The Story:



The coffee shop has been set up with multiple small tables, each two chairs and a number assigned to it. Loki has, of course, gone all out. There is another, longer table with various finger-foods on it, and a variety of refreshments both alcoholic and not.

Every participant will get a sheet with the number of the table they will be going to on each round, as well as spots to fill out information about their date should they choose to do so. If a late-comer who has not signed up happens to come in... well, Loki will make it work. While participating in dates himself, of course. It is no fun just to organize.


OOC
Dates have been randomly selected by Random Pair. There will be four rounds. Each round lasts 14 tags - seven from each player. At the end of the fourteenth tag, the bell will ring to change tables.

If your character is not part of the sign ups, feel free to tag into a round with 'open' as your pairing.

There will also be a post-dating mingle, if your characters got cut off by that terrible bell.

Loki and Billy

Loki slides into the seat across from Billy after calling the first round, flashing him a cheeky grin. "Are you not glad you came now? Look at your luck: the very first date and you have a charmingly handsome partner for it."

If Billy is surprised at his first pair up he doesn't show it. "I'm not sure glad is the word I would use, since I didn't really have a choice in the matter." But he grins because he's not really all that mad. Loki had been making it a point to drag Billy out recently instead of letting him mope in his room and he appreciated it.

Teddy and Mikan

Teddy isn't really quite certain why he is here. He had only popped by the cafe for a coffee when Loki promptly appeared and pulled him into this event promising that it would be oh so much fun. Considering the past month has been less than fun, Teddy was a bit skeptical but now he is here, sitting at a table and waiting for the bell to ring.

When it does, a pretty girl sits down across from him. He figures that the 'dating' part of the event really loosely means "get to know others" and he smiles, deciding to be positive about the whole experience.

"Hi," he said, holding his hand out to her. "I'm Teddy."

She's pretty all right... pretty nervous. Mikan isn't sure if she'll able to make friends like this, since she has a lousy track record before. When he moves his hand toward her, she visibly winces, as if expecting to be stricken, so she gives out a timid "Eek!"

... Oh, wait, that's a handshake. That's something western people do, right? She slowly extends her hand out to take it.

"M-M-My name is... Mikan Tsumiki... i-it's nice to meet you."

Sirius and April

Sirius...doesn't quite get this. He's never had trouble with meeting people (at least, he's never noticed any trouble with it) and so this seems like an unnecessary exercise. But he can't help but smirk a little when he sits down to his first partner.

"Ah, well. Good to see you. How is your murder tally in preparation for All Hallow's Eve?"

[assistanting]

"That's a secret," April says conspiratorially, grinning, "But I'm glad you remembered." She looks down at the paper in front of her, pretending to look at the questions written on it. "So, if you could be any animal, what would you be?"

Wanda and Kaneki

Kaneki is quite nervous. This isn't his normal scene, not at all, because there are people here instead of stacks of books. But he's here, and that seems like a step in the right direction. The right direction being whatever direction in which getting along with people and doing somewhat normal things lies.

He sits down across from Wanda, and forces himself not to stare at the top of the table. He's (almost) an adult. Eye contact is a thing he can do.

"Ah...hi. My name is Kaneki Ken." To which he adds the obligatory explanation: "Um, that's my family name and then my given name. But you can use either of them."

Loki was the organizer of this whole affair. Even more importantly, he was a God. Under no circumstances should any ten-minute date make him nervous.

Sitting down across from the alternate universe version of one of the most powerful mutants in existence, however, made him a bit uneasy. Especially due to the fact she also happened to be the mother of the guy he was a) just talking to, b) was one of the few people Loki really cared about, c) had completely and utterly screwed over on multiple occasions.

Did he mention his past self had once pretended to be her and made out with Hawkeye while he was at it? Awkward.

But he could not let all of that stop him. So he flashed her a charming smile as he settled himself down for the round. "Why hello, Ms. Maximoff. I am Loki."

Teddy and Sirius

In the shuffle between dates, Teddy had caught sight of Billy. His heart squeezed as he wanted to speak to him but Billy kept his head down, avoiding Teddy's eye contact. The bell rang once more and the musical chair dates were beginning once again. Teddy was determined not to let the swirl of sudden anxiety and guilt ruin a good opportunity. Especially since the person at the table was more his type and rather familiar.

