Teddy isn't really quite certain why he is here. He had only popped by the cafe for a coffee when Loki promptly appeared and pulled him into this event promising that it would be oh so much fun. Considering the past month has been less than fun, Teddy was a bit skeptical but now he is here, sitting at a table and waiting for the bell to ring.

When it does, a pretty girl sits down across from him. He figures that the 'dating' part of the event really loosely means "get to know others" and he smiles, deciding to be positive about the whole experience.

"Hi," he said, holding his hand out to her. "I'm Teddy."

[naughty_nurse]

She's pretty all right... pretty nervous. Mikan isn't sure if she'll able to make friends like this, since she has a lousy track record before. When he moves his hand toward her, she visibly winces, as if expecting to be stricken, so she gives out a timid "Eek!"

... Oh, wait, that's a handshake. That's something western people do, right? She slowly extends her hand out to take it.

"M-M-My name is... Mikan Tsumiki... i-it's nice to meet you."

Sirius and April

Sirius...doesn't quite get this. He's never had trouble with meeting people (at least, he's never noticed any trouble with it) and so this seems like an unnecessary exercise. But he can't help but smirk a little when he sits down to his first partner.

"Ah, well. Good to see you. How is your murder tally in preparation for All Hallow's Eve?"

[assistanting]

"That's a secret," April says conspiratorially, grinning, "But I'm glad you remembered." She looks down at the paper in front of her, pretending to look at the questions written on it. "So, if you could be any animal, what would you be?"

[goodwoofjames]

Sirius snorts and then, a bit surprised, glances at the questions himself. "That...really is one of them. Well, then."

He glances up at her again, not sure if she's joking and already knows, or genuinely hasn't heard or seen already. He hasn't bothered hiding it, after all, given how many people have, apparently, already read all about him. Well, more about the crazed elder version of him, but, still. The dog bits are in there.

Still uncertain, he carefully says: "Well, I suppose I have to say dog."

[assistanting]

"Well, that's good. At least your favorite isn't like a possum. That would suck, turning into something you aren't in love with." She hasn't read the books but Ben MARATHONED ALL THE MOVIES in her home. Multiple times.

[goodwoofjames]

Ah, so she does know him. And she isn't disturbed. Not that the books put him in such a bad light, but. Well. He's supposed to be dangerous regardless, right?

But maybe not yet.

He gives a bit of a smirk and nods. "True. Although that couldn't be my favorite, since I'm...not sure if I know what it is. It's like a rat, isn't it?"

So definitely not his favorite, then.

[assistanting]

"Like a big ugly rat that pretends to play dead and poops in your backyard, yeah, pretty much." Which, you know, when you think about it...

[goodwoofjames]

"Pretends to play dead?" Sirius' eyebrows shoot up, and he can't help but draw the comparison. "I. Yes. Definitely not my favorite."

He's just gonna go ahead and change the subject.

"Have you been here for one of the events that made this place look like mine? Because I have the sneaking suspicion if you were a witch you'd be a Slytherin."

And he says this in a tone that actually implies this is not the worst thing in the world. Just truth.

[assistanting]

She laughs so evilly - this is the best thing she's ever heard in her life. "I can't believe I missed it. I'd so be a Slytherin." She wishes Ben were here for this, tbh.

[goodwoofjames]

Sirius actually snorts with amusement and surprise. "Is that what you think of Slytherins? I know Snivellus gives a bad impression and most of them are pricks, but actual sinister laughter was not what I was expecting."

[assistanting]

"You got it anyway! Think of it as a gift."

Wanda and Kaneki

Kaneki is quite nervous. This isn't his normal scene, not at all, because there are people here instead of stacks of books. But he's here, and that seems like a step in the right direction. The right direction being whatever direction in which getting along with people and doing somewhat normal things lies.

He sits down across from Wanda, and forces himself not to stare at the top of the table. He's (almost) an adult. Eye contact is a thing he can do.

"Ah...hi. My name is Kaneki Ken." To which he adds the obligatory explanation: "Um, that's my family name and then my given name. But you can use either of them."
