Who: Clint Barton & Darcy Lewis
Where: Coffee Shop
When: So late on the 31st its actually just the 1st now
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Darcy has been a bit of a wreck for the better part of a week, so Clint does the only thing he can think of, he gets her drunk.
The Story:
He doesn't know Darcy all that well, but Natasha introduced them and while she didn't say it outright she made it clear that Darcy was someone she was looking out for. Which meant Clint was as well. The appearance of Bucky Barnes in the absence of Steve seems to riled a few people and Clint could tell that Darcy had been running herself ragged trying to take care of everything. So it might have been a little guilt over the fact that that he hadn't stepped up when the other three disappeared (in his defense he had no idea who Bucky was until at least the third day the guy was here) and let everything rest on Darcy's shoulders that has him showing up at the coffee shop after hours with a bottle of whiskey and a crossbow.
Getting drunk and shooting things was usually how Clint dealt with stress (there was a reason he wasn't the leader of the Avengers, well there were a few reasons but irresponsible decisions was one of them).

There's a lift of an eyebrow at the sight, pausing in her attempts to wipe down an already clean counter. "Well, this is a surprise. Hi..." A beat. "Y'know, Steve and the others usually keep my training hand to hand."

He puts the unloaded crossbow next to the bottle. "You seem like you could use a break. Whiskey and shooting targets is a good stress reliever."

Because so far everything she'd learned had been put to the test.
"As much of a fan as I am of drunken learning, that wouldn't be very responsible." And that sure is the voice of Steve coming through, because she's been trying to channel his calm. Almost immediately after the words come out of her mouth, there's a look of horror. "I'm in." OH GOD, WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO HER.

"Glasses might be doable, although coffee mugs could be fun. I know I've got some pretty awesome ones... I think I even have one appropriate for the situ --" Her words are interrupted by a profound AHA as she sets a mug down on the counter. "This one's pretty spiffy, too." And have another mug. A few small espresso demitasse glasses soon follow with some larger brightly colored glasses. Here, Clint - have some options. "Do we want a mixer?" Because she's not objecting to drinking it straight, otherwise.

He picks up the day drinking mug and smirks. "I this is definitely the mug for me. It's good whiskey, just need some ice, maybe some water if that's your thing." That was how he was taught to drink whiskey- a little ice, water, and sip.

Picking up the other mug, she places that and one of the demitasses in front of her - pushing the smaller one forward. "I'm thinking I'm gonna start neat and go from there." Start a little more potent and then maybe dirty things up a bit before adding food to the mix. "There's ice in the bin here, and I've got some bottles of water if you want to get fancy."
Post hiatus tag, feel free to drop!
"Good choice." He goes about making her and then himself a drink, pushing her cup towards her across the counter. "So, how you holding up?"
no worries, I'm technically on hiatus so I'll be on the slow train
She gladly takes the cup, bringing it to her lips at the question - letting the smooth burn work its way down her throat before trying to speak. "Well, I'll be pretty happy to see everyone come back. Although, not sure I'm excited about the stories they might have." Considering last time Steve went home, he came back telling stories about killer robots and basically leveling a city. "I'm just grateful for a little downtime."

"Does it happen often? They leave and then come back after something big happens in our world?"
hella old tag as I come off of hiatus, feel free to drop ♥
"Yeah, although sometimes they don't come back. Or they leave in groups or go one by one? Natasha, Pepper, and Jane all went home in the span of like two weeks and they didn't come back. Not right away. That's why I always check people's rooms when they go." It's morbid, but a necessary evil. "I went home once. Went through like two years worth of life before they dragged me back. Messes with your mind a little. I wish there was a consistent way it did this crap, but that's definitely asking way too much of Wonderland. Just like I wish it would bring people back with their memories, no matter how long they were gone."
It'd make her life a hell of a lot easier, seriously.
never <3
"Yeah, Natasha said when I got here that she had just apparently come back. I heard I was here once before too."
He had a tendency to hate anything that messed with his head- too much like mind control for his liking.

Honestly, it's for the best that a few of them don't remember certain things... But she definitely has a few memories she wished people remembered. "We also all had a killer kitchen party when Tony and I were testing a theory and it backfired."
no subject
He raises an eyebrow. "Did something explode? When Tony's involved something always explodes. Did we have a good fight?" He's so adult, Darcy.
no subject
"And as for the kitchen, nothing exploded - surprisingly. There was a lot of melted ice cream, though. Lord Buckingham was showing me how to build a solid fortress to protect against invasions. And we kinda left a disaster in our wake with all the food. I... don't think we had a full-on food fight? I know I threw a milkshake at Bucky, but that was a different day when he was having a polar bear problem. I think you threw chocolate chips at someone. Probably Natasha, honestly. Or maybe Tony." She can totes help with adulting and throwing in the most random shit that literally makes no sense without context.