"I keep expecting them to play 'Pop Goes the Weasel' after the bell," Teddy smiled as he sat down. "It reminds me of kindergarten with all the kids scrambling for the last seat in musical chairs."

Sirius settles into his seat with a bemused expression. "Are you telling me there is a song about popping weasels? That sounds like the sort of thing my--" He winces. He doesn't really want to talk about Regulus...well, ever, to be honest. "Er, the sort of thing a little wizard boy might do by accident. I wouldn't think it'd be a muggle thing. Or that it'd involve chairs."

He mentioned chairs, right?

Mikan and Kate

Hey, her first table hadn't been a complete disaster! Maybe there was some hope after all! She was brimming with excitement...

Except Mikan had rushed to get to this table on time, and as a result, she wound up tripping and falling into her chair into a rather comical fashion - face down, butt up, legs open. Don't even ask how a normal human can contort that way.

"... Owww..."

Kate rushes out of her chair to help poor Mikan off the floor, offering her a hand up while giving her a once over to make sure she wasn't bleeding or anything (unlikely, but it's important to be ever vigilant.)

"Oh no, are you okay? That looked like it hurt."

Loki had honestly been surprised Kaneki had wanted to come to something he had set up, considering the way they had first met. It was not an unpleasant surprise, however. Loki flopped down in the seat across from Kaneki, rocking the chair back on two legs.

"This was how I met Verity, you know."

By the third round, Teddy felt as though he was getting the hang of speed dating. The only complaint he had was that the rounds were much too short. He did enjoy getting to speak to people he had seen around the manor but hadn't had the opportunity to really get to know. One of those people he spent far too little time speaking to sat down across from him once the bell rang again.

"Hi, Darcy," Teddy said with a bright smile. "How are you? Been on any good dates?"

Mikan And Billy

Mikan vowed she would absolutely not trip this time. So she approached the table extremely slowly, scoot, scoot, scoot, and calmly sits down. Phew. So far, so good. Then she met Billy's eyes, and struggled to introduce herself properly for once.

"M-M-My name is Mikan Tsumiki... It's very nice to meet you! hank you so much for doing this!"

As tradition for the Japanese, she bowed her head. As tradition for Mikan, she wound up smacking her head face first into the table.

Kate and Sirius

"Biker boy," Kate says easily, sliding into the chair across from him. Maybe the real idea of speed dating was to meet people you've never met, but this worked out just as well. (And then again she doesn't know if she can put it past Loki doing this on purpose.) "Whatever happened to building our dream motorcycle?"

"You know, I think you are my only proper speed date." Loki sat down across from Sirius, stretching out his legs. "You are the only person I honestly do not know. So please, do tell me about yourself."

Teddy smiled as he approached the next table. He had to admit this was rather fun. Meeting people was something he sorely missed. Lately, he'd been stuck inside his own head. It felt good to be able to chit-chat with others, especially since they all came from rich and diverse worlds. A part of him craved the social interaction. Making a new friend out of it was an added bonus.

"Hi, I'm Teddy," he greeted as he sat down. "I feel like we should have name tags. Something that has your name and where you're from outside of Wonderland. That would take care of some of the small talk."

Mikan And April

So getting early hadn't worked, and trying to get the jump start on introductions hadn't worked. Maybe this time, if she stayed absolutely still, nothing bad would happen. It didn't help that this familiar girl seemed just a tiny bit scary.

She clutched the arm rests, determined not to move, save for her lips. "... M-Mikan Tsumiki. My name is Mikan Tsumiki."

After-Date Mingle

Technically, mingling should not happen until after the organizer has paired people up with who they actually wish to talk to again.

Loki finds that incredibly boring, in this case. Instead of shooing people out, he double-checks the snacks and clears the tables to give people more room to chat among themselves.

April heads over and grabs some cheese puffs from a snack tray next to Loki and looks him over for a moment. "How you're doing, o cuter trickster god?" Stuffing a couple cheese puffs in her mouth she pokes around at the other snacks, mentally cataloging what is missing (sour gummy worms, where are gonna be everywhere at her Halloween party for sure), but mostly deems that it's a pretty good set up.
